It's a zombie village. There should be one or two zombies living in the village. You can trap them and convert them back into normal villagers to try to get the village going again.
Note, you will need to replace the doors if you want to repopulate. You can cut out the spider webs with scissors or a sword.
When the lastest update hit this week I got an incompatible server error when I started MC on Win 10. I made a copy of my existing world, downloaded and installed the BDS, reapplied the world and config files to the new release - and everything is running.
It seems like the download page would at least show the current version.
Has MC said anything about when the BDS server will be moved out of Alpha?
I don't have a PS4, but sugar cane is growing on my Win 10 Bedrock Dedicated Server after the new release. Are you staying close enough to the plants to make sure their chuck is activated? Have you tried applying some bone meal to get them kickstarted?
The Grindstone removes enchantments from an item placed in it - and gives some amount of XP back to the player. If you go fishing you can get lots of extra enchanted bows and fishing rods for the grindstone.
I've got the Bedrock Server running on a Win 10 computer on my LAN. I connect to it from a Win 10 computer and an XBOX.
My question is what happens when an update to Bedrock Minecraft is released? How do I keep everything in sync? The Bedrock Server page doesn't list the current release or prior releases versions.
I'm connecting to a Bedrock server hosted on my LAN.
Is there a Windows or Minecraft option I don't know about? Windows is setup to 'never sleep'. Other games that connect to internet servers run fine when the screen is locked.
Well, dirt doesn't yield XP so it never mends the shovel, right? Can you get enough XP from shoveling gravel when you come across flint?
The only other way I can think to get XP would be to use the shovel on Ore blocks but I want to mine those with my Mending Pickaxe so it stays at full health.
Is there another way on Bedrock? Otherwise I'm thinking mending on a shovel is not worth it (I got a bunch of mending books from AFK fishing - which is incredibly powerful for enchanting)
Is it true that the anvil adds "a bonus of 12% of the maximum durability" when combining two items while the grindstone only adds "5% of the tool's maximum durability"? A crafting table does not give a bonus to durabilty as far as I can tell when combining items.
If I'm trying to combine several looted tridents to make a fully repaired one it seems the anvil is the better choice - and then run the repaired trident through a grindstone to remove prior work cost from the anvil.
Is that the best approach if I don't care about the XP cost on the anvil?
I've seen this in videos, but can't get it to work using the 'drag with middle button' technique. Does it only work in Java edition?
I'm using the default keyboard/mouse configuration. I know my scroll wheel middle button works because I can use it to click on an item and have it appear in my hotbar.
I'm trying to figure this out so I can test an item sorter.

Not likely, but you could call microsoft support and give it a shot.

There is a white screen during the startup process, but it should not last very long before showing a 'loading' progress bar.
Have you tried applying windows updates and re-downloading and installing Minecraft (to make sure you didn't have a corrupted download).

Thanks, these replies pointed me to different ways of getting XP on a mending tool.
Holding the shovel while using the grindstone on all the extra rods & bows I'm getting from a fish farm is working well for me.

Since apparently you can only put the shovel in the off hand in JE.

I like forums because they create an archival source of information - although they aren't as popular as they once were.
Is the discord more of an online help chat, or a hang out place for people who enjoy minecraft to discuss? How is it different/better than the forum?

Thanks. I see you posted an image from the page I referred to on the wiki that I didn't study.
