A short message, no explanation, and a link that obviously doesn't lead to a png or jpg. How enticing.

posted a message on Is protection 4 better than feather falling 4 in diamond boots?
    Quote from TheMasterCaver

The point I was making is that renaming DOES NOT stop the repair cost from increasing in 1.8 and even increases it, as explained here;...

I think Scum means that he named it, put all possible enchantments on it and such so that people could get an idea of repair cost the first time around for a maxed out pair of boots- not that he thought naming it would stabilize repairs.

OP: I'd say feather falling is the more beneficial option because boots have generally quite low - though not as low as helmet's - durability, so the effect of protection being more protective for the price of more durability drained per hit is a little more of a problem. In any case, i'd only use feather falling if I knew I wasn't going to run in to much trouble, so unless you're planning to use it as combat gear, i'd try to get feather falling on some boots as well/instead

posted a message on Bed acting silly?
Perhaps you should just not go far from your house and die..

Also, move your bed around a bit to experiment. Just store your inventory and kill yourself until you respawn at your bed.

    posted a message on Levels
The exp required to level is constant until after level 16, where it gets harder and harder to level up. That's why it's better to enchant+combine lower level books/items rather than get to level 30 and enchant, as it wastes a large amount of time. However, nothing beats getting a lucky lvl 30 enchantment, so who knows..

posted a message on I beat hardcore :-) - My tips and story. Spoilers.
    Quote from DaltronForce

By saying so, you have admitted that you haven't exactly finished the game. And technically you cant "beat" minecraft since the game never ends and it's nothing amazing really since so many people like you have done the same, defeating the enderdragon in hardcore.

And most of your info is obviously from Paulsoaresjr, so nothing great there. No problem in getting inspired from him though. I can understand. I was inspired by him too.

If someone is happy about beating the dragon when they previously haven't done so and wishes to share their experience, then let them do so in peace. Good gods, man.

posted a message on How do I make a jumpscare?
I think using a combination of night vision + blindness creates a pitch black viewpoint, so if you used commands to go from that to a skull that appears in front of you (or whatever you plan to scare the player with) as the blindness wears off while also playing a sound that sounds somewhat like a scream (like a ghast cry slowed down, maybe- see /playsound tutorials), then that might give the illusion of a jumpscare.
In reality, Minecraft is not designed for scare factor- so it's sort of difficult to create a truly scary map, unless you go with a more creepy, murder story kind of approach.
    Good luck either way!

posted a message on The Rig, a Minecraft journal. (Updated 8/10/14)
Man oh man. I can only imagine the insane scale of this project, magnified by it being largely water-based...
all of my kudos to you, my friend. Keep up the great updates.

It somehow fulfills my lazy mindset on mc knowing someone out there is working doubly hard to maintain the balance of the universe, :P

posted a message on Are strongholds the only place where you can find stone bricks?
Uh, he's asking if there's a different structure with stone bricks, not how to get it :P
And no, the only source of 'natural' stone brick is indeed the stronghold.

posted a message on Am I the only one?
Not everyone has as much access to cave systems and ore experience gain as you, nor do they wish to. Seeing as you made that mod yourself, yes, I suppose you ARE the only one with that particular play style. Me, I prefer to do other things as automated farms an contraptions get me the materials and exp that I need. (Albeit with limited success, I am not profoundly experienced with building gold farms in particular)- for example, most people have huge wheat, melon, carrot or animal farms to take care of food- some of us, perhaps the 'lazier' or less motivated to do tasks that can be averted without need for pointless exertion/concentration, prefer having an auto chicken cooker. It IS a fantastic and limitless machine that means hunger never becomes troublesome. What i'm getting at here is that an exp farm is the answer to my playstyle needs- I don't need to enchant a whole lot, but if the fancy takes me I can easily get a few levels (and some nice rare drops at the same time!). You, spending most of your time mining, need to repair things, evidently. But those repairs are limited largely to pickaxes and shovels, occasionally fixing armour + weapons. Your constant mob encounters (or at least more than a lot of people like myself) combined with smelting a whole lot, and mining half of Europe's coal and metal supplies means you get enough to fulfill your needs without actively seeking EXP.

To reiterate, as said by many previous posters, it depends entirely on playstyle. I might have ranted and raved a bit but don't take anything to be accusatory- each to their own, I say! (except those darn nosepickers.) :SSSS:

posted a message on Any good building challenge around?
There's a pretty old but still used challenge (with good reason), called Castle Building Challenge. I'll see if I can get the link for you..

    EDIT: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/871092-challenge-castle-building-challenge/
There it is. You can easily create your own backstory for that, and it's pretty long!
