Getting started in AM2 is quite simple to do.
First, you need to find a pool of liquid etherium:
Place an item frame within a few blocks of the pool, and put a book into the item frame, and watch the show.
This will give you the Arcane Compendium, which has everything you need to continue using the mod, from guides, to structures, to items, to bosses.
The Compendium by default is staged to unlock as you go - this can be turned off via config.
Keep in mind, the compendium doesn't limit progress, so even if something is locked, you can still craft and use it. Using and crafting items/blocks that you haven't yet unlocked will unlock them, as well as other items directly related to them.

A brief note about 1.7.2/1.7.10 - I do not guarantee complete stability! This is a late BETA version and may have problems. Of these, note that shrink doesn't reduce your viewport properly and thus is exploitable. On servers you may want to disable it. Also the Ender Boots do not properly flip your view. There may be others! You have been warned!

I have a question... (bug reporting instructions too)
I'm having trouble with Optifine...
AM2 supports Optifine only in the main mods directory. It will not work if optifine is in a subdirectory. Move optifine there and it should work.
Note that disabling optifine by changing the extension to .disabled currently will not work - you need to move it out of the folder completely.
When is the next update?
When it's ready.
Something Something Something Complaining About Textures
I never claimed to be an artist. Go make your own texture pack. If you do, feel free to send me a message and I can put a link to it in this post.
- Your mod pack needs a link back to this forum post
- You cannot make any money off of the mod pack
- You cannot claim that you made any part of the mod, and you must give credit to the author of the mod (Mithion)

Note: I haven't bothered to decompile the mod and look at the code (where's the fun in that? ), so these descriptions may not be entirely accurate.
You will find a cache of coal. -> Chance of extra coal when mining coal ore. Tested 17-19 extra coal when mining a coal ore.
You will encounter a walking tree. -> An Ent will soon spawn nearby.
You have angered the crone (and her sisters). -> Babba Yaga will soon come for you. Be prepared for a fight.
You will stumble and fall. -> A 3x3 pit 5 blocks deep will open up beneath you. You will land on a bed of gravel.
You will get wet. -> Find some water quickly, or the water will find you. Spawns a 3x3 pool of water, above a bed of gravel, beneath you.
You will be inundated with iron. -> Chance of an extra iron ore when mining iron. A stack of 64 yielded 13 extra ore.
You will chance upon the undead. -> A zombie will soon spawn.
You will be saved by a stranger. -> A minion of the Horned One, a wolf with glowing red eyes, will appear and defend you, or an owl will appear to defend you when you are attacked by a player.
You will be struck by an arrow. -> A skeleton will soon spawn. Bring a flak jacket.
You will find a buried treasure. -> You will find a dungeon chest under a dirt block that you dig.
You will take a trip to the nether. -> A demon has been watching you and transposed you to the nether. -> A blaze spawns nearby.
You will make a new friend. -> A friendly wolf will soon spawn nearby.
You will find shinies. -> You will find emeralds while mining stone.
I've also found that it is a lot more enjoyable to flavor the fortunes when you go around reading other players on the server. For example, when reading the cache of coal, rather than saying "You'll get about 15 more coal when you mine a coal ore." Tell them something along the lines of "I see your hands are strong and square from days working in the mine. Bring deeper pockets on your next trip; this dedication will soon pay off."

Here's a hint. Try mining some iron ore. You may find more than you expected.
Also, perhaps it's possible to squeeze this into the 0.13.1 release. The half slab recipes for Hawthorn, Alder, and Rowan planks return oak wood slabs instead. This was tested in version 0.13.0 with only witchery installed.

Due to the implementation of minecraft's brewing system, depending on the order you add components, two identical potions can have very different item values. This is the case when making dream weavers. The crafting recipie requests for example, an extended splash potion of slowness.
If you add a fermented spider eye to a extended potion of swiftness first, followed by gunpowder you get item 373:16458 which works in the recipie. If you reverse the order, adding gunpowder first then corrupting the splash potion of swiftness, you get item 373:24650 which does not work in the crafting recipie.
This is only the case for the dream weaver of Iron Arm, and Fleet Foot. The dream weaver of Fasting has both recipies already.
On another note, might I suggest that the broom be the tool of choice for cleaning up ritual circles. The glyphs only take a short while to mine with a pickaxe, yet with the number of glyps in a circle, that can definitely add up.

This allows me to set up an apothacary were people place into leech chests written books with their name, payment, and type of poppet they want. When a leach chest fills up, I can have it flip an RS-Nor latch and turn off a redstone lamp, directing people to use a different chest.
I can them come by later, collect the taglocks, make the poppets, and deliver them to their respective customers.

Tiny Witch Hat - Similar effect as the regular witch hat when brewing in the kettle.
Tiny Warlock Robes - Altar power discount for items placed in the circle by this golem
Infusion of Nature - Golems and stone giants are usually portrayed with plants and moss growing on them in many works of fiction. This infusion requires mossy cobble stone, vines, hint of rebirth, and the golem you wish to infuse. The resulting golem is covered in moss and gains a few benefits based on how much natury blocks are nearby. A few good ones might be regeneration, occasionally apply bonemeal in the area around itself, and/or turn into random plant/sapling/tree upon death. (I particularly like the last one)
Also, I just wanted to say amazing work on this mod. It is by far one of my favorites up there with Thaumcraft and Ars Magica.

Now now, no need to shout.
Anyways, I noticed the super long motd. Can't wait for the multiline feature coming in 1.7.
