I've got this problem, as well.

Luckily, I backed up the world I've been working on for 6 months and was able to revert.

I *really* want to play with the new features. Hope this is fixed by the time the next snapshot comes out… or at least by the next official update. I'd *really* hate to have to start over. I've built an entire city complete with Testificates and everything.

    Here's the last crash report:

There's no legal issue here. You don't need Premium membership to enter. If you check the rules, they state clear as day that you can also enter by mail, no purchase required.

Ah! Good find. Thanks for pointing that out.

Um… you have to be a premium member to enter the giveaway.

Has Curse consulted their lawyers about this, because I'm fairly sure that requiring a purchase for a sweepstakes is against US law.

A "sweepstakes"is any procedure for distributing anything of value by lot or chance. A sweepstakes must not violate any provision of law, including the law that prohibits lotteries

In regards to sweepstakes, however, solicitation materials containing sweepstakes entry material or selling information regarding sweepstakes (hereafter "solicitation materials") must include a clear and conspicuous statement that no purchase or payment is necessary in order to enter the sweepstakes. This statement must be included in the solicitation materials in either the official rules or the entry form and must be in readily understandable terms. If the statement is included in the official rules, it must be set out in a separate paragraph and be printed in capital letters in contrasting type. The statement cannot be smaller than the largest type used in the official rules).

-I REALLY like the villages now, the way zombies probe for a way in is very cool. Not sure why they are breeding so slowly tho - 15 houses and many days later I still only have 8 or so.

Villagers spawn babies (what I'm now calling Testifikids) based on the number of wooden doors in an area and it's around one villager for every three doors (see: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Villager#Mating_and_Population).

I've taken to making somewhat useless doors (where they can't really be seen) in my new survival world where I'm attempting to create a massive, thriving city from the ground up.

Well, I was hoping to do it all in survival mode, but I'm also being kind of picky about the location of the village.

So, I think what I'm gonna do is find a nice spot in creative, create a little village, then export that to a survival map.

Thanks for all your help, folks! :smile.gif:

The way the villagers work is not by there city.

From what i know... they go by how many doors there are that are connected to 4 2high walls
and it 2 Npc per door

So 1 house with one door = 2 Npc

1 house 2 doors (back and front) = 4 Npc

    and so on

SOO to answer your question you can make them how ever big you want and anywhere [Even under water... i did :biggrin.gif:]

But there needs to be a pre-existing village to start with, no?

Or is there a way to just start building little huts, and villagers will spawn?

So… anyone know a good seed that has a village not in the desert and near an ocean? :smile.gif:

That's awesome! You should definitely share the results.

I'm running 12w08a and according to the wiki, NPC Villagers will now breed if you keep building new homes for them.

That gave me an idea to try to create a massive city (complete with my own personal tower to rule over the Testificates! MWAHAHAHAHA).

Has anyone else tried this? Is there an upper limit to how many villagers there can be, and (more importantly) will they only spawn within a certain range of the original village?

My end goal would be to create something like Highborn of Oceansend from Thieves and Kings comics (for anyone who's familiar… which is probably no one but here's some info on that: http://www.iboxpublishing.com/The_City.htm).
