I just based that off the beginning of your above post. You said "I've been busy lately", and I didn't finish reading it, I sort-of jumped to the conclusion that you meant you had little time to work on it at the time, but I finished reading the post and that isn't what you meant. Surprises are nice though, so that's fine. Also, I'd like that idea of allowing some people to test it, I enjoy beta testing people's packs, and this one looks really nice, it does the Victorian theme more justice than any other pack I've seen in my opinion, so it would be a neat thing to try out.
One thing, since you are delving far into the dark Victorian theme, you should consider adding a custom, dark light-map and fog colour to match the textures, because bright white fog in the day and very bluish fog at night won't really match the textures much. and whatever the thing is called that the light-map changes is very bright and blue, so it also wouldn't really fit.
Yes, definitely. I'll change all of that as well as the sky. I think that ambiance is something very important to a texture pack. If all there that the texture pack consists of is textures with the default shading, I think it really detracts from the possible experience. First I want to finish the terrain though, I've decided to be very disciplined with this so that I don't get into doing the mobs or something and never really finish the terrain. As soon as I get the stone bricks finished I believe it'll be time for another update, so stay tuned.
Anyway, I would like to see this released soon, you have things to do, which is understandable, and I don't know if you are a student or a worker, but in the case of a student, Christmas break is soon, so you should have some more time to work on it, and maybe with a bit more progress, you might be able to release it.
Looking great!
Yes, I'll have more time during winter break, and also, I've been working on it, even if I'm not posting updates. Unless there's a texture I would really like feedback on, I like for it to be a surprise.
I think I'll post a download link sometime in the next few updates for those who want to test it out for themselves.
wait wait WAIT back up. Yes photoshop can to place single pixels of color. It's called using the PENCIL tool.
Many pixel artists use photoshop. Both texturepacks I'm making are also made in it. I've been working with photoshop sense it's beta, it has -always- been able to do pixel work.
my packs items (wip) and my bad mouse pixel writing. Sure isn't effecting near by pixels.
Thanks Corner, the pack IS really feeling more like a world now and "warm" is certainly part of the theme. I love some of the creativity of the darker parcks but for me this the kind of place i want to unwind in and explore
Right, glow stone has been bit of a headache tonight i've played with something but want to hear what people think, its wip so do i continue or try something totally different guys.......if its a no give me an idea to try
Well, it looks a LOT like the glowstone texture from Sphax...
I would say change it to look more rock-like. Now that they added redstone lanterns we don't have to make glowstone look like lanterns anymore, so I don't see why you should. I can see it even as just a recolor of the shiny stone.
I would also like to say that this pack is looking really great, and I'm not usually into really high rez packs. For me it is the perfect combination of realisticness and cartoonyness. The art is really superb.
