posted a message on Havic RPG [Massive RPG Mod][Recruiting]
I am recruiting people for a modding team in which we will be coding a Massive Mod. We have a need of Coders(Forge), Modelers, and Texture People.

I have been a part of about 3 Modding Teams so far. Most of them have gone pretty well.
I have Coded quite a bit myself but only have basic skill otherwise I would try and Do all this myself. But I'm still learning and I think I'm getting better.

As I said earlier this is going to be a massive mod so we will need people of pretty high skill level but we will need beginners who can do things like items and tools for coding to do the grunt work. I'm 15 and the way we will be working with others is via a Skype conversation and for Project Collaboration we will be using GitHub but currently I don't know how to set that up but if anybody does I am willing to listen.
The theme for the mod will be something like a RPG, Look below for what part of the mod you want to work on.

    Part's of the mod(Coding):
    Gardening/Food
    Dimensions
    Biomes

    Mob
    Blocks

    Part's of the mod(Modelers)

    I use a desktop application: http://windows.github.com/

From there, I just put my src code in the correct folders and sync it to the web (and vice versa). It's pretty easy to use, for the most part.

Alright I'm downloading it right now, would you be willing to join our modding team? You seem to know what your doing.

'something like a RPG' is a start, but that covers a huge range of things. :P

If this were my massive mod project, I might go about it in smaller modules, so as to make it slightly less 'massive' feeling when trying to start coding it. I might, for example, say, "Hey, I want to add a new kind of leveling system that grants players more HP", then make a mod that does only that. "Now that I've got levels, I want to have magic spells, too. What will they do? How will players get them? etc". Make a mod that adds magic spells, completely separate from your other mod (for the time being).

If you break it up into many smaller mods, not only does it make it easier for you to conceptualize, code, and troubleshoot, but it also makes your massive mod modular, so people can pick and choose what they like and don't like. This will also make distributing the workload simpler - one or two members can devote themselves to just one part, say mobs or items, without worrying about what's going on in the rest of the mod. After you've got all the components, you can put some of them together as the 'core', since certainly some parts will require others, put them all together in a single package or keep them as separate as you want.

Anyway, that's just what I would do. Don't mind me :D

Regarding Github: Go to the site, register, and create a public repository for your mod. Then all your team members (and actually anybody) can submit 'pull requests' - edits to the code - to you for approval. You can review the code and accept it if you like it, called 'merging', or you can decline. Multiple pull requests can be given for the same piece of code and Github will often be able to handle them in the correct manner, which is really handy. There is lots more information about Github online if you do a quick search.

Also about the github thing I meant I don't know how to move the code I've written to github.

Thank you all for the Suggestions!!! I think your making this all easier for me, now all I need is people to help me actually do the mod xD!

    Thanks For the Suggestions :D

You should at least try to answer these questions for those interested when you make such a post:

What will your own role be in the creation of this mod?
How will the code be synchronized between the team members?
What kind of experience do you have with modding and with modding teams and/or programming projects?
    How old are you?

And also it's wise for you to indicate a bit more about the mod, like the theme and such :)
Also it would be smart to mention things like, which skill level do you seek? how many people do you need/want?

By answering these questions in the first post, you increase the chances of getting people interested and you show that you acctually are serious about creating this modding team and not just doing it on a whim :)

    Thanks for the Suggestions!
