Editions
Even Older Versions
Even older versions of OptiFine are available in the OptiFine history.
If you have previously used MCPatcher for HD Textures, HD Fonts or Better Grass (important)
Follow these steps to prevent a possible "Black Screen" problem when installing OptiFine:
1. Temporarily revert back to the Default Texture Pack.
2. Uninstall the HD Textures, HD Fonts, and Better Grass mods from the MCPatcher. These functions are included in OptiFine.
3. Set Graphics to Fancy
4. Install OptiFine and test with the Default Texture Pack to make sure everything is working.
5. Select your previous texture pack and graphics settings
6. Run Minecraft and enjoy
Compatibility with other mods
When installing OptiFine together with other mods always make sure to install OptiFine last. The only exception are mods which are designed to be installed after OptiFine and say so in their install instructions.
If you need ModLoader: Install OptiFine AFTER ModLoader.
If you need Forge: Install OptiFine AFTER Forge.
MCPatcher is NOT needed for HD textures, HD fonts and BetterGrass, they are included in OptiFine. Install OptiFine without MCPatcher's HD features for best performance.
If you need DynamicLights (ModLoader edition): Install OptiFine AFTER DynamicLights.
Compatible with: ModLoader, Forge, SinglePlayerCommands, TooManyItems, PlasticCraft, CJB's Modpack, Zan's Minimap, Rei's Minimap, DynamicLights, GLSL Shaders 2, LittleBlocks and many other.
Not compatible with: CCTV, The Aether.

Thank you for all the years of player involvement and downloading my maps. Diversity is the second most viewed map on this forum and Diversity 2 is the 4th most viewed map here. It's been a pleasure entertaining you. This forum is ending but I am not.
There is no need to respond to this thread any longer. Please visit one of the links above for any help. Cheers!
Compatible with 1.7.4 only!
I will not be updating this map into versions newer than 1.7.4. Certain parts will be broken in other versions of Minecraft. Please load the 1.7.4 version of Minecraft through the launcher.
Is the map file missing from your saves when loading Minecraft?
Please follow the install directions. I have had countless reports on this and it is simply caused by people ignoring my directions. DO NOT place the entire folder into your saves or the map won't show up in Minecraft!! ONLY place the folder labeled "Diversity (v1.3.4)"!
Enjoy the map? Try the sequel!:
https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding-java-edition/maps/2200445
Description:
Diversity is a unique take on the CTM genre. As usual, you have to complete the monument by collecting the coloured wool. However in Diversity, each wool is obtained by finishing a completely different Minecraft map genre.
Rules:
In an effort to weed out any forms of cheating, since I can't change the Minecraft code, please understand...
1. No breaking, placing or crafting ANY items unless instructed or implied.
2. No changing gamemodes or difficulty, for ANY reason whatsoever.
3. ABSOLUTELY no typing commands like TP, give, spawnpoint, etc. (ESPECIALLY for Multiplayer!)
When you cheat, we all lose
4. For Single Player, start on Easy. Avoid viewing the Options Screen if possible.
Recommendations:
- Resource Pack: Default
- Brightness: High
- Clouds: Off
- Render Distance: 16 Chunks
Single Player:
There is a Minecraft bug on single player that viewing the options screen will overwrite the command block difficulty. For this reason, I suggest you starting your game with Easy.
Multiplayer:
If you want to play Diversity as multiplayer, I recommend 2 players. 3 maximum.
This map is NOT compatible with Bukkit.
Diversity Genres:
Adventure
Arena
Trivia
Parkour
Escape
Labyrinthian
Dropper
Survival
Puzzle
Boss Battle
Additional Notes:
This is my second Minecraft map and MUCH more ambitious than my first. This took me about 2 months to construct.
Diversity is possibly the first Minecraft map built around the purpose of completing multiple genres. Diversity must be played in Minecraft 1.7.4.
It's not required, but for those who have played my first map, Complex, there is something special for you.

