All normal occurrences. Gravel does spawn in that formation, the dot of water was just a fluke.
The arrows can possibly be explained by a skeleton 'duel'- while you were in the area, one of them tried to shoot you and possibly hit a nearby skeleton, who was standing under that arrow-ridden block, and one of them started shooting the block above in an attempt to kill each other.
The wolf thing; it happens, from time to time, unfortunately. I've lost ocelots on huge treks to jungles and back for unknown reasons before. Sad but reality.

posted a message on Gold... Beautiful or Useful or Both?
Well, I have to say that i'm rather partial to golden armour. It has a surprisingly decent durability and protection- in fact, it has the same amount of protection - albeit less durability - as chain armour.

If you have a gold farm that's halfway decent, you can also make golden carrots, the best saturation food in the game.
In my opinion, gold has come from being a stupidly useless, rare item to an item with enough uses to rival iron.

In order to get villagers, I have a challenge for thee-

Cure two zombie villagers without brewing any potions. It's possible; use your imagination.

You just need to have them affected by weakness. But how..?

    It's actually the Tab key.

Three types of explosions can place fire, which are they?

Ghast fireballs, bed explosions in the nether and lightning strikes (if those count?)

Can 2 block-high grass hide you from hostile mobs?

Actually, no, you won't. You have to deal a hit (within 5 seconds of it's death) or kill it manually to obtain the wither skulls and rare drops (stone swords). Coal and bones will still drop.

A bow with Power 4, Unbreaking 3, Flame 1. Although I like the nametag, saddle and fishing rod drops, too.

And when i'm at the enchanting table stage, I like fishing up leather.

posted a message on Sprint or Sneak?
After the default inventory key being I for at least a year and a half back in alpha/beta, I can't go on to use E instead, so I put sprint as E. It's easily accessible and you only need to press it once anyway to sprint if you're holding down the forward key at the same time.

Other keys i've changed are the chat key from T to ENTER, and cinematic camera mode to backslash.

posted a message on What Should I Do In Survival?
Perhaps you could spice things up by turning it into a bit of a Role-play world. Come up with a theme and stick to it, so instead of making a huge creeper face modern glass floor mixed with cobble+wooden walls, use just one of those styles and make your whole world like that. Let's see, I might be able to come up with something..

    RP- Pirate
The story so far- you were shipwrecked on a distant shore, inhabited by beings only told in outlandish tales in your homeland. You were a feared pirate, Captain Cobble, and your crew were as motley a bunch as ever seen. But all that is in the past now- you must survive long enough to gather what crew you can find and set sail back to your homeland!

    tasks-

    Stage 1
    1. Make a boat and crash it into shore. (shipwreck style!) With the splintered boat's remains, craft a wooden pickaxe and create a small shelter that resembles a broken end of a boat (build it at the beach, of course)
    2. Craft a set of wooden tools (for now, you are limited to wooden tools.)
    3. Build a small wheat farm (no more than 10 wheat per harvest) and make some "hard rations" , a.k.a bread. You must obtain 5 bread before going onto the next task.
    4. Extend your base camp- from your broken boat shelter, make a few tents with wool and a firepit with firewood nearby. (you may want to use spider string to make this, as you'll need plenty of sheep later)

    Stage 2
    1. Make a set of brand new stone tools and get some iron.
    2. Build a seaworthy boat that will carry plenty of cargo (you will want a sheep farm to get wool for the mast(s)!)
    3. Construct a shed to store food and farming supplies, and make a stone brick reinforced safehouse to store precious loot.
    4. Find diamonds, and get to the nether as soon as you can.

    Stage 3
    1. Once in the nether, get enough gold to make a golden sword. (or just kill pigmen for one!) This is now your valued cutlass, and if you lose it, you must get another from the nether.
    2. Take some neutral pigmen with you and put them on your boat. Once 5 pigmen are aboard your vessel, you have your crew!
    3. Now here is the tricky bit. If you have archimedes mods installed, simply sail your ship to a distant continent. If you are on the snapshots, do a copy-fill command to transport the boat to the land (which you'll find in a normal boat). If neither of those, your only option is to rebuild the boat there, or use another mod i'm unaware of!
    4. From here, you can make your hometown and country, make a jail, tavern and the like.

That took longer than I thought. Anyhow, it should give you some direction, at least- Good luck! :)

    Like this-

    {summon Enderman ~ ~1 ~ {Attributes:[{Name:generic.maxHealth,Base:1}]}

The '~ ~1 ~' are relative coordinates, so if it was ~ ~ ~ it would spawn the enderman 'in' the block. Therefore i've moved it up one so it will be standing on top of the block.

Perhaps you should just not go far from your house and die..

Also, move your bed around a bit to experiment. Just store your inventory and kill yourself until you respawn at your bed.

