posted a message on Far Render Distance = Crashing?
The problem is definitely your 32bit machine, because I went from 64bit to 32bit, and right back to 64bit. (Dont ask.)

The performance hit was horrendous with the early pre-release and SPhax excellent texture.

Plus that annoying tool tip saying Far is not for 32bit machines, once I found my 64bit disc I went back and loaded pre-release and it was obviously smoother.

So definitely give 64bit a try, my other game World of Tanks wouldn't even let me select Highest texture on 32bit.

Endermen should work together with Creepers and make a 1x2 space in your house for the creeper to get to you. Now that's scary.

Kind of like Colossus and Wolverine

posted a message on Why 1.8 is awesome
    Quote from Rez Messing

Maybe you've been in this game so long that it kinda bores you an you're looking for something new. But I've only been in the game a month and I was looking forward to playing the game, to see how far I could take it. Thing is, 1.8 isn't an "improved" game, it's a different game. And it's a game I'm not interested in. If I wanted to rpg, and roam around random villages, and level up with "experience points" I'd play WoW. I liked minecraft because it was different from WoW and similar but still different from Second Life. It was a game that I could create and make my own. Except for needed bug fixes, 1.7.3 was a fine game and didn't need to change. The least Notch could do is give players the ability to switch back 1.7.3 if they desire.

Rez makes a great point, while I am enjoy alot of the new features in 1.8, I can see it splitting the community into people who prefer less RPG and those who do.

Maybe Mojang should implement a third play option separately between pure Survival, Adventure, and Creative?

Rez I have a question for though, I mean 1.7 Minecraft had RPG elements in it that were a very "lite", is it just the coming features of NPC Villages, and the Abandoned Mine shafts and Strongholds that is too much?

Would my suggest above work for you?

There is actually a mod that makes these packs really obsolete, the x-ray mod. lots of different options for different blocks & solves the problems with ores not being rendered.

posted a message on c# codeing and ideas for a indie game
You sound like a motivated guy, and I want to believe you are.

However I too are interested in getting started on an indie game development project. My interest though is in a Master of Orion 1/2 clone, indie style.

I have quite a few ideas on how to go about that, and what elements I think can be improved on the genre. If you are a serious person, and are more talented in coding then me, I have get through the basic tutorials for GamestudioA8 (A Lite C platform, or Torque 2d).

I am more talented on the graphics front, and ready to make some great sprites for this type of game.

So any beginning programmers out there, interested in joining me in the project please message me. I have a blog going, and a website reserved. I am also in the concept phase of fleshing out the game on the blog.

    posted a message on [V1.2] King's Mods - Neutral Creepers, Nether Tools![V8.10]
I can see why everyone else is flaming those who ask, "does this work for beta", when this silly question by now has been answered in everyother reply. COME ON PEOPLE, you don't even have to use the forum search tool to find the answer, lazy bums.

Now to everyone who says "come on hurry up with a release", this is a mod he is doing out of his own time and love for Minecraft. Kingbdogz could simply go away and never work on this mod again.

Lastly, stop rushing him because Notch is saying there will be a content update by the end of this week, and if King releases an update to this mod the content update might break this mod again. SO BE f'ing patient.

We have good things coming to us, like the underwater mobs Notch mentioned and the fixed Dragon Pickaxe from this mod, which makes Minecraft really enjoyable. (I just got my first Dragon Scale off a Ghast before Beta) so I am looking forward to everything working as much as everyone else.

So please stop spamming, Does this work? and Hurry Up? and He Should give us Updates! BLAH BLAH BLAH, this is mod is provided out of good will.

    Enough said.

    Quote from SteepledClock »
That is the reason why I backed up all my saves. Most likely we will loose our saves in the .minecraft folder when it updates, so the best thing to do is back them up.

Umm if the beta is not backwards compatible with alpha saves, it is pointless to back them up,

I am not so excited about it because it is mainly updating the server side of things, which I hardly play on.

What single player fixes or content is coming with beta to get a non smp player excited about?

Hmmm... maybe the mod is somewhat working, I had a sand creeper explode in my face in-game, but I can't make sawdust or any other dust. :-/ (As-in, only some parts of the mod are working for me)

    Bump? Help?

    HELP!?!

Ok first of all, I would like to help the community by hosting the mod loader file on my server.
    ModLoader 1.2.6=Click Here
Kingbdogz feel free to add the link to the first page.

Second of all make sure you deleted the folder in the instructions. Also make sure you use winrar to open up the minecraft.jar file and paste the modloader files directly into there by simply dragging the contents of modloader into the winrar window. Make sure you overwrite the files, is selected. good luck/

If you guys files are all messed up, back up your saves ,delete the bin folder and next time Minecraft is loaded it will download the default files. Then try again.

King I am thinking about taking the plunge on your excellent mod, I am getting bored of the vanilla Minecraft (RE Crafting Recipes) because I am disappointed that Obsidian is basically useless for such an investment of time save for a Gate or a strong anti Creeper material. Your mod fills the void that I feel strongly that Notch should incorporate your ideas!! I would also like to see, like another user suggested, more material recipes to make our constructs more beautiful.

I am afraid that this will not get added because Notch is already talking about Beta, so definitely keep your mod alive and look into more construction material recipes.

I also have a request about your mod thread. When you make updates to your OP, can you make Date notes and remove some of the older information. Also explain what each new item does like the OB pick is better than iron but weaker than diamond, etc. Because I noticed you have been tweaking things as your user make request, so it is getting tedious to browse through 20 pages of thread. Also a link to Mod Loader would be helpful. :chestfront:

posted a message on Best way to fight skeletons?
Like others have posted when it comes down to it and you have used all your arrows and only have your diamond sword left (only use other metals when you have no diamond because it only takes two hits), utilize the time honored tradition of strafing.

The Skeleton AI is not good with adjusting for a strafing hero, and if you time you left and right movement between shots you will take him down easily.

This is less effective when there are other monsters around, and especially against more than one skeleton. In this situation definitely run.

posted a message on Notch has made 3 million bucks
    Quote from Snow »
Figure that thanks to European tax rates, when you buy Minecraft you're mostly funding their welfare state and only secondarily the guy who put in all the hard work to actually build the game. He should move to a country with more freedom if he's going to keep doing good work like this!

Welfare state in Europe is not as bad as everyone here in the US paints it. Germany's health care system is a cut above our own, and their roads are well maintained.

What do we get with our tax dollars here in the US? More freedom you say? Drive down the 5 freeway near downtown Los Angeles and try to not hit a pot hole, go to your nearest hospital and try to be seen within the hour without missing a limb or paying $500 a month with a $3000 deductible. The "Rent is too Damn High", and our middle class has been exported to India and China.

So before you go bash the "Socialist" over there in Europe, look real deep into the "American Dream" and tell me it is much better?

BTW- I love America and have served over 7 years in the military, it is just not the same anymore. BOTH political parties are to blame.