SycloneSJS posted a message on 128x64 CHROMA HILLS RPG/Cartoon ish**1.14v2 update LIVE + Shader add on pack 09/09/2019!Posted in: Resource Packs
Hi all, I'm a 40 (something) yr old artist/designer from the UK I've been working on Chroma Hills since Sept 2012. This project has been a real labor of love and a passion to create my vision of Minecraft. It's been a massive commitment to work at this detail level and with the continuing updates from Mojang. I'm overwhelmed at how many people now use it and look forward to the updates.
Chroma Hills is the official pack of Sonic Ethers Unbelievable Shaders SEUS support with many additional textures to create bump mapping and specular effects.
The pack also features 2000+ additional textures that are supported by MCpatcher and Optifine mods.
Connected textures, random mobs, custom skies supported.

SEUS Renewed screenshots!
SEUS Renewed is an on-going project! Feel free to report any issues you encounter.
Setup (PLEASE READ)
OptiFine has taken over shader support for Minecraft. Go download and install OptiFine first! ALWAYS USE THE LATEST VERSION
You need to install this mod to use my shaderpack!
Download OptiFine
Once you've got OptiFine installed, to use a shaderpack, follow these instructions.
1. Navigate to your .minecraft folder (google is your friend if you don't know how to do this).2. Create a new folder called shaderpacks (without capital letters) if it isn't already there.3. Go download my shaderpack "Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders" from below and place the shaderpack in this directory.4. Valid shaderpacks include .fsh and .vsh files that the Shaders Mod reads to tell your GPU what to do during runtime. These files must be in a folder named shaders within any shaderpack. Shaderpacks may only be uncompressed folders or .zip files.
The following is an example of the file layout possibilities for the shaderpack Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders v10.1 Ultra.minecraft/shaderpacks/SEUS Renewed 1.0.0/shaders/[.fsh and .vsh shader files here]or.minecraft/shaderpacks/SEUS Renewed 1.0.0.zip/shaders/[.fsh and .vsh shader files here]
If this layout is not respected, your installed shaderpacks will not work. This is the first thing youshould check if your game looks like vanilla Minecraft.
5. In Minecraft, go to Options > Video Settings > Shaders. Here you will see a list of your currently installed shaderpacks. Select a shaderpack by clicking on it.
6. In Options > Video Settings > Shaders, make sure that "Old Lighting" is set to Default!
7. Click Shader Options in the bottom right corner of the Shaders selection screen (for v11.0 and Renewed) to setup SEUS-specific options. Here you can choose from Low, Medium, High, Ultra, and Extreme profiles, as well as tweak any individual option to suit your needs!

Once the mod is properly installed, there are a few things you can do to ensure maximum performance.
-Run the game in a smaller resolution in full-screen
-Lower your render distance
-When OptiFine is installed, try toggling "Options > Video Settings > Performance > Smooth FPS:". "ON" gives more responsive input and more steady fps, but likely lower maximum FPS.

