posted a message on WhiteWingDevils: Adventures in SMP
Heyall, I'm running an SMP server with a bunch of guys I've come to know through Minecraft, we're having lots of fun and building some crazy stuff.

Does anyone have any ideas for keeping an SMP server alive/interesting without using mods or plugins?

This is the first video of the series:

The problem is that a lot of the code the the CraftBukkit API was changed to match with the 1.2 patch, breaking ALL plugins that aren't updated to work with 1.1-R5 or better.

Just wait a week or two and bug your plugin creator to update.

    124.188.17.104:25565

My new server, located in Victoria, Australia. Running the current snapshot and intended to be updated with each new snapshot. No server mods of any kind, no OPs and no whitelist.

I'm still testing my setup here, and I'm looking for some people to help out. If you'd be so kind as to connect in, build things, break things, live, die, kill and so on, and let me know how the server is handling. I have a base halfway set up near 0, 0 if you'd like to ransack my house for tools, food, materials etc.

At the moment I've restricted the number of slots to 6, since I doubt my upload speeds can handle much more than that anyway. The hardware could easily, but I'm still sorting the net side of things out

You can contact me here on the forums, or at [email protected]

posted a message on Simple AB-BA Switch, or Redstone Series Inverter
Cheers, I wasn't aware of the 1.5 tick requirement for pistons, when I implemented it in my machine I actually had the timings set to be equal on both ends, and removed the redstone torch from the B output, so it was using a 2-tick delay.

posted a message on Simple AB-BA Switch, or Redstone Series Inverter
Hey guys, I was playing around with the circuits needed for my enchanting room setup, trying to get the components to act serially and then invert their order when power is turned off.
I stumbled onto this design for an AB-BA switch, and haven't been able to find anything quite the same anywhere.
    Thoughts?

Basically the way it operates is that on the rising edge it activates first the 2tick repeater, then the 3tick, then the 4tick, as you'd expect, but on the falling edge it invert due to the 4tick keeping the block it's attached to powered.

posted a message on EATS Roads now completely broken
Near as I can tell (not an expert) the dispenser still works, if a little glitchy. Boats don't like touching other boats.
Wait, that's if you mean the multiple boat storage. If you mean the door-activated boats, that allow you to enter a boat and release it, that still works, as long as the boat is moving EXTREMELY slowly when it hits the door.

The easy loader for EATS roads still works, but it's never been all that reliable since the water mechanics changes.

As far as the roads themselves are concerned, if you want to go absolutely straight and break the boat at the end, they kinda work, though I've had boats smash themselves to pieces simply from moving too fast. If you want to turn, stop, slow down, or otherwise actually USE the road for something, then no dice.

Those are the boat roads that Etho made right?

Yeah, and they're my favourite mode of transport in Minecraft.
It's strange too, 1.8 made them easier to build, and now?
If you want to move a boat in a straight line while riding it, you gotta jump through hoops.
Want to make a single 90 degree turn? Hope for a miracle. Best I've been able to do is build a system where 1 in 3 boats don't smash in the corners, when they have no passenger. With a passenger? 100% failure rate.

I've been playing RC2 all day, and I just finished building, modifying and testing a series of EATS roads designs, and it's sad to see, but it looks like they're completely broken.
Boats break easier (if you so much as breathe on them) and seem to be a lot floatier, taking longer to brake or slow down, compounding the difficulty of keeping the damned things alive.

I've been at this for 3 hours now, if anyone has a working EATS road system in RC2, I'd love to see it. If not, then I shall mourn Minecraft's loss.
