After you get it working good, what would you think of adding auto detection of light blocks with colors in their name? A good number of mods have 16 colors of a decoration light block.
How about having a set of bitmaps for each column of chunks that the server and client can reference to know where light/rain/maps can get through and render. It would increase save and load size, but the lighting handler would be able to quickly calculate where light is blocked from chunks above without loading the whole chunk.
A second step you could take is to have the effect of these bitmaps decay as it goes down chunks so that the area it "shades" get's smaller or less "shaded". This would be slightly more calculating with the ones you load but it would allow you to just load a set number instead of always loading the whole column which in an infinite height world would be a lot.
With this mod greatly reducing the usefulness of various cheat mods so the server would only give clients chucks that they can actually see PvP worlds will function much better instead of the current "whoever hax the most".
No. I tried making a mob counter with them and they didn't output the signal. Not only that but as I remember it it was the size of the mob that determined the output strength.
I would like some pressure plates that output a signal based on how many mobs are on them. They would be very useful in different mob based automations such as crush killing hostile mobs from a mob spawner only when there is a reasonable amount or if the player wants to kill them by hand to stop further mob spawns when there are plenty of mobs ready to be killed. Here's some concept recipes I whipped up:
I used some of the pages but I don't know what got updated. Could you add some "new info" indicators to the different icons. Maybe even have a visual difference between completed and unfinished knowledge "topics".
You should add "-beta" after the version number of any beta version on the categorizer because of minecraft setting the version to "1.0" when they "released" it.