And sometimes when you are on hard in dungeon the spawner of zombies will spawn zombies faster thats what happened to me i almost died and i have splash potion of healing and i survived

Difficulty does not affect spawn rates of ANY MOB, from ANY SOURCE, except for pigmen from portals in the overworld. However, what you might have experienced is the spawner having fast spawns simply because the time between each set of spawned mobs can fluctuate, and you got unlucky.

The repair cost of Sharpness V is negliable compared to Shaprness III; only two more levels, especially when other enchantments are used, and with Unbreaking III a diamond sword is good for over three thousand mob kills. Indeed, even my Sharpness V, Knockback II, Unbreaking III sword, which costs 35 levels to repair with two diamonds, which still restores 1,560 mob kills of uses (too expensive to repair with a new sword) is extremely affordable (of course, coming from somebody who thinks that only using an Efficiency V, Fortune III, Unbreaking III pickaxe to mine with, even using it to mine stone, is practical; I get around 4-5,000 XP per play session, making the 37 level/1406 XP cost to repair with just one diamond a couple times negligible - and I don't use mob farms either, just XP from mining ore and killing regular mobs; by contrast, I only have to repair my sword every 5-6 play sessions; the material cost is also a total non-issue for me, even if I didn't use Fortune to mine diamonds).

Also, it is extremely easy to get Sharpness V - just raid a stronghold of its books (over 1,000 if there are two large libraries; even one small one is more than enough), then go to the Nether and mine a bunch of quartz, enchanting books at 1 level as you go along (even a very basic dungeon XP farm works well at these rates, only 17 XP per enchantment), then use an anvil to combine 16 books to get Sharpness V (and Power V, Protection IV and Efficiency V; the only "hard" to get enchantments are those like Fortune, Infinity, Unbreaking, etc which pretty much require direct enchanting to get).

I realise that it is very easy to get a sharpness 5 sword, but for the same effectiveness on regular mobs (and armoured mobs are only a somewhat significant problem on hard difficulty) you can use a sharpness 3 diamond sword, which, when using your book method, would require a measly 4 books, saving (3 quarters of the) time. Also, when the 1.8 update hits, expensive tools will become more and more of a luxury, as repair cost cannot be stabilised by naming, therefore a sword with a lower enchantment (even just 2 levels difference to repair in 1.7) will be of more use as it can be recycled more times.
Unbreaking III is a separate enchantment, and not relevant..
Also keep in mind that because your playstyle is almost entirely caving, and you only mine nether quarts for experience once, as i read(could be wrong), it is easy for you to repair your tools without majorly diverting from your current objective. Players who focus primarily on building might benefit from using a lower sharpness blade because it is effective for less cost, and placing blocks doesn't reward experience like mining does, so when you have to repair a tool, you have to go out of your way to do so (it is a pain, trust me.)

Anyway, this is completely off-topic so it's probably best we leave it at that! :P

posted a message on Can mobs spawn close to you?
Zombies can spawn 'reinforcement' zombies regularly enough to make going out at night (in plains/desert or somewhere flat and clear) and just punching zombies until they make a pack of 10 or so before murdering them all for experience a viable option. It's also a good way to get rare drops like carrots and potatoes from them, which are otherwise impossible to get unless you find a village with those crops.
    Quote from TheMasterCaver
    -SNIP-
That said, zombies do spawn more zombies only on Hard, although the chances are fairly low, such that there is no real difference (until one spawns in your face), especially when using enchanted swords (a Sharpness V sword two-hits them and only non-fatal hits have a chance of summoning more; this also applies to wolves and silverfish, which can be one-hit without aggroing others).
    -SNIP-

In actual fact, if you discount armour, a sharpness 3 diamond sword or sharp 4 iron sword can two hit all mobs barring endermen (and perhaps witches), for a lower cost to repair and higher availability. I find that sharpness 5 is only really useful for boss fights, as it is somewhat wasted on mobs with less than 13.25 hearts (the damage dealt in two normal swings of said swords) as in two hits a sharp 3 diamond sword would deal slightly over 10 hearts, the amount all common mobs (zombies DO have the same health, but they also have 1 armour point which means 2 punch kills at an exp farm) have (or less in the case of spiders and cave spiders, for which bane of arthropods is essentially a useless enchantment, as a stone sword with Bane of Athropods 3 can one hit them, nullifying the effects of any enchantment higher than that, really) - you know what, don't get me started on the enchantment system...
I hope this helps some people.

    16. Don't assume that pigman over there is not going to kill you. I've learned the hard way they often hold grudges, and when that grudge involves a golden sword, it's best to make sure.

    17. Looting III is a VERY useful enchantment. Killing 1 enderman for 4 enderpearls is like an early birthday present.

    18. Don't discount fishing as a viable source of experience. In the early stages of a world, before access to the nether or any exp farms, it can be an effective way to get enchantments.

    19. Sneaking does NOT stop you from walking off soulsand.

    20. Salmon restores 1 hunger point (half a drumstick) more than regular fish.

    21. Ender chests must be broken with silk touch or else you'll lose the ender eye and get 8 obsidian dropped instead.
