I wonder what this is going to do to existing map-editors like "MCEdit". Our server admin relies heavily on MCEdit to do things like lay minecart tracks and fix map bugs after server crashes.

Actually.. every single time a real life zombie has broken down one of my doors, it's always, and I mean every single time, fallen in one easy to replace piece. :mellow.gif:

Honestly, I think my favourite additions to the game have been recent ones. Making Endermen not take as many blocks is a huge change for the better, I also really love the idea of finally being able to move animals (by leading them with grain).. also I really love the entire concept of villages, though I admit, I hope that the NPCs get a little more interesting and interactive in the future. Right now they're just bipedal sheep who don't give wool.

I hope this isn't going to be one of those things where you have to "like" them on facebook or something.

Those villagers look familiar.

So we get villages in 1.8, and villagers in 1.9.

What happens if in 1.8, we move into the village and take over all the houses and crops as our own? What happens if we use the NPC villages as a "convenient location for acquiring materials" and take all the wood, crops, and whatnot, and raze the village to the ground?

In 1.9, will the villagers just spawn where the village used to be? Will they be pissed to find someone living in their homes? Will they become a rampaging mob with torches and pitchforks if they show up and there's no homes for them?

I guess that explains why you can't open a chest with solid blocks on top. Makes me wonder how it'll deal with glass on top tho.

I like the idea of throwing things into it tho. I'm sure that's not what's intended, but still.

My friend and I were watching the first video, when we both noticed some odd (and kind of cool) behavior with the lighting as notch entered a cave carrying a torch. It seemed at first like the carried torch was giving off light. Then later it looked like the lighting was somehow adjusting to the darkness after a few seconds, and would flare up badly for a moment when notch placed a torch.

Then we re-watched it, and noticed the background around the outside of the monitor getting brighter and darker, and realized that it was the camera on the Android phone that was adapting to the low-light on-screen conditions in the caves and was taking a moment to adjust to the brighter lighting once torches were placed.

So, a little bit sad that that isn't actually a feature of minecraft... and this video suffers from the same problem, because as you watch, Notch is adjusting the brightness slider, and yet we can hardly see the difference because the camera pointing at the screen is dynamically adjusting it's own light balance to compensate for the lighting changes.

Guess we're going to have to wait for some kind of screencast,, or else we'll just have to wait til 1.8 comes out, to really understand what's so special about the changes to lighting.

I guess I'm kind of late to the party. Does anyone know if this stream was recorded and if there's anyplace it can be watched? (or where highlights can be watched?)
