HD 7930?! Doesn't even exist. It's a HD 7870 Tahiti LE, right? Do you mind in posting a pic?
Yeah its a 7870 XT/Tahiti card but everyone knows its misnamed because its just a slightly gimped 7950. After overclocking, it's on par or slightly faster than the 7950. I dont have pics but it's this card- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131484
I dont think MC servers are multithreaded so its going to have rather poor performance. The C2D is going to blow the Bay Trail out of the water in single threaded apps. Chunk generation on a new world is going to be very slow, but after that it might still be serviceable with only 5 people. I used to host that many on a P4 back in the Beta days.
I have a mac, and I want to play a windows game (A game called SMITE, which you probably don't know). The game is only available in mac, so I got VirtualBox. When I downloaded SMITE, it says the that your video card must support shader model 3 to install the game... so i can't play.
My Mac's graphics card supports Shader Model 3, but since I'm using VirtualBox, it thinks I'm using a whole different computer.
Halp! How do I use my Mac graphics card for VirtualBox? Is there a SPECIFIC .iso windows image I have to install?
VirtualBox normally doesnt support hardware accelerated graphics (at least without installing Guest Additions) in other words, VB doesnt have full access to your hardware to play games. In order to play windows games on your Mac you'll need Parallels or something similar.
Is sony vegas good? Could I still make some decent edits in it?
Vegas Pro is used by professionals all the time. Movie Studio takes out a lot the professional features and markets more towards amatuer producers / consumers. So you'd have to check the feature list to make sure it has everything you need, or use the trial.
I only use Photoshop and rendering long GIFs out took all of my 8GB for that alone. I had to buy 8 more I wouldnt be suprised at AE taking just as much. Adobe isnt exactly known for efficiency.
This error currently only affects all versions past 1.7.4 - and will likely affect all future versions of Minecraft.
As such, you may work around this error by using a version prior to 1.7.4, such as 1.7.2. To play 1.7.4 or later versions, you will need a new computer. Alternatively for desktop users, you can buy a new GPU, but the fact that your computer has an Intel 965 Chipset means that your computer is likely to be very old, and a new computer may be a better way to go.
Just use a version of MineCraft below 1.7.4.
There is actually a patch out there for this problem. I cant find the website, but someone made a patch that bypasses the OpenGL problem introduced in 1.7.4 that had issues with Intel Mobile 4 Series chipsets. Ah, actually it looks like the patch used to be on hopper but was taken down. OP might have some luck installing one of the newer custom drivers from here though http://www.eightforums.com/graphic-cards/4418-mobile-intel-series-4-intel-hd-graphics-1st-generation.html
Rooting allows you to do some very cool things, like using Xposed Framework. But most of the stuff you needed Cydia to do on iOS can be done on Android without rooting. As for the chances of bricking, well usually not that high as long as you follow the correct directions for your firmware and model. Most of the time if something goes wrong rooting, the root simply fails rather than bricks anything.
The most useful root apps I have are AdBlock, Xposed Framework, Titanium Backup, SixAxis, and BatteryMonitorWidget.
Of course, rooting also allows you to go beyond just using root apps. It opens up the whole world of custom firmware/kernel flashing. For example, I'm running 4.4 Kitkat on a 2.5 year old phone whose last official update was 4.2 a year and a half ago, overclocked to 1.7 Ghz with various other performance tweaks that make it still very serviceable.
Alright, like virtual reality, you know how with the oculus rift it immerses you in games, well, something like that, but will display anything on you're computer screen
There are applications for Google Cardboard that do this and I imagine theres something similar for Oculus. For example there's an app that will simulate a 70ft movie theater screen for watching videos on and you actually have to turn your head to see it all. But I don't know why you would want to simulate a computer monitor. Current VR device resolution is too low to read text very well without eyestrain. It works better for fluid motion content.
alright thanks guys, ill think about it for awhile and see what i gotta do and for my power supply... ehh do i have to go inside the computer tower to see if its 6-pin or is it just the power cord that plugs into the surge protector? and my budget... i would prefer to not have to spend over $200 but if i absolutely have to i can spend more.
Yes, you'll have to open it up and see the wattage of the PSU and if it has a 6-pin connector. It looks like this http://cdn.erodov.net/portal//reviews/guide/pci-e-connector/pci-e-power-connector-2.jpg and it plugs into your graphics card, but not usually on the Geforce 8400GS which I dont think any models of which needed one, so it should just be hanging loose in the case. If you dont have one, you can still run more efficient card like the Geforce 750Ti.
