You go collect snow and make it your floor, so you get the good crunch sound :D

What game are you playing? Minecraft snow is anything but crunchy. It's one of the few audio related things I have an issue with. Walking on dirt sounds more like real snow.

I did a pixelated sky thing a long time ago when I first started trying out pixel art, it's mostly a resized picture but you could probably do something similar for the skybox http://cl.ly/794t and http://cl.ly/76Y1

One more mod request; KK's Simple Arrows. He's actually about to release a new version of that mod to coincide with Simple Ores, which would be a perfect pair. I've added support for that mod to a few texture packs (Doku, Sphax, this one but I've kept to myself) since it's so quick and easy to do. It's basically just different arrowhead textures with 1 new bow.

I felt like they slightly upped the FOV in this latest update. Maybe not. But I agree, an FOV slider would be a welcome addition. I usually play the PC version on 85 and my laptop screen is almost as big as my TV. Also, are you playing on an old CRT TV? You know, the big boxy ones. If that's the case, the brightness of the picture tends to blow out the scale of everything. You could probably recover a bit of visibility by lowering the brightness/contrast. But of course, it would get a lot darker.

posted a message on [RANT] The problems with the upcoming 1.8 terrain generation
The terrain generation that came with the beta 1.8 update is what caused me to start losing interest in Minecraft. It got so dull and boring and exploration felt seriously lacking, even though they added all these new gameplay mechanics. Hearing about the Xbox version launching at the equivalent of beta 1.6.6 is the main thing that got me interested in it. The Xbox version is what re-sparked my interest in Minecraft. It felt like the good old days because it was the good old days. If they include the terrain generation in the 1.8 update for the xbox, it would probably kill it for a lot of people. Either that or everyone will be using the same seed in the hopes for some interesting terrain. One way to probably circumvent it would be to create a bunch of new worlds and never play on them before the update. I'll probably be doing that.

Are we just realizing that Microsoft also pressures developers to make content to sell on the market place? You think Microsoft is in the buisness to give things away for free? I mean Bill GAtes has given over half his fortune to charity but there is a reason for this ... because of taxes.

Cash rules everything around me . CREAM. Get the money dollar dollar bill yall! Wutang stole that from microsoft.

You realize that Microsoft literally gives away free MSPoints in their rewards program?

posted a message on What is the quickest way to flatten land?
Why use gold, you say? Because it mines extremely fast. The only point to even being able to craft gold tools is for exactly that. So if you have a ton of gold and want to flatten an area; clear out your inventory, and craft a bunch of gold shovels/pickaxes. Why waste your diamond on dirt?

Dude everything on the pc version is free, once you buy the game.

Why are we now being charged?

Everything is free? What does that include? Mods and skins and texture packs are not provided by Mojang. Mojang charged you for Minecraft, and that's the only "official" thing available right now. Don't forget that those mods and skins and texture packs are made by everyone else (community). That type of thing doesn't exist on consoles and isn't even allowed by Microsoft. Any game modifications (expansions, DLC, etc) have to be provided by the developer, who, of course, are going to charge you for the labor they put into making something.

posted a message on Update 1.7.3 broke my minecraft.
It's probably your xbox. My old xbox (one of the big white ones) before my Slim had similar problems. I found out that it was overheating when I would try to play a game even though other things like Netflix worked fine. Have you tried removing the update and playing the game without installing it? You'll be signed out of Live without the update, but maybe it'll work. Then you'll know if it's the update or your xbox.

posted a message on 1.7.3 :D so now when will 1.8.3 come?
The individual features you guys are mentioning aren't what is going to be the biggest time sink. 4j is going to have to figure out how to either make everything work within a limited map size (limited passive mobs, bigger biomes, entirely new world generation mechanic for example) or re-code the game all over again to be much more efficient and be able to increase the limited world size. Sprinting, vines, mushrooms, and all these other mechanics are a non-issue. Look at the bigger picture.

posted a message on Cartography - Better map items
This seems like a really cool idea. Since the introduction of maps, I've wanted a way to mark the map. The thing I have a problem with is the requirement of bricks for the marker. Bricks are a bit of a pain to obtain and handle and I'd rather spend them on buildings. I assume the red color is necessary for it to show up on the map? It would be much easier to just place red wool down. Also having a whole block to mark an X is a bit obtrusive. Maybe come up with some way to dye snow red (not snow blocks, the thin snow) and have it be placeable. Then it would break quick and easy and not take up too much space. Also having different color markers would be great for marking different things and locations.

posted a message on [1.4.7][Forge] Atmosmobs v1.3.2b - ExtraBiomesXL Support is back!
Have I mentioned how much needed atmosphere this adds to vanilla without drastically changing the game or adding too much clutter like other mods? (I won't name names) Great work. All the sounds from the mobs add so much, but after playing for a while I thought how it could add even more atmophere. There could be just a few more mobs that are specific to biomes and/or times. At night the owls add a lot of night time atmosphere, but I feel like crickets would drastically improve it. Snakes could improve the jungles and/or deserts with their rattling when the players get close (I could only imagine how fantastic their animation would look. Atmosmobs has the best mob animations I've seen yet).

Voted for the Forge version. I don't understand the Forge hate, it makes things easier and increases compatibilities.
On another note; would it be possible to increase the size of the 3d items, including blocks?

posted a message on I just dont understand.....
    People are rude.

They started re-coding Minecraft for the xbox when it was in beta 1.6. If they had been coding each update since then before releasing it, it still would not be out given how frequent the PC updates were and the conversion rate. They had to draw the line somewhere in order to get the game out. Updating the xbox version from the launch state to the current PC state would take quite a long time. They chose to implement incremental updates, but more importantly bug fixes. The xbox version will always be a few versions behind the PC version, that's the nature of it. It will always be playing catch-up. They could implement features of latter updates with sooner ones (like they just did with the 1.8 lighting system in 1.7) but with 1.8 being the next update for the xbox, adding in Creative Mode as a stand-alone update would be pointless.
