posted a message on I haven't got the update aquatic yet? xbox 360

4j said several weeks ago we wouldn't get the aquatic update until they were satisfied that it worked good on legacy edition. What exactly that means is up for debate. The mystery updates this past month are quite weird, theres no changelogs, no word about what they're for afaik. They dont seem to add anything, and they lag my game terribly. Also a lot of world deletion bugs have been reported in the last month, and when I noticed this trend I stopped playing console. Since the aquatic update will be the last major update to console edition on all old gen consoles I'm guessing they want to have it be less buggy than the major updates of the past couple years, and therefore require fewer if any bugfix updates after the fact. If I had to guess I would say that we won't see the 1.13 features until Christmas.

The way they have gone about removing legacy edition from x-one and switch users coupled with the fact that sony didn't lay down for them and take the bedrock deal makes this whole thing kinda suspicious to me, but thats just my opinion. After console basically caught up with java edition at tu31 4j promised that going forward console would be updated shortly after java, and they kept their promise, for the most part, until now. It may just be that they want old gen console to go out with a bang and traditionally Christmas is when we get a major update. Or it may be that Sony (and the rest of us old gen players) are being punished.

The people that were playing aquatic update on youtube six months ago were java players, who can play snapshots, and console players have never been able to do that. I bought java like four months ago now and playing snapshots was cool, but you really wouldn't want to run a survival game in most snapshots anyway. They are generally buggy and unstable. There isn't going to be a part one or part two update like bedrock edition, at least afaik, we will get the whole thing at once like java edition did.

posted a message on Gold farms on Xbox?

On console the pigmen only track you from 16 blocks away, not 32 like on pc. A portal type farm is viable but it has to be smaller than a pc version, and it is slower. There are a couple console design tutorials on youtube.

posted a message on Minecraft Xbox One : Not generated end portal in a strongold

Occasionally the portal room generates completely disconnected from the stronghold.

Its possible that there is no portal room because of the depth that the stronghold generated at, do any of the stairways or rooms lead directly to bedrock?

posted a message on Help understand the current situation with Console/bedrock minecraft

The aquatic update changed a lot about how the game looks. No doubt bedrock looks better now. They may have even improved the controller function, it was terrible flying in creative at launch, and if your a redstoner you spend a fair amount of time in a test world flying to prototype. The technical differences were the real deal breaker for me, the gameplay issues I had probably will be fixed if they haven't been already. It just felt like a broken game to me.

I check out the bugtracker for mcpe once in a while and I really wouldn't want to invest a bunch of time and thought in a survival world that might disappear, or get corrupted for no apparent reason, or any of the other problems that show up in the bugreports. I make backups but I don't wanna have to revert to a backup once a month while they get all this figured out.

I realize its a young and evolving game, and maybe someday when they get some of the major bugs sorted out and we learn a little bit more about the technical aspect of the game it will be appealing to me.

Actually, Soul Sand makes a bubble column which makes items and mobs move upward. Magma Blocks create a downward force which forces mobs and items to go down.

Oops, my bad, you are correct, I had it backwards.

posted a message on Redstone not the same?? Help!!

Quasi-Connectivity is the property of pistons, droppers, and dispensers where the object will recieve power from a powered block that is diagonally adjacent to above, or one block above. This can be most easily seen by taking two pistons facing the same direction and stacking them on top of one another, then place a redstone block on top of the pistons. What you will see is that in bedrock the top piston activates and the bottom one does not, while in java/legacy console both pistons will activate. This behavior is conditional, as the quasi-powered piston needs the right block update at the time it is quasi powered, or in the case of a BUD switch, when the piston gets the appropriate update. This property also allows droppervators built with torch towers, as only one dropper is directly powered by the torch next to it, but the dropper below it gets quasi-powered by the same torch and because of the order in the the way the block updates are handled allows an item to be sent from the quasi-powered dropper to the powered dropper and to the next one upward in the same gametick.

In order to not loose all this functionality they created the observer block, which is a one block bud switch, although they too function different across the three platforms. They can be used in bedrock to create droppervators.

    Hope that makes sense.

    posted a message on Update...

What did you expect? Sony didn't take the bedrock deal, and microsoft is going to punish them for it. Since ps is the only platform still using legacy console and being updated you guys have been put in the back seat. Bedrock is much more profitable than console or java ever was, and was purposely designed that way.

Don't get me wrong, I think its crap, but the reality is you guys will continue to get neglected until either sony says enough or microsoft can get out of their contract without legal action. Either way the outcome will be the same, Minecraft on PlayStation is marked for death.

posted a message on Mob XP Farm

Dungeon spawners still work like normal, although thats not exactly a fast xp source, and its not like they spawn everywhere. The best option currently is trading crops to farmer villagers. The auto villager farms still work, but the trading gui sucks (like all the ui's in bedrock), and you can't do it afk. Portal gold farms might be an option too, although I'm not 100% that pigman spawning from portals works like it does in java/legacy console, or if you get xp from aggro'd pigmen without actually killing them yourself (I played this version for a total of six hours and then deleted it).

Another non-standard option is smelting kelp, which is easy to farm in large quantities, and once you get going its a self feeding process, as the kelp can be crafted into blocks which will provide fuel to keep smelting, you can actually make a decent profit and have all the furnace fuel you need for everything if you do it that way. The downside is you gotta do a lot of crafting, but I think you get the xp now even if you use a hopper to take smelted items out of the furnace and put them in a chest, so this could be automated and afkable.

posted a message on What's the difference?

Lighting issues are in all aquatic update versions, they haven't quite gotten it all figured out yet. It has to do with chunks not updating correctly, both horizontal and vertical. I've also found places that should be dark and the lighting appears to be high enough mobs shouldn't spawn, but they will. So it must be a rendering glitch. I'm sure they'll fix it soon.
