It's my go-to solution for all things game-related.

    Dishonored? Incendiary rounds.

    Don't Starve? Torches.

    Minecraft? Flint and steel.

I must admit sometimes it backfires and I wind up with a tallboy on my ass or the entire forest burning down while I run around screaming and trying to avoid the bonfires, but hey, omelette, eggs, that sort of thing.

Assassin's Creed? Well, there's always other games to play...

Help. Everything's dark. Torches don't help. What do.

posted a message on Is there a way to remove the tint from grass?
They make my eyes burn (no pun intended). Try working on your tiling. And don't use MS Paint for texturing (as it can't support transparency, and is basically a 3-year-old's box of crayonz compared to GIMP, Photoshop, Paint.Net, GraphicsGale, or other programs worth their salt).

As far as tiling, even though you're trying for molten lava instead of actual grass, try to make it tile well. Right now, I can tell exactly where every grass block is, and with the super bright, high-contrasty colors everywhere, it just hurts to look at. Go look at some tutorials, and look at other people's packs to understand texturing better.

    I did the gold armor.

I figured i'd make it a fancy suit of some kind. I went with tweed, because i thought it seemed like a rather steampunkish material, and it has neat patterns, and gave him a bowtie, because bowties are cool. Each item has a bit of gold on it so you can tell it's gold armor.

The helmet is a bowler, monocle, and giant moustache (i said i was gonna do it, everyone thought i was nuts, but NOW IT'S BEEN DONE!)

There are some bullet holes and blood on the back of the jacket to perhaps give some insight as to what may have happened to its previous owner...

Looks neat with the gold hoe.

This just in: Tweed suits are badass.

I like the wooden planks, but it seems that the lines subdividing the squares into rectangles are nigh invisible in game.

That's what I meant to say.

512x spruce planks. They were made with flooring partially in mind, but they're not too stylized so they don't look out of place when used anywhere else.

    In-game:

PARQUET FLOORING! WOOOH! Maybe it's just the light glaring off of my computer from my bedroom, but the planks to me look a bit dark and hard to see the texture. But I love the parquet. <3

I was kind of thinking that way myself. I'm not sure of it looking bevelled, but I feel, for some reason, like A has a slight bit of a cartoony look somehow. I think I'll still remake it, because I'm not that happy with B, at least, not as happy with it as I want to be, but I will use that style, knowing now that the other style looks... weird.

Are you against making rougher textures for Definitance? I noticed that the textures you've shown so far seem to be sleek and almost like "newly paved", so to speak. No flaws anywhere. Maybe that'd give the brick some character?

    B. Definitely B. A looks too beveled.

I've taken a shot at Dirt (It took so loooong! D:)

    What are your thoughts?

The smaller ones are nice. But those big clumps you've got really make it tile badly. Other than that, it seems really soft and smooth (almost like river rocks). I'd rough it up a bit.

That second one might actually make an interesting texture for iron block. It looks like stacked bars.

You mean the light line across the bottom of the face? I could see what it would look like, but I don't want to go overboard or it will look like a bevelled edge. It is just supposed to be the subtle lighting you would see on back edges.

Haha, that's true. Thinking of it now, I was probably subconsciously going for a bevel thing. So scratch that, don't do it.

It looks better to me. I know you've got some shading on the bottom face of each brick as well. Perhaps try bringing that out a bit more as well? Not as much as the spacing between each brick of course.

I like 'em. They seem like Default textures, but upscaled (which, from past pictures of Definitance, seems kind of like what you're going for. I'd add a little bit of contrast to it (namely in the darks) to bring out the bricks a bit more. Right now it seems like very shallow bumps on a brick wall.
