    posted a message on Religion

Really interesting. I got the book and I greatly recommend it. I have always been very interested in philosophy and science that has to do with how the world works and why it does. This is also what religion is about. I don't believe in religion. I try to be skeptic and think for myself. So far, this video/book seems most reasonable but I don't believe in it. I see it as a possibility until I have proven it myself. A pretty possible possibility since it solves many questions that other religions/philosophics/science cannot.

Not long. A couple of seconds per item or so. Just not so that you can spawn items like a chinese factory (no offense, bad joke)

    Thanks.

Also this could be used to make storage blocks in the same way. They could look like chests and maybe hold 500 blocks.

Since there is no information about how crafting will be implemented, I have a suggesion.

You cannot just craft items on the spot out of nowhere. You need a workbench kinda block. To get that, get resources for it in the inventory, and press some button to open a menu where you can choose to make a workbench (this menu could be extended to display other options too, like building a torch block that you can place in dark places etc.). Then it takes some time to build the block, and meanwhile you cannot walk or fire arrows or such. When the block is finished, you get it in your inventory to place wherever you want. for examle, to be protected agains mobs while crafting, you can make a structure to place it in, or place it in a cave. Then you can use the block with E to open a crafting menu for items. When you craft an item, it takes resources from the inventory, and time. Meanwhile, no other player can use the block. So for efficient crafting in team games, you have to make several workbench blocks. Off course, this can be expanded to build several different workbenches that crafts different types of items. Like one for farm tools, fishing rods and other food related stuff, one for weapons, one for armor, one for bombs, yeh you get the point. =)

    What do you think?

posted a message on Untextured RGB blocks
    Hi.

I came up with an idea for a new type of blocks for all pixel art lovers out there. Why not have an untextured RGB block that when choosed gives a menu with three sliders for RGB values, then you can place it and it gets that colour. This would give much more possibilities when making pixel art images in minecraft.

posted a message on Dwarf Fortress -> Minecraft converter
    Hi!

I got an idea of a mapgenerator. A one that takes a saved map from Dwarf Fortress and converts it into a Minecraft map! It should be possible since people already made 3d viewers for dwarf fortress maps, so the data is available. All that has to be done is to make it into the format for minecrafts map loader. Also since dwarves can walk in a 1 tile high passage all dwarf passages are one tile, so the converter should duplicate each height layer so that every tile becomes two tiles high so you still can walk in them.

Specific conversions would be great too, so that it takes materials from DF and follows a preset list which tells what block to place in Minecraft.

    Example:

Silt loam, mud, etc -> Earth
White sand, Red sand, etc -> Sand
Granite, rock salt, gabbro, etc -> rock
Smoothed stone walls -> cloth of the right colour.
    Plump helmets -> mushrooms
    Trees - > trees

    And so on.

Unfortunately, I haven't got the time to do this myself right now. At least not alone. I have programming skills in java, but I haven't worked with this kind of programs before, and I have no idea to start. So if someone feels like doing this, go ahead. =) I just wanted to share my brainstormed idea.

What about the door vanishing when you get close enough and reappears when you go away? Or maybe a use button?

    Nice.

I hope when the dynamic lighting system comes into play, it'd be nice to see places without torches being pitch black.

    I second that

Would be great. Then things would look cool when you are afking. Just lie down on a bed and it isn't weird that you don't answer. =D

Also it would be good for hiding in survival mode. I can imagine lying down, recuperating some health and energy in a shrubbery to not be seen in my weakened state.
