Well, it seems as if I've run out of CTM maps to play. What shall I play next? (Not Pantheon, I'm working on a strat for it atm)
Just a bit of information about myself (since I know people will ask questions n to narrow down options)
- I'm really bad at tackling larger areas (Rage of the Reptiles, Dormant Mines, Rumblehiss Nest, Lush Ruins, etc)
- I don't rush
- I really (REALLY) hate skeletons early game
- I can handle just about any difficulty (I've managed to do OK in both Pantheon and Ragecraft, which I consider possibly the two hardest maps out there atm, not counting the absurd romhack hard stuff)
- I dislike open-world maps
Just a reminder for those of you who have forgotten but the CTM building jam is going to happen this upcoming weekend. (June 29th 12:01 am to July 1st 12:01 am) hope to see some of you there There will also likely be a skype call afterward but unfortunately I cant organize that. Finally if you think you will be coming would you mind hopping over to the topic to vote yes in the poll? This is simply so I can get an idea who is coming (it will still happen even if I only get 1 or 2 people don't worry :P)

This guy is pretty cool: Hey! I like, run this... or something:
You guys were right, I've just gotten the second wool from Infernal Sky II, and it was a million times easier than the parts of the second wool dungeon of Sunburn Islands I actually saw before ragequitting in disgust. This seems a much more gentle introduction to CTM's. After completing this map I'll probably try Sunburn on normal, avoiding the second dungeon for quite some time as suggested.
Thanks for the advice, that damn second dungeon was getting me *THIS* close to giving up on the idea of CTM's altogether, since I suck at Minecraft but don't want to play regular survival to get better, I find it boring as hell in terms of the action ratio. And thanks to the second dungeon, I thought it was almost impossible for someone like me to really get into the whole CTM scene. I am supremely grateful.
One more question, since I'm doing Infernal Sky on Easy and all, do you think Sunburn on Normal would be a reasonable jump in difficulty if I manage to beat Infernal Sky, or should I try one of the other beginner maps like Rugged Horizons on Normal first? I figure once I beat a Super Hostile on Normal I should be able to progress through a few more SH's on Normal and then I should be able to take on whatever CTM I like that isn't super-hard like Nightmare Realm or Zero Mercy or whatever. But the jump to Normal SH is the part I'm unsure of.
To give you an idea of my level, I've been in several tough spots on Easy Infernal Sky II on Grand Armada, but my deaths have almost all been from falling off something like a dumbass, so Infernal Sky II on Easy is challenging me a fair bit, but rarely killing me.

I just started playing From Ashes by the Gustavo team, and It is an amazing map, you should try that map next. Its easy, and fairly forgiving in terms of resources. Great map, and even if you are having trouble with an area, there are many others to choose from to make it a bit easier.

Stick with easy maps for a while.also I highly recommend uncharted territory 2. I found it that that map made me think of multiple solutions and really plan out an assault on an area before I attack it. I also recommend spellbound caves because its easy short and very fun to play. Greener pastures is also a very easy map to play. Sunburn islands honestly isn't hard if you play on easy or normal difficulty. Also try xekaj's maps their extremely difficult but have fun and creative gameplay.

When you say stick with easy maps for a while, do you mean "Maps that are designed to be easy" or "Maps on Easy difficulty"?
Sali, I'd say that it depends on what you wanna do. You can go however you want, tbh. I personally went Sea of Flame 2 -> Legendary and then I was fine for basically anything because, at the time, Legendary was near the limit of difficulty. Right now I'd recrommend Infernal Sky 2 -> Spellbound Caves, and then you should be at Medium difficulty. After that you can do stuff like Legendary, Waking Up, Inferno Mines, Monstrosity. They're tough, but you can still try them out :3 All in all, it depends on how you are.

I spent about 20 hours on i1 of legendary, because I couldn't find the white and the east commons wools as well as the path to the second intersection. (for some reason I thought the rail line was a shortcut from a future area into east commons and I didn't want to spoil anything for myself.
@I_am_Jens
I mean, I had a LOT more trouble with Monstrosity (Thus far) than Legendary, it really depends on your playstyle. They're all at around the same point in terms of a person's improvement, except maybe Waking Up.
Monstrosity is not even near the difficulty of Waking Up / Legendary. It is pretty easy, although the final wool can be quite a pain if you don't think about invisibility potions...
And of course if u want to hear more about monstrosity look up and watch that video......
Nah, i know i'll get used to it eventually. I'm just not looking forward to the section of time where i die horribly because i forget my regen won't work as well

Also spellbound caves goooo!
-snip-
I get what you mean I'm just thankful they are *finally* adding some aesthetic features to the game. Ever since 1.8 I feel that mojang kinda been moving toward the more adventure/mechanical side of things and neglecting the building and artistic aspects of the game. More than anything though I wan't them to stop wasting time and make modding more accessible *cough* plugin API *cough*
So I made an intro for the CTM Podcast. No biggy.
Its processing as I'm typing, so it'll be up in an hour or so (Thanks Youtube -.-)
EDIT: Never mind, it finished :/ Also, this will be edited for the content of the podcast respectively. Just an FYI

Hey! I like, run this... or something:
Always off, however if the mapmaker requested at the start of the map or before a certain area to turn clouds on, I'd oblige.
