So basically, play with no redstone or bed?

Redstone is fine but not for use in auto harvesters or in mob/exp machines.

Beds are optional but I decline their use personally.

Play on hardcore, make no world backups... if you die so does the world.

Sorry for the extreme delay in posting. Life has a funny way of keeping you from Minecraft sometimes.

    So here we go again...

Note this world was pre release

I didn't know that cows were swamp creatures but I won't complain too much

Perhaps they are an offshoot of this desert breed

I put up some defensive walls by sundown... won't keep out spiders but it'll keep the attacks to a minimum

    I prepare some swamp soup

then start glassing the place in... I'm tired of having to look out the holes in my door to tell if its light out

it also lets me see when I have company

squids are everywhere but I leave them be this time

It seems my wall for the tree farm is not high enough

and my back yard needs some light

I decide to mine... I do so too greedily and too deep

I think my headgear saved me... which is odd since it is leather

I strike diamond early... too early in fact... I have no iron

I also have placed my workstation too close to lava

apparently RC2 allows leaves to grow through cobblestone

after minimal time I have already constructed my nether portal

they all seem to lead dangerously close to lava flows these days

I kill this ghast with my sword

then start searching for some ruins

I get caught on fire due to a ghast attack

kill some zombie pigmen out of boredom

then finding no ruins head back to my mines for more supplies

now I have some diamond it's time for more iron

why I didn't realize that dropping gravel while holding shift would cause me to fall with the gravel I don't know... probably lack of sleep

    so much for that run

    oh well

if I do that I can only have 20 choices. i have way more than that. :S

You could arrange it in tiers and have a voting time limit on each tier. Tournament style.

I'm not sure if I can start a poll on an already existing topic. If anyone has ideas on how to do this that would be awesome. I'd totally be in favor of taking a poll, but with a constantly expanding list like this I would need to keep adding new ones on. I seem to have most of the popular ones at this point though...

Make it an official challenge like others have! Make a backstory, make some more rules, make some achievements, etc. Once you have that I'll be glad to put it in here! (Get a good name for it! :biggrin.gif:)

I know there is a way to start a poll after the topic is in effect. I did it once... I think you have to click Edit on the original post which gives you options to edit the thread title/subtitle etc.

Sorry about your setbacks Valdark, but I am also back to square one. Since "misery loves company" maybe this will make you feel a bit better?

I plan to concede defeat and restart. For some reason my world is not generating any structures. Without a Nether fortress there are no blazes. With no blaze powder from blazes there can be no Eyes of Ender made, and no travel to the End. This might have something to do with updating the jar file (only) on a previously made world. Another oddity is that the 3-second mining time for obsidian is not present in a new world made in RC2.

I did check out the level.dat file with NBTedit, and the "Generate Structures" bit is set as it should be, and I did double check how the bit is used by making new worlds.

That is odd indeed. Perhaps you used a name you have used for another world? I have seen it where a world does not delete completely from the hard drive and will actually load chunks from the old world.

Whatever the case it is a major setback.

As far as your last run... I know the feeling... I have occasionally died due to being unattached to the world... not intentionally mind you, but when I don't feel inspired I tend to be even more reckless than usual.

Of course it did! It's a great challenge, and I hear a lot of people enjoy it. I see no reason why it shouldn't be there!

As a creator, if you know any other good ones, maybe that inspired you or you enjoyed playing - let me know!

you have them up already but if I see any new ones I will be sure to link them here.

Still raging at myself for such a stupid mistake so far into my last run I begin again

I get a view of the beach

    the seed

it turns out to be a small island but there are pigs.. I leave them with hopes of growing enough wheat to breed the island into a bacon farm

I chop an exorbitant amount of grass for these measly seeds

I'll leave the mushroom to grow, unless I get some bonemeal.

turns out there are two red mushrooms so I pick one... then consider killing the chickens.... small islands keep me from inciting my normal bloodlust.

as night falls I notice a patch of coal in the islands only cave

but it's a trap! I get hit from behind by a skeleton who knocks me down several block then follows... I have neglected to make any weapons so I fight him with my torch.

but alas my injuries are too great and I fall beneath his hail of arrows.

Valdark I was reminded of Custer's last stand. The savages won.

It was definitely comparable. I lost a total of 1/2 a heart while fighting around 6 of them. I was dodging a bit but not blocking or being terribly worried about getting hit.

I was wearing 4 pieces of magic iron armor and had a magical diamond sword... and I lost to a cliff. Mother nature sure is a 8!+(#.

    Last installment of the day

I decide that before I go blaze hunting I'll make myself some potions of fire resistance

    and upgrade to enchanted boots

the blazes are pushovers with the fire resistance going and a full set of magic armor so I quickly collect my blaze rods then stop on the way out for some glowstone

my helm is nearly spent so I enchant another... not sure what this one does

then in preparation of fighting an ender dragon I make some splash potions of instant damage and restock on arrows.

I get bored waiting for nightfall so I return to the nether and provoke a hoard of zombie pigmen... I am making pretty short work of them as they pile up. However I make one fatal mistake and get to close to an edge.. one of them hits me and down I fall...... that's what I get for being cocky

and now for a second installment today

I guess the endermen heard my complaint because they have returned

    and they are paying out

My helmet gives out so I enchant another

then brew some potions to help in emergency situations

and some to help me high tail it to the last place I spent an eye of ender

along the way I encounter a few more endermen

however this group does not pay out like the last

the eyes lead me to a small depression in the ground where I begin a spiral staircase... it leads to this ravine

remembering my last experience with caves near the stronghold I ignore the ravine and continue strait down

I find a free pear in one of the stronghold chests

set off a creeper or two

avoid a few falls into lava by less margin than I'd like

and I've found my portal... it is devoid of free eyes however

so I head home.. I only have 4 blaze powder and no ender pearls or eyes after placing my two remaining eyes in the portal... that means I'll need 10 more pearls and 3 more blaze rods to complete my trip to the end

I find my marker while heading back... somehow I missed it on the way in

the way back is wrought with creepers

but by early morning I am home

where I enchant some more armor to replace what I have lost

and prepare for a run to the nether for blaze rods and maybe some glowstone
