thats why fire and water start on opposite sides of the map ^.~ the only thing we are SLIGHTLY worried about is fire leading lava to nature and burning world tree, but we will have them spawned far enough that they wont be able to even do that =P
so they will be in 3 diff corners air in middle and earth somewhere
well the use of lava/fire/water is prohibited from anyone who is not an admin but we will be backing up regularly.
well fire still has a massive pool of lava they could lead it to waters capital/bases and cover them and obsidian although that would be a very effective defense against water
A note to all those who began settling on the beta build server. I greatly apologize for the loss of effort that you have put into the old map. Unfortunately we have a corrupted save file and are unable to bring back all your hard work. We are currently creating a new beta build map that will have designated build locations for each faction as apposed to just building anywhere like we had before.

i advise when we actully fighting and destroying stuff to back them map up every 15 mins or so because i can see problems with water and fire
fire attacks water bucket of laval near waters capital could end up losing capital
actually the volcano is at skywall which is 80 blocks above water level that means if you carry it properly you can get it 240 blocks away from the volcano before you have to dig into the ground.

Unfortunately it wont be up till our servers owner wakes up! =( the beta server is being run off his home PC at the moment while we wait for our permanent server.
and again we want that giant slant downwards. Imagine if you will you walk up to a cliff face and look down to see stone (think of it as scorched earth) and then you look further in the distance and see a volcano with lava spewing in every direction and all the fire faction between you and that volcano.

well you'll be pleased to know that we will enable a custom TnT to be used in contested zones to blow up opposing factions forts. The reason we're making our own TnT is so that people cant just hack the real TnT in contested zones and nuke them sky high haha.
Now you will be able to occupy an opposing factions capital, just note it'll be rather hard due to their spawn being there in the capital while yours will have to be set to your factions nearest base camp. Fire will be able to build above ground, anywhere they can direct the lava from their super volcano they can build. It'll be easiest to build below ground just because of the mechanics behind how lava and water path in the game. but above ground housing will be equally easy since the volcanos top will be near the sky wall.
on tnt nice my thoughts make 2 kinds
1 you through and explodes after a few seconds
more or less like normal tnt with some modifications -make it not destroy miniblocks and make it so a few of these(3 mabey) can go through a block of obsidian so forts wonk be invincible at later stages and make this one harder to make(more gunpowder? something harder to get than sand? diff det system?
on fire faction the only problem with the lava is that in the current system the outer blocks of a pool is all that maters and it can only travel 7 blocks so fire is very limited in size unless the can make some sort of reservoirs like nature can
I'm not sure if minecarts work in multiplayer yet. Alot of servers i've been on so far they havent. If i'm mistaken though then minecarts will be added to Earth and maybe Fire. Water can use channels to make traveling quicker while nature and air at the moment have no transport system. (I'll test this out, the log in server is down at the momement so i cant check right now)
Our endgame however will be fought over the land in the center of the 5 factions we do not want capitals to be razed as they will be the focus point of peoples most ambitious building projects which we would like to keep in the server from the time they're created till the game crashes and is never brought back online (lets pray this never happens haha)
EDIT: Forgot to answer your question about the killing each other, Yes you will be permitted to kill other players, team killing however will not be tolerated however.
I also want to note that the razing of other factions structures outside of contested zones (there will be a contested zone for each warring faction) will also not be allowed. We want people to be able to enjoy an immersive PvP game but we also want to appeal to the many builders of the game.
i was refering to capturing the capital not destroying(although being able to blow up strong holds would be cool guys running at a tower with tnt blocks with the other team with bow and arrows or something)
but if fire is going to be near valcanos minecarts would make sense and can fire build above ground just near lava cause i have a thing about castles(mabey not good but loooooooooove castles)
and the idea of a gaint war is what ive always wanted
