Xau, have you considered including a new option to automatically install a higher res font.png included with the patcher instead of hoping texture pack makers make and include one in their pack?

Kahr did the font fix. The normal one seems fine to me.

-5 points for not fixing a bug on the mac version that has stopped it working properly since forever.

it still gets stuck at 6%. All boxes checked, 16x texture pack chosen.

You're gonna have to be the one to go the extra mile on this. "It gets stuck at 6%" is not enough information for me to do anything about.

    Feature suggestion: 1024x1024 texture support.

    Not gonna happen.

    Quote from Lucy »
However it only works when I hit the "Test Minecraft" button on the patcher.

With a texture pack > 128x128, on a 32-bit OS, the "Test Minecraft" button will actually reduce the heap size from the default 1024mb to 768mb to leave more room for the native GL library. I'm not sure how to make this happen when you go through the launcher.

I've downloaded the patcher, but it doesn't start! I've java installed properly, so I don't know what's the problem..

Please try running from the command line: java -jar mcpatcher-1.1.12.exe

    Quote from BigBlueGER »
Would it be possible to fix this using this patcher?
Like accepting all changeable textures in the ingame-selector, kinda recoding it...

The in-game texture switcher is not supported. The custom animation classes look directly in minecraft.jar instead of going through the code that picks files out of the right texture pack. If support for the texture switcher is added, that will be fixed with it.

Oh, and why the hell was support for .rar removed?????? I don't like .zip (i've no idea why!) and .jar is a java archive.... which just seems dodgy...

The rar library I was using has patent issues and uses too much memory. Most packs are .zip now because of the texture switcher.

MCPatcher will create a backup the first time it is run after each Minecraft update. Pressing unpatch will restore minecraft.jar to whatever state it was in at that time. It just copies the file in the Original field to the file in the Output field.

Sorry guys, I have been busy and lost track of the thread. As always, if you had an issue before this post, please try this version. If you still have a problem, please post again.

The OP is in desperate need of a rewrite and reorganization and new screenshots, but I don't really have the time to bother. Does anyone want to take a stab at it? Please PM me.

    LATEST UPDATE:
1.1.12 - Improved compatibility with other mods, improved logging, improved error handling, added custom resolution support, added higher resolution font support (include font/default.png in the texture pack, size is independent of pack), added unpatch button, added animation performance warning, removed rar support, removed admin privs requirement on Windows, fixed disabled animations removing sandstone texture.

HEADS UP: rar support is being dropped in the next version of MCPatcher. I don't know if anyone is still distributing packs as rars but you should stop.

    Quote from cboe »

    "JohnSmith Texture Pack"
checked the Texture Pack box then opened the file where the texture pack was located. Then I proceeded to choose the correct tile size (32x32)
But there were no changes in the textures, please help!

That pack comes as a .rar file, which contains a .zip file which is the actual texture pack. You need to unrar it and read the instructions, and select the zip file when patching.

If you select a texture pack and it doesn't automatically set the tile size to the correct value, then there is probably something wrong with the pack.

    found .\minecraft.jar

It's complaining about the minecraft.jar that is in the same folder as the patcher. Please put it in a different directory and follow the steps in the OP. The log you posted doesn't have any patching or Minecraft output.

Out of curiosity, anyone know what actually causes the HD texture glitches? :Sheep:

Animated textures are drawn on top of terrain.png while the game runs, at particular pixel locations. When you use a bigger terrain.png, they're drawn at the wrong place (and are still 16x16).

    Quote from maximumoffence »

Great patcher! Can someone please explain what the 4 different checkboxes for lava and water do? I don't know how to choose between the game's defaults, animated versions that come with the patcher, the blocks from terrain.png, and custom_water_flowing etc.

If you have nothing checked the animations will be removed and the still texture in terrain.png will come through.
If you have "Animated Water" checked the default animations will be resized and drawn over the ones in terrain.png.
If you have "Custom Water" checked and no custom_*.png files, the four flowing water tiles from terrain.png will be scrolled automatically.
If you have "Custom Water" checked and there is a custom_water_flowing.png and/or custom_water_still.png, it will use one square at a time from them going down vertically to animate the water.

    Quote from REGIFISHY »
However, whenever I place a block that has a different texture on top, it just displays this void. While helpful if you want a peek at caves and whatnot, it's not if you're aiming for aesthetic purposes.

It doesn't happen to me and I don't know anything the patcher does that would cause it. Please provide as much detail as possible: a link to the exact .zip you are using, any other mods you have installed, etc.

    Quote from memzak »
Anyways, here's the problem. When I use another mod that adds new items which are NOT in terrain.png and in their own png files, then your mod causes problems once I go HD.

Did you install the mods, and then patch? Please post a patcher log.

    Quote from xhmoobx »
the wools are just plain brown, its not the color that it is suppose to be.

If there's something wrong with your textures there is probably something wrong with your texture pack. The patcher doesn't change anything's color.

everything goes fine, i patch, hit test, the texture i want shows up..... BUT.. when I close Minecraft and relaunch it, the default texture is present.

This sounds like it's patching a different minecraft.jar than you're running normally. Make sure there is no minecraft.jar in the same directory as the patcher and that you're using the normal launcher.

Sometimes the patchers make backups without the other mod there, so when you apply one it starts from a minecraft.jar without the other. You could try wiping out your .minecraft/bin folder, then run Minecraft to redownload, then start and apply one patch, then start and apply the other.
