getting horrible lag when i look at pretty much anything this patch touches.. water/torches/brick blocks/portals/etc etc.. [surprisingly not lava i believe] i can look at the ground and get little-to no lag but past that if i look up it laggs me to hell and back, 1fps.

The image you posted before was when looking at torches, which the patcher doesn't affect at all. It doesn't affect the texture the particles use. It doesn't even really affect rendering at all. The animations are being drawn on an image at all times in the background, no matter what you're looking at, so any slow down should be constant. I don't have any explanation for what you're experiencing, and it doesn't seem to be happening to anyone else.

My guess is that the MainForm.form isn't be used to initialize all those form elements on the main screen of the patcher. any ideas?

Easiest fix is probably to just use IntelliJ instead of Eclipse. Or you may be able to import the .form into another form designer. I'll figure out how to generate and check in the src for it when I get home next week.

I have some questions of the Source code ( I can't get the compiled version to work, so in order to help debug better, I want to see if there are any specific errors being thrown ).

If you could help with finding the libs to get rid of these erros and add them to the OP, that would be awesome, thanks!

I don't have time to help with the source, unfortunately. Make sure you use 1.1.x branch and just remove the rar support (I am going to soon anyway). There's not really any reason to compile it just to look for errors being thrown, you can do that with the distributed package. I can post a non-packed (i.e. non-obfuscated) jar next week if you want.

This error usually means you are using a 64x64+ texture pack with an unpatched or 32x32 Minecraft. You could maybe try patching for 128x128 and see if it gets you far enough to switch texture packs back to default. Patching for 16x16 with custom water/lava off and no texture pack should also get you basically back to the original.

I messed up and I want to patch it so it is back to normal again. Whenever I open minecraft it goes to a black screen. This is what was on the log window.

Right click the Finder icon on your dock and select "Go to Folder..." In the window that pops up, paste or type ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin and hit enter. Drag the file called "version" to the trash can. Run Minecraft normally and it will download the original again.

You don't have enough memory for it to start up. Sometimes Minecraft doesn't close right and the processes hang around eating up memory. Press ctrl+shift+esc to launch the Windows Task Manager. On the processes tab, click the Image Name column to sort by it. Find any ones that are java.exe and click End Process (this will close any Java apps you have open, like Minecraft, so be careful).

If that doesn't work, or you don't find any java.exe processes, try rebooting.

If it still doesn't work, maybe you'll get a new computer for christmas!

I then realized that the reason I was getting the black screen (and the open GL error) was because I had a texture pack that was enabled from the in-game menu. I restored my options folder, loaded MC and switched back to default textures (from the in-game menu) and repeated the install process and everything works fine. Author may want to put this in the first post. I don't recall seeing it there, probably because the in-game texture loader was recently implemented. I posted this to try to save other idiots like me some time. If this was mentioned in the OP, I apologize in advance for my stupidity.

    java.nio.BufferOverflowException
    	at fu.a(SourceFile:148)

That error suggests you didn't patch or didn't patch for the right resolution. Choose the pack in the patcher and replace the default textures with it. The patcher replaces the hard-coded "all textures are 16x16" with "all textures are 64x64" (or whatever size you pick), so replacing the default textures is the only supported method.

This is something to do with the portals, I think it just was never tested for 256x256 (because 256x256 usually looks awful (and you should be ashamed for wanting to use it)) but I will look into it.

    Quote from slothy89 »
I'm not that stupid.. I wouldn't post without falling those steps first. I've double and triple, even quadruple checked it's properly updated minecraft.

The log messages I quoted indicate that the minecraft.jar the patcher is reading and operating on is not the version it was created for when you ran it that time. Here's why:

Every time a Minecraft update adds new classes, some of the existing classes get different obfuscated names, usually one or two letters further in the alphabet. For everything except custom lava and water, the patcher does not care about the names. It looks for identifying things in the actual compiled bytecode: maybe the portal code says "Hey I'm a portal" somewhere, or maybe lava is drawn with a very specific algorithm, whatever.

The custom water and lava though use replacement classes for the 2 water and 2 lava animation classes. These are all new code and just dropped on top of the old ones. I have to manually change the names every time there is an update. So these log messages:

    Found FlowLava: ey.class
    Replacing ez.class

indicate that the patcher found the actual code that looks like the Flowing Lava code in ey.class. But when I compiled the patcher, I named it ez.class, because that's what it was in my minecraft.jar. So the log you posted shows, with 100% certainty, that the minecraft.jar you patched was not the same as the minecraft.jar the patcher was compiled for.

I realize this doesn't help you actually solve the problem, but there's not really anything else I can tell you. That's what's happening. If you've quadruple checked that everything is right, maybe you are getting a different error now without noticing.

    Quote from copperdomebodha »
Do you think that you could modify this to also alter the offsets for /minecraft.jar/font/default.png file?

My method to patch 32x textures, if u use huge amount of mods, like i )

I assume you have a specific reason for doing this, but I just want to point out that, in general, pulling the patched class files out and treating them as opaque replacement classes will just make the patcher less compatible with other mods. The patcher dynamically determines what needs to be fixed, so if some mod makes minor changes to a class the patcher affects, the patcher will still work fine. If you use the whole class files and there is a collision, you will have to choose one class file or the other.

And by doing that it acts like a crack for minecraft. Not good.

Holster the pitchfork Captain Crusadey McCopyProtector, there is nothing to crack. Minecraft has no copy protection. The executable file you download off the Minecraft website is a launcher. When you enter your name and password into it, it downloads the actual game files. Once you have them, you don't have to log in anymore, you can just fail the login and hit Play Offline, or launch the game from the command line like this patcher does. If you never log in and download the game files, the patcher won't work.

    No.

It will look for a minecraft.jar in the same directory as the patcher and patch that if it exists. Otherwise it will patch the one in .minecraft/bin, so the patch will be there whenever you launch Minecraft normally. So, you should make sure there's no minecraft.jar in the same direcory as the patcher, and if that doesn't work, post your log.
