posted a message on The Betweenlands ~ A dark, hostile environment...
Hey everyone! It's really sad the mod has to be cancelled after all the work that went into it, but what can you do... But i'm not gonna let the spirit of the mod die, I'm going to release the whole soundtrack that I created for the mod as a download on Bandcamp. The reason why I didn't respond on this thread sooner was because I've been in the process of remastering the songs, and it's almost done so I'll be ready to release the album in a few days! :) Stay tuned, I hope ya'll will like it :)

Until then... the closest to fame I've ever been :') Thank you all of you!!!!

posted a message on Songs that make you emotional.

I know someday you'll have a beautiful life,
I know you'll be the sun in somebody else's sky,
But why, why can't it be mine?

Eddie Vedder said something along the lines of this about the song:
'It's a true story, and I relive that story every time I sing the song'

So! I sent my fellow team members not one, not two but 4 short little music tracks! Now, I don't know if MrCompost or the team will actually approve of them for use in the mod, but we'll see!

If they don't, I gave permission to one of our other team members to use them (If they aren't used in the Betweenlands), so you guys will hear them either way :D

I play the euphonium as well but I've never had to play anything that tough. I can't really offer any advice due to that, but I wish you luck! Really with music, it's just practice, practice, practice.

Nice. If I had an Xbox, I'd prefer this, because I like having physical copies of games.

Heh, so if Mojang turned into EA? I'd probably still play the game, I'd just never use any of the paid features.

posted a message on Whats the most recent song that you sung?
Johnny Cash's version of Hurt. I kind of like the original better, but I chose to sing Cash's because it's in the key of A minor rather than B minor :P I have a pretty poor singing range (I don't really practice often) so I find it easier to sing lower :)

Alright, I have finished another song for the mod, and wow, I feel very... evolved since I first started making music for the mod. Before, I was making melodies based on two chords, knew next to nothing about mixing, and just really experimented, toying around with noise, trying to create my own style. Well, I believe I can safely say I've come that far.

I've never made something like this before. I'm never recorded my electric guitar into a song, and I've never really let my hair down like I did on this track. Enjoy the heavily blues-influenced tear-jerker, Between You & Me. Because sometimes the Betweenlands gets lonely :(

If there's one thing I want in this mod, it's a campfire, so the team members and I can dance around the fire in-game while listening to this.

posted a message on Daft Punk's new album 'Random Access Memories' is streaming for free on iTunes right now.
I'm listening now, and I'm only on the third song 'Giorgio by Moroder', and I absolutely LOVE THIS ALBUM. Of course, we all know the first single 'Get Lucky' but now we get to finally hear the album in full. It's been about 8 years since a proper studio album by Daft Punk, so I personally was very excited for this. And... it has completely lived up to my expectations so far.

So all you need to go out and listen to this now! Tell me what you think! :D

posted a message on Can someone help me "Get" Daft Punk?
It's funny you should mention this, because I actually read something on Reddit yesterday about how Daft Punk's music has such a large fanbase. Here's somethings people said about them:

while it seems that it's the same thing over and over, under the surface the "loop" is changing every 16-32 beats (especially their stuff from Homework). Their repetition is never straight repetition. I don't know of any musical act that utilizes layers better than them.

In my opinion, the best song of their's that shows this off is 'Around The World'. It starts off as just an intro bassline (That shows up later on), before switching to the main bassline. The songs builds up and takes away ever so often, meaning it doesn't change very much, but it changes enough so that it's not too repetitive, essentially reaching a perfect middle point.

There's constantly a flux, a changing flow, but it's so minimal you don't notice it unless you try.
They really are masters at what they do, which is why, after nearly a decade of having done nothing but a single tour, they were still sitting in the top 3~5 places in annual DJ lists.
One can only imagine how quickly they will be #1 on the lists this year.

They make music that is simple, and remains familiar to the listener throughout the song. The songs don't try to do anything too experimental, and most are extremely simple. For example, 'One More Time' is essentially a few loops with words, yet it went on to become a club staple. Mainstream music is usually quite simple. For example, take the band Queens Of The Stone Age. They often play in odd signatures, using notes that are out of key, and write rather complex arrangements. They aren't really mainstream (Although they have a large fanbase).
Now, compare that to Daft Punk, who follow familiar, popular chord progressions, and base their music on simplicity.

Daft Punk use interesting melodies, (relatively) complex arrangements and have a habit of self-referencing their previous work in a complimentary way that many fans enjoy (sort of like musical easter eggs).
At the end of the day though, they make music that people like to dance to, which almost requires a certain degree of repetition/loops. A person who goes to concerts specifically to dance typically doesn't have a great depth of musical knowledge, and mostly just wants a steady beat to grind to.
That being said, songs like Around the World take that little bit of repetition necessary to provide dance-able music and go way overboard. Like all artists, Daft Punk has its weak tracks. Fans still love these tracks, as they all have their sparkles of genius, but all but the most fervent fans have to admit that the songs are at the very bottom of the list when it comes to Daft Punk.

    This quote explains itself.

To be honest, in the end, if you don't like them, you don't like them. Maybe it'll just take time for you to like them. I couldn't get into Radiohead for the longest time beyond 'Creep' and 'Karma Police' for the longest time, but now I love them.

To be honest, the Oculus Rift doesn't excite me very much. It seems like a gimmick, at most. Don't get me wrong, it's a neat idea... I just can't see it being widely used.

This is a collection of music videos from 'The Broken' EP, by Nine Inch Nails. It's extremely distrubing, and definitely NFSW. I haven't watched it fully (I can't bring myself to), but I AM WARNING YOU! Only watch if you're willing to see extremely graphic content/hear explicit language.
