Quote from Ri5uxHey Mojang, I know you couldn't care less, but you just lost a user.
You quitting Minecraft over this? That's stupid, just don't play Realms then.

Quote from Mix_GodOK guys, I only read 2 pages. 1 and 76. What happened is that minecraft was running fine until one of mojangs employees child's mc account got hacked. It was a donor on servers. In result, mojang called a meeting, and voted to end donations. Realms could just be coincidence. I think they launched realms which you couldnt add any plugins too so there could be no donations, and mojang may just make people pay for entry fees. Even though my server is home hosted, id one day like to raise money to get it hosted, or otherwise buy my own server tower to host it. Ill admit ive donated on some servers, but because i wanted to have some extra stuff, not because of the good of my heart, or because of me liking the server, or even me liking the cosmetic crap. I like to donate so that i get more stuff. Most of the servers ive played on have hackers. They should take care of the hackers first.

I really wish people would actually evaluate the result of Mojang's actions rather then blindly siding with Mojang. I asked a question openly, to multiple people and the best I got was, "We'll still be allowed to play Minecraft." This is just ridiculous. Why do you agree with Mojang's decision if you cannot even give me a reason why it will benefit the community?
I stand by one of my earlier statements in that those that are against pay for perk features are jealous of those that were able to pay for such features, because all I hear is complaints against said feature without any actual good reasons as to why. It's a crude way to look at it, but honestly they dodge any direct request for a reason, so what else am I to think?
However, I can actually explain multiple reasons as to why it is BAD for the community. It could potentially (and according to one large server that has posted, may actually) cause people to lose their jobs (which could potentially make people/families homeless), it could inhibit the gameplay of such servers as they are forced to use alternative means for income beyond gameplay features. It actually directly stifles creation by limiting what you're allowed to make (no capes). It creates a bad impression that Mojang will take away from the community at any time for any reason without negotiation. I've got plenty of reasons its NOT good for the community. I cannot really find one reason its good.
One thing I'd like to keep mind for those that reply to me, I don't play on large servers. I design mod content and art. I'm the original creator of the Ender Storage mod, I occasionally twitch stream and I've been contributing my other ideas to various other mods over the years (be it art or gameplay concepts). I don't actually lose much myself by these restrictions, but I am still speaking against them. I also am acting and not just speaking by actually moving my content creation to a open source platform (http://minetest.net) which will give me the ability to make content and have rights over said content.

I'm pretty happy about these changes. Hosting a server isn't supposed to be something you should have to accept "donations" for. I've been running my own server for over 2 years now on a hosting site for a small community and I've never once asked for "donations" or even genuine donations, and I know that hosting a server that's not utter crap isn't exactly cheap. If it wasn't something I genuinely enjoyed, I wouldn't bother running a server. Because I enjoy it, I'm more than willing to put aside part of my paycheck to host my server. If more server owners went with that mentality, it'd be so much easier to find a good server.

P2W, go ahead, nuke them, but the fair servers will also implode. Which is a bad thing.

Those are purchases, not donations. When people donate they shouldn't expect anything in return other than a personal feeling of goodwill, they are giving money to someone or something from the kindness of their heart. Donations are not the only allowed source of income, servers can also offer purchases of cosmetic stuff, and put up a pay-once or subscription based model.Quote from JackM103All big servers are about to drop like hotcakes. They will not get any donates off of purely ascetic features. No one donates so that they are pretty. They donate for fun extra or helpful stuff.

I want Mojang to do this, maybe there will be some better servers coming out of this.

You just roll your eyes, thinking the owner is really desperate. But then you see 10 more,30 more,50 more saying the same thing.
Then you realize that there are way to many servers doing the same thing, drowning out servers who don't have to hawk in game items to stay afloat. Then you just give up disgust.
Yeah...

No one cares if you are moving somewhere else, please stop acting like we do.

But hey end of the world you know,"Onoez I cant haz my god toolz anymoe".
To those saying their leaving because of this, no one cares you will not be missed.
The game did fine without you, one less entitled person.

Your P2W so you really dont have a say.
P2W server owners shouldn't have a say in the matter, they were the ones who caused this mess. They drown out decent servers with their /vote nonsense, they heavily imbalance their servers in favor of the "donation" players.
I'll be glad to see you go.

The only decent one is MineZ imho.
