Anyone thinking of trying out the New new experimental launcher to fix the options text bug DON'T

I have BTW in a separate directory and it didn't load the correct save and then it crashed

I know it's experimental but it was pretty awful just a non java re-skin

Have just tested latest version with Better Than Wolves MC 1.52 works OK

Had gone back to using the old launcher as CIT never seemed to work in the new launcher with Better Than Wolves

    But works fine now

    Thanks

edit having blood wood saplings or and bloodwood leaves in inventory makes Minecraft crash.

    Just a (maybe silly) question:
Is there any way of getting an old version of the mod? I continue using mc1.4.7 and I want to try it in that version.

Yes but you need to search the topic to find the link BTW 4.65 I believe
But I recommend you get the latest version and play 1.52 to get the full experience
Installation instructions are on the wiki

I haven't been using any mod managers, that's the point. The install has been as clean as it could possibly be. I've nuked the json and the actual version multiple times. Regardless of whether or not I copy the core btw files into the jar or if I use a proper json setup to add them as a library, the game works perfectly but refuses to launch in an alternate directory.

It's literally a case of if I swap out the 1.5.2 jar for a modded btw jar without changing anything else, it doesn't launch in the alternate directory. It's an issue explicitly related to the mod itsself. The mod itsself works in every other aspect. If you check my original post on the other page, you can see the json setup that I had for yourself.

The Jar I was using was a vanilla 1.5.2 with META-INF removed, and the library being loaded was a jar of all the btw files. That was being loaded last, so it was identical to a manually overwritten jar. As I said, I have this issue regardless of my installation method. It seems to dislike the launch directory argument.

EDIT: Turns out after a bit more testing that Vanilla 1.5.2 does it as well. Lovely...

Try using MCPatcher, create BTW profile in MCPatcher 4.3.2_02 and test Then edit profile in vanilla launcher for chosen directory.
It works for me 95% of the time you still have to switch out, now and again to get it to load
    Enjoy

EDIT: Or just run BTW profile through MCPatcher works every time

I play BTW with a little biomes mod (made by myself), but I would need permission and official hooks from FlowerChild to share it with the community (although I don't modify any base class modified by BTW, so hooks might not be necessary). Right now I'm still adding biomes (I added 10 new biomes so far) and polishing them a bit. Of course they don't alter BTW balance, it's just for visual purposes, they just add some variety in landscapes and trees, since I was also tired of vanilla biomes and that was one of the main reasons pulling me back from playing BTW.

My original purpose was to keep it only for personal use, but if FC wants to I can send the files for him to check out and if he gives permission I could work on it to make a public release, with more biomes and of course adapting it to FC's requirements and advices (oh my god, I know I'm going into the lion's den here, but anyway he most likely will say no).

Did anything become of this are you still thinking of making a biome mod for BTW

I played an older version of it. It actually looks a ton easier now, with all those fruit trees everywhere. Those fruit trees are super productive, too much so. Well, just in general food is everywhere. In the videos they never seem to be hurting for food. One person seemed able to easily collect enough food for 3-4 people at early game.

What disappointed me the most was when they could craft beds and they worked. So the mini map means they don't need paths to not get lost. And the beds mean they don't needs paths/spare bases to stay safe. And smart moving I think can let you crawl up walls if I remember correctly.

The thirst mechanic is the one thing they don't seem to be able to skip or largely ignore yet.

I actually love TFC's mechanic of pre-chest/vessel, that the players store all resources around the base and between themselves. And that some surface objects like that rock cannot be moved until higher in the tech level. Its like those pesky big rocks in harvest moon you have to upgrade your tools to break. I think since things like the log piles can't store much, you need big bases pre-chest to keep large amounts of resources on base is pretty cool.

Cool post man very informative Terra Firma Craft sounds realy interesting will definitely give it a try may be BTW could learn a thing or two

I had a good chuckle. Nice job.

Now seriously, how do I turn it off? It's one thing to pull a funny joke, another to make your software unusable for long periods of troubleshooting.
You can download the old version from the OP
