Welcome to my tutorial on how to colour and format your servers MOTD! If you're here then you have probably tried to do a MOTD such as "&5TehKitti's Awesome Server!". Sadly though, to your surprise it showed up like this.
Thankfully though this tutorial is written on how to get it working! First we're going to need to get rid of the &5 and make the MOTD "TehKitti's Awesome Server!" again. Before we more in depth to tutorial lets go over the colour and formatting codes again.
0 - BLACK
1 - DARK BLUE
2 - DARK GREEN
3 - DARK AQUA
4 - DARK RED
5 - DARK PURPLE
6 - GOLD
7 - GRAY
8 - DARK GRAY
9 - INDIGO
a - GREEN
b - AQUA
c - RED
d - PINK
e - YELLOW
f - WHITE
k - Obfuscated
l - Bold
m - Strikethrough
n - Underline
o - Italic
r - Reset
Now, in order to get our MOTD coloured or formatted we need to put \u00A7 instead of the &. So something like &5 would turn into \u00A75. The full list of these is listed below.

\u00A75 - DARK PURPLE

\u00A7c - RED
\u00A7d - PINK

After replacing the &5 in my MOTD with \u00A75 my MOTD looks something like this.
