I would like to see a block that can use the physics and be implemented in mechanisms. Possibly a balloon, though it would have to be able to have a redstone wire on it. or sicks, not as an item, but as a rod that can be placed.
I like the idea of being able to find dungeons. Another use could be another type of projectile, perhaps a sticky trap of some sort, to hold mobs in place.
Same thing here. Also, after trying to copy paste the world into the new server, huge areas got newly generated, destroying half my town. Very frustrating. Not to mention that smp is even less playable than ever, mostly thanks to boats. Having ungenerated chunks not line up has always been a problem for updates, not just the Halloween one, and not even just smp, ssp also suffers. However this is the first time that my town has been wrecked despite most certainly being made of old chunks.
And yet I can't play on the older version of smp, despite that the newer one is a complete mess.
I dont think we are going to see one before beta. Until then I recommend you get MCedit, which you can find on the wiki, and manually construct your terrain if you want to.
It is caused by updating the game. Instead of generating new chunks that are smooth with the existing terrain, it just kind of starts over, making that noticeable divide between new and old.
Just use the search to find other threads of the same issue, all this has been mentioned before.
@Mrbaggins
Yes, decay again please. 2 of my maps are heavily forested, and if were to use fire, half the map would burn to the ground. Even with decay, some leaves always manage to stay so some clearing is required.
Has anyone tested the portals yet?
Here is what the update was trying to fix:
* Why should I explore?
* How do I get to cool, far away places, once I have found them?
He addressed them by adding an alternate dimension with challenging play mechanics that allows you to travel at 8 times the normal rate. What many people hoped was that this update would produce parity to between the single player and multiplayer versions of the game. In reality he only promised a few fixes for multiplayer and we did get those.
The portals are still broken, and fast travel is less than ideal at this point. Like many others, I do believe that Notch needs to focus on SMP (Notch HAS stated that he does need to focus there) as that is were he is going to draw an additional audience. The SMP "fixes" were to a few details that didn't solve any major problems, instead, I logged on to my server and promptly got stuck in the "skylimit". He is on the right track now at least, and if he is able to implement the betwixt server portal mechanism that he has stated, that alone is almost a game changer.
Edit: Secret Friday Update!
"This is a bugfixes only update:
* Signs on the sides of cacti no longer crash the game
* The player won’t get stuck on the top of the world in multiplayer
* Reverted mob spawning back to the old code, it was far to annoying. I have plans on what to do with this.
* Fixed the leaf particle colors
* Reduced CPU usage for monster spawning, but there’s still a lot of work to be done to reduce lag on SMP servers.
* Attempted to fix the portal dupe bug where you could exit through a different (new) one than the one you entered through."
Pasted straight from the blog.
My thing is that I make a big distinction between defending my base combat, and the exploratory or traveling combat. As the game is in its current form, to succeed at fighting requires a lot of preparation in order to fight safely. Due to this, the true exploration, not base expansion, is very unrewarding. After the halloween update, I have had to make a tunnel for the 70 block run to my base, otherwise I wont survive a resapwn. That seems like a problem. As is, something about the combat should change. As exemplified in this forum, it should be done very carefully; otherwise it could tip the focus of the game toward an unintended route.
If I would chose one addition, it would be an item shield that would block some arrows when being held.
If I could change any one thing, it would be a small slowdown of creep walking speed, as fleeing is almost never successful do to one of any other mob interfering with my panicked sprint toward one of my fire lines.
yeah, he was trying to get a portal, and now has like 5. In addition I finally was able finish my house, and then duplicate it into the nether. It is now a force of will to just refrain from cheating.
dude bump. My friend is a little nooblet and wants to go to the nexus, so im trying to find a good save for him. Also what software is recommended for this, MCEdit looks good. Is any even required or do we just put the files in a folder to be loaded?
it is a good idea, just seems like it would be for a later date.
As of now, Notch has got to get around to having held torches give off light.
You would need to figure out how to easily load it, as it's a piece of armor, and would have to unequipped, placed on the ground, and then interacted with, as the current game functions.
