Jan 14, 2012wolfendoom posted a message on 1.8 Updates: Endermen or Farlanders?Enderman just sounds corny and stupid. I hate to even think of them as men, I think of them as people who have gone to limbo or maybe just pure embodiments of magic/evil/darkness/any of the pre-mentioned. I much, much prefer the name Farlander, because the Far lands are creepy, scary, and they look like a MOB that comes from that realm.Posted in: News

Hey I wrote an article about Notch stepping down. It's on my blog: http://minekatie.blogspot.com/2011/12/notch-to-step-down-as-lead-minecraft.html
Check it out! :smile.gif:
The game has brought in over $50 million, and Notch has used that money to further resources.
You mean go on vacations -

I'm both upset and happy with Notch's decision.
He chose to do this, nothing will make him change his mind as he was not requested of this.
Also, while Notch is awesome and created Minecraft, Jeb is still cool. No reason to start a flame war on either guys.
Just to remind you guys of what eash these guys did.
Notch= Made Minecraft, added Ender stuff, added achievements, and new combat stuff.
Jeb= Added wolves, weather, planning to add API, probably more stuff to come. *COUGH Dungeons and Levers*
Yes, hopefully he will add more... *COUGH CTF mode* *COUGH Villager AI*
And he'd better add overworld dragons and a sky dimension. :angry.gif: -

I wish there was a -1 button.
Jeb has done SO MUCH to minecraft.
Notch is, I have to admit, lazy.
True.
Notch did create the game, but Jeb has been continuing it, and more than Notch has. Also, it appears that Jeb is going to do some of the things that Notch has promised since the beginning of minecraft. They finally made apples fall from trees, so I suspect they will add things such as cocoa plants, pig riding being improved, and being able to write in books. The only thing I'm worried about with Jeb in charge is that apparently he hates dragons... I want overworld dragons really, really badly, and they still should add a few more RPG-ish overworld MOBs like rats, bats, snakes, ghosts, and goblins to the game. -

I support all the way. Notch is a good developer, but he's kind of lazy. :tongue.gif: Hopefully Jeb will complete some unfinished things, like ways to grow cacao beans, better pig riding, etc.
Also, I'm really surprised that everyone's upset over Jeb being the lead dev, because he's done alot of work compared to Notch in the last little while. :tongue.gif: He's also been doing more important things, whilst Notch has been adding mushroom cows (when shrooms are already extremely easy to get in swamps + with bone meal) -
Dec 1, 2011wolfendoom posted a message on New Prerelease is AvailableYES, YES, YES, they're FINALLY making apples fall from trees!Posted in: News
They ought to be much less rare though, perhaps a 1/50 chance? But thats pretty cool!
Not going to play this just for the apples though, because my favourite server has an apples from all trees plugin + I'm also not going to play this because of all of the bugs -

TESTIFICATE #345 HAS SIGHTED A HORDE OF ZOMBIES IN THE DISTANCE! SOUND THE ALARM AND MOBILIZE THE GOLEMS! CLOSE THE GATES AND FIGHT THEM OFF AS LONG AS YOU CAN!!!
Wouldn't this just ruin it for everyone on SMP though?

No, not at all! I'm just saying that we shouldn't have to watch out for them, they would avoid it if they really didn't like blood and such, or their parents wouldn't allow them to play. And minecraft wasn't made for any specific age group in mind.
Also, see, this is why its OPTIONAL.

Keep in mind that children play call of duty and halo, swear, get pregnant, get drunk, and do all sorts of stuff like that. Pixellated fake looking blood in Minecraft is the last thing that needs to be worried about. I would rather not have to skimp out on a feature just because any small children who happen to play might get grossed out

The thing is,
a ) Full moons are very easy to avoid. You could just sleep if you are in single player, and block off your doors with even just dirt or something to stop things from breaking in and murdering you.
b ) Full moons are also very rare. They would be more of a "fun" event for people like me who enjoy slaughtering hordes of monsters, and it would also be a bit of a farming event since armoured MOBs would spawn more, and then if people don't enjoy battling monsters, they could just mine or sleep. Actually, full moons would give beds some purpose.
Also, changing my idea of the sound, and it would be 1.5 spawn rate instead

