posted a message on Nether Highway questions

    1) What is the best level for the highway? I prefer to build it under the roof so I've seen 115 suggested as a good level.

    2) How do people move up and down quickly in the nether? Bubble columns don't work so do people use stairs or something else?

    3) Are most ice highways made in straight lines - which makes for a longer route? Or is making diagonal lines worth the trouble?

If you want 'extended' Minecraft you're probably best off getting the Java version and experimenting with Modpacks like FTB.

posted a message on Where do you tend to build your mob farms?

I ended up building a simple creeper farm near my base at ground level so it would be convienent and frequently active. Drop rate was very low unless I used an AFK spot way up a scaffold. So I went looking for caves and found I had build on top of a massive cave network that included an underground cavern. 5 stacks of torches later I decided it was good enough. :)

I can't really tell what I'm looking at because of your camera angles and perspective -- but I like it! It seems to really fit in with the vibe of the nether.

I make a copy of the Worlds directory manually each week so that if something happens to our world (corrupted chunks, one of the kids going too far with griefing, etc.) I can restore it to a known good point.

I'm usually watching youtube to learn how to do something so I like Pixlriffs, Griam, and sometimes Pewdiepie for MC entertainment.

posted a message on Build at spawn or Adventure?

I've only played in 1 MC world. I joined when my daughter asked me to play with her in a new world. We ventured far enough from the mountain spawn point to find a plain biome and started building there. There is nothing exceptional about the terrain, but I like it quite a lot.

My kids like to create a world, mess around with it for a short while - and then start a new one. I like to fully invest in one world and try to make it into something nice. I have a hard time imagining starting over again.

posted a message on Always Offline

You should be able to play split screen if you are both on the xbox. If you want to play together on a mix of devices either one of you need to subscribe to realms and that person will host the game - or - download and run a bedrock dedicated server on one of your PC's (I think this is a much better solution if you have a decent computer).

If you want to see each other online while you are on the computer I think you need to install the 'xbox console companion' app on your PC.

Not likely, but you could call microsoft support and give it a shot.
