Could you please explain to me, why the person who thinks MC is waaay to easy now, (hence lost most of it appeal) have to fiddle with mods, downgrading, settings, maps, etc, etc, etc, and you dont?
Why is not you that should be installing mods, looking for maps, downgrading and "finding the other solutions" if you think/feel that game is too hard for you?
What exactly makes your approach so superior, that others have to bow to it and go throught all this completely unnecessary and tedious hassle, while you do not have to?

Here again, I feel a vibe of superiority coming from you, and intent to make me sound as if I didn't know what I'm talking about.

I'm not saying anything I'm saying is superior. I'm not saying you should do it at all. I'm saying, there's more things to do then whine. I know, mostly it's about criticism. I am an art critic, and I know how it goes. Yes, you can be harsh, but be harsh to the people MAKING the game. All these people, some who respond nicely, trying to put in their opinion, and those who want to force their opinion to be heard by you, why can you not treat them nicely? Why must you sound as if you're trying to obliterate their opinion? Everything you say, makes it sound bad for the other side. You're having a biased opinion here. You assume that I'm not doing anything to my minecraft, such as modding, or any of the sort. I have, to make the game more fun to me. I can take the time to do it, because I actually enjoy minecraft enough that I'll change it around, slightly I must say, to make it more enjoyable than what I want it to be.

If you respond to this with hostility and superiority, I'll be done talking with you sir, because it seems as if I can't get through to you. If, you do however, respond with neutrality or kindness, I will do the same to you.

I'm not going to have any input on this other than a few words, that don't relate to the difficulty.

To the people who are speaking civil, I congratulate you. Now, I'm going to have to be a little more specific. To the people who aren't calling the other side of the argument inadequate or ignorant, or any of the sort, I thank you. I've read every single one of these posts, and there are the few posts I see that are honestly giving their opinion, but without trying to force it on others. When I read the first post, and his other few posts, with the other few people following him, I felt kind of... as if they were being hostile. Anyone with a different opinion, they had some sort of rebuttal (which is, yes a good thing), but they did it in a way that made me feel as if they were thinking they were always right. You have to take other people's opinions into consideration, and look at it in an unbiased way. Here, let me give you an example.

    Amusing.
Gimping yourself is the solution to the game being easy...

It's like me playing chess, unable to find someone at my skill level, resorting to calling my 12years old sister, making stupid moves and letting her win, just to balance things out.
I fail to see how could anyone have fun in a situation like that.

Also in this specific case, I presume I can't enchant anything either, can't use potions, nor breed anything, just to spice things up, and basically losing half the content.

    What an incredible solution.

Here, I'll point out a few factors. One, the sarcastic vibe I'm getting from this, makes it seem as if he's trying to make the other person seem stupid, and ill-informed. Two, he's making links that have a slight relationship, but don't actually relate in any main concept. How does chess, and playing against a new person, while you yourself are purposefully making bad moves, similar? I see your point, I really do, but it's not the same. In your situation, you say you can't find someone at your skill level. Why do you resort to play against your 12 year old sister? There are other options to choose from, and that is certainly not the correct option. Third, have you considered, just downgrading minecraft? It's not modding, it's not changing anything, it's just playing at a previous version. If you think that this is different, then fine. Like I said, there are other options to choose from. Play "Adventure Maps" that people have created. Play with mods (yes, you all have said this ruins the game, but I don't seem to understand how). Do something out of the ordinary, SET A LIMIT TO YOURSELF.

I can't think of anything else to speak of at the moment, but please, if you decide to respond, don't say that everything I'm saying has no value. If you choose to do so, you are enforcing my idea that you put yourself on a pedestal and deem every word you say is correct.

I have a black screen like other people, and I've read some people's fixes, but they haven't worked. I'm not running any mods other than MCPatcher to run HD textures.

is it with 1.0.0 as a particular version?

    I don't know, I haven't downgraded to a previous version yet. I don't think it's a version problem, although it's good to say it.

New update: I got a pure, clean minecraft, with no patches from MCPatcher or the GLSL shader patch. It runs fine, but now I lost my ability to run 32x32 or larger. Any fix?

Edit: The actual problem is that I can't run anything above 32x32, without MCPatcher or with. My computer definitely can handle it, what's the problem?

I'll update the OP. When I say my monitors are turning off, I mean right after my monitors turn off, my desktop (computer) turns off, so I have to turn it back on.

    Yes, I'm running Java 7 64-bit.

    Firstly, my computer specifications.

    Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.110622-1506)
    System Manufacturer: HP-Pavilion
    System Model: KQ497AA-ABA m9340f
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6700 @ 2.66GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GHz
    Memory: 8192MB RAM
    DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Card name: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series

Secondly, I'm running Minecraft 1.0.0, patched with MCPatcher 2.2.2, for HD Textures and HD Fonts. I'm using the Wind Waker Texture Pack at 128x128.

Now, for the crash info. Whenever I start up minecraft, it's running perfectly fine. I'm playing for a bit, and all is in the norm. However, after a little while, my computer decides that it wants to shut off. My dual screens shut down, and then my desktop follows suit. I've done a number of things to try to fix it. At first, I thought it was my server that I was running, but that had nothing to do with it when I ran my server, without me running minecraft. It ran for hours, but never crashed. So, I got back onto the topic of minecraft. I've uninstalled minecraft, and reinstalled, then repatched with MCPatcher. It's a clean file, no mods, no nothing, except for MCPatcher. Like I've said above, I'm running at a 128x128 texture. I've tried allocating more memory to minecraft, up to 2gb of ram. That had no effect either.

This is really bugging me, I can't play minecraft... :sad.gif:

Edit 1: I'm running Java 7 (64-bit). I have to also say something else (even though it is most likely not a contributing factor), I used to have Java 6 Update 29. When I was going to update to Java 7, I did the stupidest thing. I went into C:\Program Files and actually manually deleted Java 6. It's not there anymore whatsoever in the program files folder anymore, so it should be gone. When I went in the Control Panel to delete it the proper way, it's still there. I tried uninstalling it, but I got a "missing .dll error" for it, and I can't uninstall it. It's probably nothing, but it might.
