I can imagine that some people will try and gather as many resources as possible, and then leave the game with the resources in their inventory so that the said resources "disappear" from the map completely. If this happens often, the resources are most likely going to decrease after a while.
Wouldn't it be possible to make it so that you drop _all_ of your resources when you disconnect from the server?

Unfortunately not, but if you use IRC we might be able to work something out.
Sep 9, 2009Sorry for not replying sooner; I rarely browse this section of the forums.Posted in: Alpha - Minecraft Servers
I have no idea why you've been IP-banned, and I'll of course unban you. Although, I'm not sure how I'm gonna figure out what IP you have just by looking at the ipbanlist. Does anyone have a solution for this?

According to my logs, they never said that.
I have full confidence in my OP's, but I've told them that they should pay more attention to the chat in the future.
Aug 27, 2009I was thinking about this and came up with a (in my opinion) decent idea.Posted in: Suggestions
As you might've seen this far, different blocks take different amounts of time to mine. Leaves are fast, and coal (I think) takes a long time to gather.
Now, I love this system. But it would be awesome if it could be improved even further. How about an option in your server.properties-document that lets you modify the gathering time yourself? An example
The numbers represent the amount of seconds required to gather the said block. Setting a value to "0" will make the gathering of that block instant.
Jul 31, 2009Posted in: DiscussionQuote from PuyoDead »Asking for a warning is understandable, but you should also understand that griefers can destroy great amounts of things in a small amount of time. Due to that, most server admins will outright ban at the first sign of it. Any hesitation will mean even more damage. If you fall into a hole, respawn back out. Digging your way back out is a fine way to flood other people's things, and generally create pointless holes in the map.
Also, the swastika thing really should be common sense. It's a swastika, and to make it worse, your name is NaziKitten. Granted, just building one should result in a "hey, don't do that", or kick. But again, this game is full of griefers, and any sign of them is most likely going to result in a ban. Knee jerk reaction? Yes, but the more you play this, the more you see it's actually necessary.
Next time, check if the server has an appeals email or something similar. If not, simply ask here who runs it, or go ahead and ask to be unbanned and state your reason.
Thanks, I couldn't have said it better myself.
Jul 31, 2009Posted in: DiscussionQuote from NaziKitten »Well, when I first played the game, all the servers I joined had swastikas everywhere. Also, the admins never make their presence aware, they just ban me immediately. What's wrong with kick? They're stunting the growth of the community by permabanning people who may have been good players. Ask yourself, gentleman, who is the real Nazi here? And who is the real kitten?
Then you should stick to those servers. I would personally ban anyone who were making swastikas on my own server. Why? Because it's usually no idea trying to talk to them about it. It's not like one is making those swastikas "just to be creative". Even if I'm wrong, that's how I feel. Every server has it's own rules.
Jul 31, 2009Posted in: DiscussionIt's the internet. I see penises created all the time, and the admins never do anything about that.
Then you should talk to the admins of the server in question and ask them if it's allowed to create swastikas. It's not a universal rule that swastikas are disallowed, but I guess it's very common to get banned for making those on most servers.
Jul 31, 2009Posted in: DiscussionQuote from NaziKitten »Quote from underd0g »"Seriously, how about you tell me you don't like swastikas before permabanning me?"
Stopped reading right there. I don't see the problem in banning you in this case, to be honest. I wouldn't hesitate if I saw you making swastikas.
Hurrrrrr, let's not read the rest of the post. Let's just read the first two sentences and assume we know what the rest is gonna say.
After doing a forum search, I found out swastikas are supposed to be a signature that a lot of griefers used. Alright, fair enough. Still, how is a new player supposed to know this? Can an admin just tell me not to do it? I even fell in a hole one time, one of those that go straight down, and started tunneling my way out. BAM, banned.
Wow, I guess you really got me there!
It doesn't matter if griefers use it or not, people might get offended - regardless of your intentions. If you keep getting thrown out just create your own server instead where you can make as many swastikas as you'd like.
