Part of the reason was because the pedia is a great opportunity to impart some facts about the actual dinosaurs included in the mod. Much of the first page will show the same information as before, though flipping to the second page will show a brief facts sheet of the dinosaur. As you can see, there's not a whole lot of space to work with, so the information needs to be short or it is too much.
We are also doing something similar with the Archaeologists Notebook, where we can add artifacts based off actual found artifacts and give dates and other interesting facts about them and the kinds of people that existed then.
While this doesn't add anything to gameplay, archaeology and paleontology is all about discovering and learning about all these things and judging by the responses here I'm sure a lot of you people will enjoy it.
So the question of the day is, what kind of information specifically would you guys want to see included in the dinopedia and notebook? -

So i was trying out the pre release and i was messing about with the dinos and when i spawned sabercat and the mamoth they both had a missing texture, the mosasorus goes a bit out of control when fully grown and it never dives into the water, when giving the baby mamoth chicken essence there is a growth bug were it grows them into a adult instantley and the tyranosaurus rex doesn't grow with chicken essence so that's some new bugs found for you guys.

Non-dinosaur entities are still WIP, so the mammoth is not really a bug right now.
The Rex are normally not affected by chicken essence.

They're there, just keep looking.
Forgot to add taking spino dna it to the cultivator. Will be fixed.
Most likely in the next few days there will be another pre release with more bug fixes. -

Chances are you didn't extract the Fossils mod as stated in the instructions on the first post. Right now we're getting it so you won't have to unzip it in the future, which will make it play more nicely when installing with mod packs.
That only makes one of us that thinks that, yeh?
So I've spent the past few nights overhauling the language support, and that's been time consuming changing everything over. The benefit of doing this is you would no longer have to unzip the mod in order to make it run properly. I'm about half way through this process, and as soon as I finish that we'll just release a pre-release and go from there.
We're close and working hard on it. With all the changes that needed to be done I don't feel comfortable with even a pre-release that makes it feel like we've stepped back several versions instead of moving forward.
If you're really that impatient you can always grab the dev build off the 1.5.2 branch on the github and compile it, if you want to play on 1.5.2 with it. The current commit compiles and runs, but there's still some work to be done to make it work with the new things in 1.5.2.

Any thoughts on maybe adding some loyalty AI to the tamed pets? I would really like it if my scorpion pets would help me out if I am being attacked. Taming sharks is cool but they don't attack other sharks when I'm being eaten =( That would be a nice feature and also if they actively hunted piranha that were near them. -

HE LIES!!... well not really, the modles are alright but the animations are terrible compared to this mod. I also dont really think that these two mods are even comparable. Paleocraft is going souly for realistic were this mod is going for the fun experience of archaeology and dino's are a bonus.

I'm not trying to get ahead of myself but will dinos be able to be leashed by the vanilla leash? I know there is no way of testing that out right now but do any of the coders know if that's possible?

I think it could also be a way to get more bio fossil. If you brake it before its completely uncovered then you only get a small portion of the bio fossil that you could have gotten had you been more careful.

What do u guys think of dino skeletons sponning naturally under ground and then players having to actually excavate them to get the bio fossils. I think that sounds kinda cool and "archaeological"