- When you attack an enemy with a sword, it will sound like you are slicing open something quickly with a sword, whether its flesh or metal.
- When you hit an enemy with your fist, it would make a punching sound, like the one in Spiderman.
- Blood would be an optional feature. It would be off by default, but possible to turn on if you wanted.
It would be just a particle effect that comes off like smoke or dust. Creepers would have grey blood, endermen would have purple blood, zombie pigs and slimes would have green blood, ghasts would have light blue blood, blaze and magma cube "blood" would be orange, skeletons would have white "blood", and every other MOB would have red blood.
- This will be an optional feature as well, turned off by default. When you defeat a MOB, its body parts should slip off and fall to the floor, and THEN disappear, rather than the whole corpse just falling back and disappearing at once. Optional, because some people might lag too much, or just prefer the old death.
If blood is on, then severed body parts will keep bleeding after death until they disappear.

Its way past that phase though, man, since the enchantments have been added

And I support. This would be amazing for creating gothic castles and awesome looking fortresses. I can imagine so much badassery coming from this.

- A scary deep laugh sound will play and there will be a message displayed in the chat saying FULL MOON
- MOB spawn rates will be multiplied by 1.5
- The chance of MOBs being armoured and of zombies wielding weaponry is boosted to 5% instead of 0.5%
- Creepers will have a 5% chance of spawning with a super charge
- Endermen will attack on sight if you come close to them (within 10 blocks) [Note that you can simply run into water if you accidentally come near an enderman]
- Wild wolves will become angry, but not tamed wolves
- Cave spiders will have a small chance of spawning along with the regular spiders
- Bats will attack you on sight
- If witches are only going to spawn in huts, then witches will spawn all over the place on full moons, but only on grass and with a bit less than the rarity of endermen
- THERE WILL BE A NEW MOB
And this new MOB is: The werewolf!
Werewolves are zombies, but with twice the amount of health, twice the damage, and when they are close to death, they will go berserk. Their eyes will become red instead of yellow, they will howl, and they will move twice as fast. Upon death, they drop leather and bones.
Berserked or not, they break down doors 4 times as fast.
At day time, they will turn into villagers with scraggly looking robes who will run away if you come near him. He drops nothing and will despawn after 60 seconds.

I think that the witch is fine. Witches are simply testificates who use potions for evil, and (HOPEFULLY) they'll be found all over the overworld in the dark. And I love the witches because they're not just one sided -- they drink potions to protect themselves from fire, drink their health back, and throw poison and damage potions at you. They're great.
However though, I do really want more MOBs that fight with some intelligence and use multiple ways to kill you and protect themselves. Its not only challenging, its also badass. Imagine if skeletons pulled out iron swords when you came close to them and started slicing you until you moved back away, or if zombies puked poisonous pile on you before dying and then exploded, or if endermen extended out claws and sliced your head off... BRUTAL
But thats enough of my rambling. TL;DR: I think the witch is perfect, and it really shouldn't go any further into the stereotypical direction.

No support :/

I agree, it should be very easy to obtain. To nerf it a bit however, they should make it be more essential. For example, all armour would require a piece of the same armour, but made of leather, to craft. (Except for chainmail, chainmail would utilize just iron.)
Maybe bows should require a piece of leather too (but they really really need to nerf the drop rates of bows from skellies!)
Anyway, my idea is that cows should drop 6 to 12 leather upon death. We shouldn't be able to smelt rotten flesh into leather though, because that will make cows pointless.

Because they have rare chances of dropping their loot upon death, I thought they'd be relatively common. I think they should be found in these witch huts and I like your idea, but I want to see witches spawn in the dark in general all over the overworld, with at least the spawn rate that endermen have.
Witches also seem like a support MOB because of their poison, and they are very easy to kill, you can kill them faster than you can kill a zombie or a skeleton when you use a stone sword. Maybe they should be more common than endermen, but the only thing I am worrying about is that n00bs may get pwned since the witches won't die in sunlight.
