posted a message on Snowy turtles?

Apologies if this has been asked before or covered elsewhere, my Google-fu has failed me.

When playing solo I like establishing myself in a snowy biome. It makes the early game a bit more challenging and requires trekking across the world to find just about everything I might need, but that's half the fun. Plus snowfall doesn't make noise, unlike rain.

At any rate, with the release of 1.13 I was excited to add turtles to my stable of mobs but I'm not entirely certain how it would work. Can I make an artificial beach to hatch eggs on, or does they have to be in a proper beach biome? Will they even hatch on a cold/snowy beach?

Is there a way to make a snowy turtle farm work, or am I just SOL so long as I remain where I am?

Basically anything that isn't included in the overworld (I've yet to get to the Nether or End while using your RP - I play... very slowly), though I suppose I could specify tools to be more helpful.

I really just want a full 64x experience while I play, but things like mobs and food items seem to be outside the scope of what you want to do with the pack, which is why I didn't feel right asking you to do more.

Edit: Sorry for the delayed response. I work in construction, which means long hours and not a lot of time for Minecraft some days, let alone forums.

Could anyone recommend me a solid companion pack for this? The disparity between the gorgeous textures of BoS and vanilla pixel graphics is... jarring, to say the least.

So nice to finally find a solid thematic pack that continues to get support. I love it. My only (minor) quibble is with the noise the crows make. They're so much louder than any other mob. I don't suppose there's some way I could turn down the volume on only that sound effect?

Far and away one of the best RPs I've ever encountered. Really hoping for/looking forward to a 1.12 update at some point.

With apologies for the necro, I really hope you can find time to update this for 1.11 at some point. Good medieval-style packs seem so hard to find these days; it's a shame I only discovered yours after it was outdated.

At any rate, thanks for the excellent pack, sir/ma'am, and I hope you're doing well.

It's not complicated. You swing, wait until the bar refills, then swing again. You have to kind of turn it on with the "Attack Indicator" option, which is stupid, but it is what it is. Mobs have become more dangerous, but then you also have shields to help you out.

You always land a crit when you're falling and swing your weapon.

The opposition is not irrational. They have very good reasons, that I will not go into because I've already seen a half-dozen threads go through it over and over. You can find those yourself.

Wait, so I have to jump in addition to timing my attacks now? Jesus Christ.

I didn't say complicated, I said more complex and fiddly - which is even more true now I know jumping factors into it as well.

How is it rational to oppose an option for people playing offline in a single player world to toggle back to the old mechanics? Again, I'm not talking about multiplayer here; while I'd like that as an option for certain servers, I understand it potentially opens a rather large can of worms. I just want to go back to not getting slaughtered by mini zombies every time I venture out of the house at night because I haven't put in the effort to git gud at combat in a sandbox building game.

There's no easy way to turn it off.

The combat update was directed at more than just PvP. If anything it have PvE more in mind.

As for your livestock issue, it's best to get a crit on your animals with a stone axe, as it will kill them in a single hit.

Beacons with the haste effect can also be of use for you as they lower the attack cooldown.

I fail to see how making weapon use more complex and fiddly is in any way beneficial to PvE. But then I don't begin to understand the mentality of those who want more difficulty out of a game which is, to me, virtual LEGOs. If I wanted a challenge I'd be playing something else.

Good to know about the beacons, though I don't imagine I'll have access to that any time soon in my survival world; as mentioned, I basically use it to putz around and unwind after work. How do I get a crit with an axe (for that matter, how do I crit with swords and anything else that can crit too, just so I know)?

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to easily toggle between the old and new combat mechanics, and judging from reactions that a lot of people have on this forums at suggestions about giving the option of choosing your combat style, if Mojang were to implement such a thing there would likely be a massive uproar, despite it being optional and beneficial to you.

So yes, sadly you're stuck with command blocks or dealing with it for now.

See, I totally understand not giving players that choice in multiplayer, as it would undoubtedly prove a massive pain in the ass for server admins everywhere. I just wish there were an option to change it in single player where the only impact my doing so will have is making the game more fun for me again. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, though; I've played enough online games (MMOs in particular) to know irrationally vehement opposition to an optional change which wouldn't affect those who don't want to use it is sadly par for the course. I just wish this one didn't stink so much of sweeping "balance" changes for an arguably minor aspect of the game.

Howdy folks. Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere, I did a search but didn't come up with anything pertinent to what I was looking for. Probably not using the right search terms, but it's difficult to know how to phrase this one without doing a post. Anyway.

I've been away from Minecraft for a while, since shortly before 1.9 released. I'm digging all the new items and mobs, but the combat update is not for me. I get why it was changed and if it makes PvP more engaging for those who are into it, awesome, but, to be frank, I couldn't care less about PvP. I don't even do multiplayer since my friends moved on to ARK, just a local world where I have a nice little farm and mine set up to unwind after work. Which is a lot less relaxing now I'm routinely getting massacred by baby zombies because they move too fast for me to get a solid hit on them.

I've watched a couple YouTube videos that showed how to get rid of the attack cooldown, but that seems to involve spawning a command block and writing out a line which might as well be written in Russian for all I'm able to understand it. Besides which, it's not just the cooldown that's the problem, the wide swing arc on the sword is screwing with me too. When I try to kill some livestock to harvest meat and bring my herds back down to breeding level I invariably hit two or three of the things, sometimes killing multiple at once, which throws off my count. I could just use the axe, I suppose, but between the cooldown time and the mob running around after I hit it and getting lost among its fellows it could take a substantial chunk of an in-game day to get the number I need.

Is there a way to toggle back to the old mechanics just in my game? Or am I stuck with the choice between the command block option and just learning to live with the new mechanics?
