Not sure if this is related, but on debian 32bit when I switch between workspaces and observe the minecraft process via htop, I can visibly see the memory and cpu usage continously rise untill I swap back to the workspace that minecraft is on. I can repeat this so it definately looks like something is wrong. When it crashes due to this is makes a huge amount of java.io.IOException: Stream closed messages, and freeze my computer for up to 45 seconds.

    If it helps:
    distro: debian testing
    WM: openbox
no compositor running for testing of what caused this

Honestly, what is up with you "this is immature" people ? If video games are so immature, what are you doing playing them ? Are you so afraid of something different in terms of a solution that you fall back to classifying this in the generic "That's immature" or "That's stupid" categories ? I'm not trolling, or at least not trying to, I just would like to know why people who obviously enjoy playing video games find someone trying to suggest an interesting and unique possible suggestion to a stupid problem to begin with to be acting immature.

    Yes, I would.

Solving issues with games is immature.

I'm sorry, normally I would ignore something like that, and if you were joking then please disregard this, but are you honestly saying that playing a game instead of fighting a war is stupid ? So, having hundreds if not thousands of people dieing over random political stupidity is mature ? While settling the matters peacefully (that is, without any loss of life) is immature ?

Yeah, my clan's favorite game was down today, so we ended up having a weird mortal kombat type thing in a chat program. We kept changing each other's channel and spamming at one another.

edit - also, yay for 100th post !

Alright, here is my last ramble before I get some much needed sleep lol.
    http://www.celestialimpact.com/

try this, it has destructible terrain in an fps environment. It is online only, and idk how active the servers are, but I think it qualifys as sort of like minecraft. Sorry if I'm completely wrong though.

The old Infiniminer; if you can get your hands on a server and an actual copy of the game. It was the source code and activities that Minecraft was based off; so I'm assuming that it is like it. But finding it may take a while.

I make the frames of my image, use infranview to batch convert them to .gif, then use UnFREEze to make them animated.

I've found that this works with finite liquid, as long as you set it not to grab the liquid id's, not sure about pipes yet.

At 52 seconds in, this is what will happen. Now we just need a mod for the computers, and the better physics mod for the cave in :unsure.gif:

The thing is a strong server could handle it. The biggest problem they'd have is honeydew getting at the controls =/

If he got behind the controls, he would probably manage to break out of the server into the next one over. I'm getting the planes mod for anti-air just in case lol.

It's weird though cause i can run tmi, better than wolves, millionaire, zombe's pack, and minecolony so far. This is the first one that has had any problems. Oh well i guess. :/

If it makes you feel any better, I can't use the Aether :sad.gif:

The Skyhold in The Yogscast should have this once you have SMP in. That would be freaking epic!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would redefine epicness. It would also lag more than running crysis maxed on an old cellphone.
