I am still a newbie in minecraft so this may be a dumb question but,
Do I need to create a new singleplayer world to get horses?
Or can I just find them in my singleplayer world I made before the update?
You don't need to create a new world. Just explore new territory and look for a plains biome in the new territory. I used a world generated in 1.4 yesterday evening and found horses fairly quickly once I found a plains biome in some newly generated areas that I hadn't ever been to before. As a bonus, I also found a new village and my first witch hut.

According to the wiki, fossils can be found in desert and swampland biomes 15-24 layers below the surface including the various hills. My question is: does that mean if you have a mountain in the desert, you could potentially find a fossil near the level of the surrounding surface embedded inside the mountain? Does anyone know?

Were you looking in areas you had previously explored?
I went to some cold areas I hadn't explored yet and found several.

When I first heard of this new feature in the snapshots, I thought it would be awesome. (I never use snapshots, by the way.) I didn't expect 1.10 to come out so soon but it was nice that it came so soon. So I've been playing it (always vanilla survival by the way) and I have to admit I'm tempted to turn it off. There have been a number of times when it almost made me die due to jumping at just the wrong time.
One time in the nether I had just found a nether fortress and was beginning to explore it. I was near the end of a pier and was working on a ramp to get down. I accidentally bumped the side of the block beside me while walking and it caused me to jump. Since I was in motion, when I came down, there was nothing underneath me so I fell around 15-20 blocks distance. Fortunately, it wasn't fatal, but it was the closest call I've had with it so far.
There have been a number of other near misses as well. But overall, I do like it, particularly when exploring or filling out a map. It makes walking up and down hills a lot easier.
So, what is your experience so far?

My first thought when I saw this thread was "Fire and Ice" but I see it has already been mentioned. But close to that it could be called the "Inferno Update" with a reference to Dante's Inferno.
As far as the version number, they could go all hexadecimal on us and call it version 1.A.

I don't usually play snapshots. Can anyone check to see if this bug is still in the 1.10 snapshot(s)? Also, folks, please vote to have this one fixed.

I'm not sure how old you are but if you're an adult, this one is one I like to play on periodically:

I hope you don't mind... I built you a big sign near spawn.

I used to see it occasionally in earlier versions but since 1.9 came out, I've noticed that the fishing line has the fish hook hovering above the water rather than in the water. Also, the line starts to the right of the fishing pole rather than on the end of the fishing pole.
Am I the only one who sees this? I can't be because it has been reported by a number of people.
Someone created a bug report in an early version but maybe they need more people to vote for the issue before they fix it. I keep watching the bug fixes in upcoming releases but nothing yet. Please vote for the issue so it will get attention.