Documentation for old (pre-1.8) TMI
Better documentation for 1.8+ will be up shortly.
Turn On/Off: Press the "o" key while in the inventory screen. You can change this key by editing the configuration file.
Add items: Left-click on items in the right sidebar to add full stacks, or right-click to add one at a time.
Configuration file: Find the directory in which your minecraft saves folder and options.txt are, and once you have used TMI at least once you will also find TooManyItems.txt there. This contains options that you can change, not all of which are documented yet.
Spawners: In some previous versions, to create different kinds of spawners, edit the "spawner" line in the configuration file. Use at your own risk; in some (older) versions of Minecraft, spawners of non-mob entities such as boats can crash the game and wreck your save.
Unlimited stacks/tools (single-player only): Shift-left-click on items in the right sidebar to add unlimited stacks OR unlimited-use tools or flint and steel. ModLoader is required for "true" unlimited stacks. Without ModLoader the quantity of >64 stacks will refresh when you open your inventory.
Tabs: Use the chest, star, and book icons to change between the item, favorites, and enchant tabs.
Favorites: This allows you to save commonly used items. ADD to the favorites panel by: (1) clicking an item on the favorites panel, (2) alt-clicking an item in the items panel, or (3) clicking the Favorite button in the enchant panel. REMOVE an item from the favorites panel by alt-clicking it.
Enchanting: (in SP, or may work on some Bukkit servers) Click an item on the enchanting panel to switch to that type of item. Use the + and - buttons to change the levels of individual enchantments. Click the Create button to make the enchanted item once, or the Favorite button to add it to the favorites panel.
Trash (single-player only): Drop an item stack on the item sidebar or the trash icon to delete it. Click the trash icon to turn "delete mode" on and off (in "delete mode" you will delete any item you click on -- useful for selectively deleting a lot of items). Shift-click thee trash icon to wipe out your inventory.
Game mode: Click the "S", "C", and "A" icons on the toolbar for survival, creative, and adventure mode, respectively.
Time: Click the sun and moon icons to set the time to sunrise, noon, sunset, or midnight.
Difficulty: Click the creeper icon to toggle the difficulty without having to go into game preferences.
Health/hunger: Click the heart icon to set health and hunger to max.
Save states (single-player only): Several slots are available for you to save your entire inventory and restore it later. (The "x" button next to a saved state will remove it.) This can be used to save your "real" inventory before editing, save a blank inventory to clear out everything you're holding, save a full inventory of materials, share inventories between characters, etc.
Multiplayer: You need to be a server op. Also, every non-vanilla server works a little differently. The command issued to the server to give you items is configured in TooManyItems.txt as "give-command". In this command, you should put {0} for the player's username, {1} for the item ID, {2} for the quantity, and {3} for the damage value. If {3} isn't in the command, items with damage values other than 0 won't show up.
Vanilla server command: /give {0} {1} {2} {3}
* Since the vanilla server used to not support item damage with the give command, TMI may still have /give {0} {1} {2} by default. You can now add {3} to the end. The default will be updated in a future TMI version.
Bukkit with the Essentials mod command: /item {1}:{3} {2}
Fast crafting: Right-click on the output square when crafting to craft the maximum possible amount. (Works while the inventory overlay is disabled).
Troubleshooting
Crashes show an error report on a purple and white screen, and you can copy and paste the report into a post. With the latest version of TMI, most errors that would have crashed should instead show a chat message that says a report has been saved to a file in your minecraft folder, and you can copy and paste from that file into a post.
Black screens are caused primarily by: not deleting META-INF from your minecraft.jar, mod conflicts, wrong versions of mods, and improperly installing mods. Please check these things and, if necessary, start fresh from a new minecraft.jar as an old installation problem may still be causing errors.
"TMI doesn't show up": Press the "o" key in your inventory screen to turn TMI on and off. (Unless you have already changed this in your config file.) Your preference about whether TMI should be displayed is separate in single- and multi-player. If this still doesn't work, you probably did not install TMI correctly.
Notes: TMI's code does not run until you open your inventory. Problems creating games are something else. TMI does not change any crafting recipes. You are not forced to use fast crafting: just left click like normal instead of right clicking. Yes, TMI does work in multiplayer, but read the instructions. No, it is not a server mod. Finally, the number of pages of items depends on your Minecraft window size, so, you are not missing items because it doesn't have the same pages as in the screenshot.
Uninstalling: If you manually installed a mod, the only way to uninstall is to either restore your backup copy of minecraft.jar (you did make a backup, right?) or delete minecraft.jar and run the game launcher so it downloads a new minecraft.jar. If you used a mod manager, refer to its instructions.

