posted a message on For the love of god, mods, please make a server sub-forum.
I come to this sub-forum every day to look at the latest admin, gui, mods, and official server updates. Lately it's becoming 90% "NEW SERVER OMG!" posts and the really good admin and mod tools are being pushed off the front pages.

The modders and coders here are spending many, many hours writing these programs which add more to SMP than anyone could have imagined. They deserve the recognition and not to be pushed to page two by server postings.

On any decent game's forum that has a modding community, they have two mod sub-forums:

    Mod Discussion
    Mod Releases

    Example:

How hard can it be for one of you top-level mods to make one more subsection adjacent to Survival Multiplayer Discussion and add "Survival Multiplayer Server Listings" or something to where we can have one sub-forum for Admins, GUIs, and mods and the other sub-forum for people who want to list how they're hosting the new "lag free!" server?

I'm just tired of shifting through these shitty server listings to get to the REAL content which makes this game great. I hate having to post this in here, adding to the problem of spamming the forums, but something needs to be done.

Granted we have the "Useful Admin Tools" thread pinned at the top, but that's not going to be updated as quick as it needs to be.

Every basic Joe can host a server and think theirs is the best. They then feel the need to broadcast it to the world. Not that there's a problem with this, but there needs to be a special place for it.

    My 2 cents. :Diamond: :Diamond:

Is there a way to toggle whether or not you can see other people's messages in the console of the gui? I remote host and I like to be able to communicate with others in the server.

Well, it claims ALL chat except the stuff that starts with / for itself and does not forward it to the server (to prevent it displaying). So if hey0's commands do not start with /, they will not work.

Sweet! Got it working. I still haven't put Llamacraft in but I don't see it being needed with your blacklisting of blocks.

Is there anyway you could put in options to toggle whether it checks to update the client or the server or both? That way I can have it just update MCAdmin and not update my server.jar which has Hey0's on it.

EDIT: Auto-backup doesn't seem to be saving to the server.properties through the GUI. I type in 180 and then hit ok, and when I open it back up its back to 0..

    Ups, fixed :3

Once again, you rock. How is the compatibility with Hey0's mod? I tried it with Llama and the "noupdate" on but seemed to not have the Hey0 commands available.

Doridian any chance you'll be adding a backup feature soon? It's really the only thing keeping me from using your GUI (which is fantastic, btw) I used yours a while back and loved the item blacklisting and the interface was very-well streamlined.

I'm using Zicore's atm (he has the only GUI that does backups, and he does them well) but I'm having bugs with his interface. His latest update is completely broken for me and I've had to revert back to his older version.

In a perfect world, you two would collaborate and make an awesome GUI. With your item blacklist and whitelist with his support for LLamacraft and backups you'd have the perfect admin tool. I know how yours checks for updates but that's really not that useful for experienced admins, especially if Notch rolls out a bad server update and they'd wish to stay at a certain version. I hate putting in "noupdate" because then I miss out on the MCadmin updating itself (which I guess it does?)

    SO TLDR:
    1. When is restore being added?
    2. Is there a way for you to support Llama fully while still checking for updates to the MCAdmin program itself?

Fixing the TP/crash problem and /sethome seconded.

Also, when you make some an OP with MCAdmin is it the same as the official op (recently added by notch) if not that would be great (like added to the op text file)

Official OP by Notch gives you more permissions than even Admin on MCAdmin.
It allows you to fiddle with saving, prolly even stop the server etc.
So if i make anyone OP on Notch's system, then only admins, its too dangerous to make normal OPs "Notch OPs".

/sethome is not possible without modifying the JAR, which I won't do because MCAdmin is a wrapper, no modification.

The !tp crash is a thing I have no idea why it happens but I will try to fix it. I even am at fixing it already but didn't find the cause for it so far :/

Hey0's TP function works flawlessly. I think it's because if you try to teleport to someone too close it crashes. Hey0's prevents you from teleporting if you're too close I believe.

Fixing now, should be faster this time since I know the procedure. I'll add playerlist too. /msg will be removed now that notch has /tell.

    You rock

    Take this with you :GoldBar:

Is there anyway to make this have an automated restart, I'm not in the mood to learn C

Not only this but an automatic backup!

Also, is there a way you'll be able to implement hey0's /sethome and /home commands?

Teleport (!summon) seems to be pretty bugged and crashes the client, leaving this message:

Excellent! Still doesn't ask me to login though. It maybe pulling the info from my old Persister files in the .minecraft folder, which could be the problem.

Sweet. For what I wanted (no /iron, working furnace and bucket), I only need your mod now, since /tp is now build into the official server! :biggrin.gif:

Never did figure out how to nicely combine yours with the other, but no matter now.

    /tp ?

What's that? This is the first I've heard of it.
