Thanks for all the support you've given me, I really gained a lot of knowledge about pixel art and texturing through the pack, and learned how to interact with fans and tailor my art for you whilst sustaining my own vision. I'm going to take my free-time now and lean into a possible dream-job of making my own games. If any of you are, or know someone, who programs games independently and needs/wants to team up with an artist, give a holler!
I am very disappointed, but I can't help but be thankful for what you have done. You have been an inspiration for much of my own artistic work, including several game prototypes. I can only ask you to release what textures you have, unfinished or not, outdated or not. It would be a real treat to see all of the graphics that never made it into the pack or were lost after updates.
Good luck starting game development, it has been a hobby of mine for several years (though I have never finished anything) and I too hope to release my own game someday. Now I know who to call if I ever need a fantastic artist.
I absolutely love the birds. I absolutely love the spruce planks. Only changes I can see that are needed right now are that the command block is missing two pixels in one of the corners, and the food bar icons still have a border that is one pixel too big.
Actually I'm going to redo the OP once I finish the GUI, and I was thinking of adding a "special thanks" section. I'll be sure to mention you in there for making that!
No problem! I am honored to have it included. Despite being a fan of the old GUI, the new stuff looks good too, keep it up.
They only listen to Reddit nowadays. It's pretty pathetic.
Wow. That explains a lot. I wish they would finally wake up and realize that just because they and some random person on the internet think such and such is a great idea does not mean it is. And frankly, I find Dinnerbone's response downright disgusting. I didn't think I would ever see a developer react that way to a user. Shame he had to spend a precious 5 minutes of his day writing that response isn't it?
That said, I am rather curious as to what the side projects were, levaunt, given the quality of this texture pack.
Thanks! I wasn't expecting you to like it enough to put it in the pack!
There are a few places where the images for the panorama don't line up perfectly, but I hope they aren't too noticeable with all that blur.
I finally got around to making an unofficial menu panorama. This edited pack also includes a fix for the hunger bar background, which was slightly too big, and a symmetrical targeting reticle which I made myself. If you don't want those edits, just replace the icons.png in "gui" with the original one.
There's a good chance that this is a patcher issue, but does anyone else's gravel appear blue when it is falling?
That used to happen to me. I think it is a lighting bug that occurs with entities, but I'm not sure how to fix it. The same thing can happen with minecarts, mobs, signs, even the player.
I just had a chance to try out custom colors, and while most of the biomes are nice, the sky in jungles and swamps is far to blatantly green for my tastes. Maybe a turquoise-ish color would work better?
I'll try to explain what I had in mind. The plant rotates on it's axis at a rate equal to it's rotation around the sun, so that it always appears to face the same direction. So the stars in the sky would never change, unless you went to the other side of the planet to see that side's stars. The moon rotates around the planet, but at a skewed angle, so sometimes it is partially or fully eclipsed with the shadow of the planet. This is all theoretically possible for a planet, though has not be observed yet.
That is true. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea.

Also, I love the menu background, great job on that one

Given that screenshot, you should be. Just don't make the special alt textures too common.

Agreed! (Though I recommend turning clouds off to get a full view of that beautiful sky)

Sure thing! I'm going to wait until I can get optifine running to make mine so I can bump up the render distance.
More suggestions: enchanted item animation, new fire animation, reworked particles
