First order of business: I would like to thank modder jamioflan for creating an amazing mod, and allowing me to post my addon here. Many others would never allow such a thing.
Well hello there! This is not really a standalone mod, but an add-on for Flan's planes (If you didn't figure that out already.) It simply broadens your horizons by giving you a larger, and in some cases more realistic, selection of aircraft of many varieties. It features new sounds, unique textures, and different types of aircraft that can perform in ways not possible before. Now you can race at massive speeds across the countryside, perform loops and rolls effortlessly, and see other conveniences such as attack aircraft at your disposal. I'm working on some new stuff, but if you haven't noticed, development is kind of going slowly now. The poll gave me some valuable input, and I'm tossing around some ideas based on that.

I'll be bringing quite a few new sounds to the pack, and try and fix the ones for the racers. As of now, they're untimed, and they don't always even work.
I've kind of stopped adding aircraft until I can get that source and add some of my own. It will get boring to keep adding similar aircraft, even if their internal characteristics are incredibly different.
More ideas:
"Nachodaddy42" recommended implementing floatplanes. This (or something of its ilk) is an idea I have become determined to accomplish. The only problem is, I don't know if the model physics are apparent for the individual models, or for the entirety of the mod. If it's possible, I'll make it happen.
Rockets have been recommended by very many people. I can try...
And obviously I've heard plenty of crap about nukes. It's just been done so many times! if I DO add something like that, I'm guessing it will be unlike what you expect... More realistic...
As for new aircraft models, I can certainly guarantee. I'll be adding more soon along the lines of Flan's WWII theme. However, I can safely say that even though I'll be mainly developing around the WWII era, everybody will get something they like out of it, even those who want to see huge bombers and jets. If you're wondering how I'll manage to add jets and stay accurate, I plan to implement Nazi technology such as the ME-262 and the P-80 (even though it never saw combat during the conflict, the P-80 was being developed during the latter part of the war, and I would count it as being time-accurate.) I'll also consider adding the P-59A, which was the first jet aircraft flown by the U.S. Developed during the war, it never saw any form of combat, as far as I know, but it provided valuable info to the U.S. Here's a video.
Other models I'll be sure to add are the Cessna O-1E Bird dog, a small strategic multi-role utility aircraft found in both the Korean and Vietnam wars, and a Douglas DC-3/C-47 Dakota. I can't decide which, however. The DC-3 would be able to carry many passengers, but the C-47 would have massive cargo capabilities, as well as being another realistic military aircraft for those war servers out there.
Installation:
Clientside:
1. Follow the steps to install Flan's planes here.
2. Once you have done so correctly, download my pack.
3. Drag the contents of "Jar files" into minecraft.jar.
4. Drag the contents of "Resource files" into resources. Don't overwrite! Just merge the files.
5. Drag the contents of "planes" into... well... planes.
6. Play!
If you want it on your server, make sure you have Flan's planes SMP. Then just drag the contents of "planes" into the planes directory that you added when you installed Flan's planes. (It should be in the same folder as your server.jar.) I HIGHLY recommend using a version ported for bukkit (installation is the same for my pack) because the normal .jar doesn't seem to handle planes very well. You won't be able to get any enjoyment out of it. And, obviously, make sure to turn on hacks! Or all of your players will get kicked for travelling way, WAY too fast!

The W-10 Ambience:
Type: Racer
The W-10 Ambience is a fast racer named for the minecraftian natural setting. It is capable of attaining VERY high speeds, and handles fairly well. However, in the shadow of its big brother, the Streaker, its speed seems miniscule. its high speed is not just for racing: it's an efficient choice for very long distance cargo-hauling and flying. Hard to fly. Get some experience before anything, because if you crash it, it won't survive... much less you.
The W-20 Streaker:
Type: Racer
An obscenely fast (get it) racer that is said to streak past the stands. Though it is the fastest thing in the sky (it would win a race with an ender dragon!) its handling is very poor, and you will need a very long runway to haul off. A difficult aircraft to fly. Like its predecessor, the Ambience, it could be good for those long-haul flights. Note: at any speed, navigating by map is a MUST!
The L-10 Robin:
Type: All-purpose tactical aircraft
This is a mild-mannered aircraft that's good for cargo hauling. But don't let its demeanor fool you: this is an aircraft built for war. Capable of hauling a small amount of goods, bullets, 1 passenger, and even 1 bomb on the wing, the only regret is that it isn't very good at defending itself.
The L-20 Hound Dog:
Type: Light Fighter/attacker
A very capable fighter. Its 3 high-lift surfaces let it take off in a small space, ideal for launching an attack from a small area. However, they don't sacrifice maneuverability, so it's a nimble defender when called for. it has the ability to carry 1-2 bombs on the wings.
The Icarus:
Type: All-out aerobatics
Have you ever attempted a loop or roll and crashed miserably? With a little practice, the "Icarus" is the perfect plane for you. Though its maneuverability if its strong side, without knowing what you're doing, it can be a deathtrap. It's not very fast, and it handles very quickly, so it's not really a good choice for any kind of cross-country flying.
The L-30 Flicker:
Type: Light fighter
The "flicker" provides the means to protect bombers on long range missions, drive villainous hordes off of your base, and strafe encampments, all while doing it with class! It has modest capabilities, but it has a kind of style until now only associated with the mafia. Plus, it's not difficult to craft, so even an ordinary man can experience its capabilities. The only drawback is that its somewhat modest speed means that keeping up with its escort could prove a problem when flying long-haul.
The N-11 Flyte:
Type: Escort fighter
With a decent sized airstrip, you can have a fast, variable-role fighter able to knock of hordes of baddies trying to knock off your hordes of baddies. It might even be good at base defense, in the hands of a skilled pilot. Its flamboyant coloration will also attract comment! Unfortunately, maybe from the enemy...
The Beast:
Type: Experimental cargo hauler
If you have some experience, the "Beast" is your best choice for long-range cargo hauling. Though not nearly as fast as the W-# racer models, it packs an enormous punch, and can handle several times as much cargo. And if you can master it, it's a pleasure to fly. Unfortunately, it has the quirk of being quite difficult to fly for beginners. (It seems easy, but it will act unpredictable when you're lining up on approach...)