Forbiden1 posted a message on The Free Software List [updt: 04/11/2013.]
I've seen topics upon topics of free software, textures, models, etc. That everybody has tried here. I'm sure that pretty soon if you don't bookmark the link it becomes pretty difficult to find that program you like but was too busy (or lazy) at the moment to bookmark or download. So I would like to make a list of all the FREE SOFTWARE AND SITES useful for making MC videos. It can be audio it can be video compositing, model making, textures, whatever! But remember it has to be 100% FREE. So if you find something you think everybody here can use please post below and I would be delighted to post it up here on the first post! This is free software for the making of Minecraft Videos. So anybody who is interested in making a video can look in this list and maybe find something that can help them. Enjoy.
Please note as the list gets bigger it will be modified so remember what you see today doesn't mean it will be there tomorrow!
The links have been colored according to their classification so they can be easily identified!
If there is a program/site that has two or more classifications it will be posted under the Utilities section.
Programs are not guaranteed to work on your operating system although most of them should.
Mac compatible programs will be marked with a .
Linux compatible programs will be marked with a .
However check the program you are interested in anyway. Who knows? It might be Mac or Linux compatible by now!
If you see a program that is Mac or Linux compatible in this list please let me know.
Trials will not be accepted in this list. If you find one please notify me.
If it's not too much trouble. Please don't forget to vote in the poll above and click on the little green arrow button under my post!
This list is updated at least once a month.
Coming Soon:
3D Modeling/Animation Programs and Models
1. Google Sketchup
Google SketchUp is software that you can use to create 3D models of anything you like. You can build models from scratch, or you can download what you need. People all over the world share what they've made on the Google 3D Warehouse. It's a huge, searchable repository of models, and it's free.
2. Blender
Blender is a 3D graphics application released as free software under the GNU General Public License. It can be used for modeling, UV unwrapping, texturing, rigging, water simulations, skinning, animating, rendering, particle and other simulations, non-linear editing, compositing, and creating interactive 3D applications, including games. Blender is available for a number of operating systems, including Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows.
3. Organica 3D
This program takes the metaball concept, and applies it to blocks of different shapes. Its great for organic and natural shapes. I use it for caves and stone arches. No texturing here, so texture it elsewhere. It can save a mesh as 3ds, whick you can import into Sketchup or other.
4. Albatross
This is a nice modeler that does subdivision surfaces. Very much like Silo, but free. It has a lot of interesting modeling tools, and does texturing and animation (with bones) as well. This is what I apply textures in because Sketchup is not the greatest for that.
5. T2
This is the terrain modeler I usually use. It uses a grayscale image for a heightmap, but then applies textures based on things like elevation and angle. Can have as many different textures as you want. The texture and mesh can be exported at any resolution. Saves 3ds for Sketchup import. Hint. Always use the smooth command in Sketchup, and then omit back faces when you import into MW.
6. Genetica Viewer
Don't let the viewer name discourage you, this "viewer" creates all kinds of textures based on templates (has about 200 or something). The tiles it creates are seemless, and can be saved in several resolutions that are appropriate for MS.
7. Vue
For making fantastic virtual terrain using Vue Pioneer which is free to download and use.
8. 3Dvia Shape

10. ScapeMaker
ScapeMaker is a landscape creator. It's easy to use. There is one problem though, you can't export to a graphics file, you have to render the 3D pic and select fullscreen then use a screen capture prog to capture your landscape.
11. Celestia
Unlike most planetarium software, Celestia doesn't confine you to the surface of the Earth. You can travel throughout the solar system, to any of over 100,000 stars, or even beyond the galaxy. All movement in Celestia is seamless; the exponential zoom feature lets you explore space across a huge range of scales, from galaxy clusters down to spacecraft only a few meters across. A 'point-and-goto' interface makes it simple to navigate through the universe to the object you want to visit. Celestia is expandable. Celestia comes with a large catalog of stars, galaxies, planets, moons, asteroids, comets, and spacecraft. If that's not enough, you can download dozens of easy to install add-ons with more objects.

5. Ffmpegx
Transcoding on a Mac is a serious pain, especially since MS only supports very limited codecs and only the AVI container format. As of this post (Feb 22, 2010.), the only video format that MS is supposed to handle for adding video to prims is MP42 in an AVI container. This is what it generates when it renders it's own video.
There seems to be a bug in handling this on Mac platforms though because adding video to a prim doesn't always work. Download this tool to fix it. Instructions below:
The download instructions ask you to download mpeg2enc.intel and a tar file containing mplayer and mencoder. They fail to tell you to unzip the archive and select the unarchived binaries during the installation phase, so the steps are:
1) Download ffmgepX (IMG file) and mount it, drag it to the Applications folder.
