    If I remember correctly, Starmade does this for the different planet terrain types and it looks and works really nicely... I approve. +1.

    WHOA. That's really awesome... Particularly the fancy-schmancy birch wood door... But some of these are a year(+) too late...

    Yep. I'll repeat my suggestion again and ask for Minecraft block themed icons. (Iso, not side view as shown here)

    :grass: -> Hot/New Posts

    :soil: -> No New Posts

    :obsidian: -> Closed

    :arrow: -> Pinned/Sticky

    Nether Portal or possibly Minecart -> Moved

    Symbol w/ Sign item icon in front -> 'You posted here'

    posted a message on [Small Nitpick] Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube cubic icons look slightly silly
    Not sure if it's just me, but I find that the three 'cube' icons next to the search field look kind of silly; In my opinion, it would look better to use slightly more traditional Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube icons that are the same"Top-down cuboid" style as the green navigation bar.

    posted a message on Is Mojang getting lazy?
    Wow, so the new version finally gets a few really neat features... One is editable terrain gen, props to Mojang for that, for once, and the other isn't even made by Mojang... :\

    EDIT: After looking through some recent posts, I'm actually starting to become impressed by some of the changes being made behind the scenes... I just shifted from negative to neutral/positive-ish. However, I kinda would've liked to see these sorts of changes just after the game was released, then truckloads of awesome new content afterwards... (We apparently got the complete opposite)

    Lol, Before video: NONONONO MOJANG WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!!11!1... After video: Wow, this is awesome. You can now make hovering cylinders, spheres, etc. Too bad they can't collide. However, I can think of some neat uses for just the carts with levitating blocks...

    posted a message on Snapshot 14w04a Ready for Testing!
    I've said it once and I'll say it again: This is a testing snapshot, not a Seecret Friday Update. Don't implement "seecret" features if it's designed for us to test everything and find/eliminate bugs...

    posted a message on All automation is bad and you should feel bad for spending absolutely any time not mining in Minecraft, even for a few seconds
    Quote from SwaggyMarv

    To OP, I clap. Awesome job with this thread and explaining to people why automation is amazing.

    Now to my statement:

    There are two main kinds of Minecraft players: the old hipster alpha players and the new 1.5 redstoning guys. I'd classify myself as a redstoner, because that's what I love to do in this game, but it seems like Mojang is attempting to make those first people who bought the game happier for nostalgia reasons, when in reality, these are the same people holding the game back from its nearly endless potential. Automation is what makes Minecraft what it is for me. I understand that the game is a sandbox, but that's what does it for me. People don't have to build these epic farms and do these epic things to make themselves feel like they've accomplished something with more work. These people who say iron farms and gold farms are "cheaty" and shouldn't be in Minecraft are living in a cave hole, because what makes Minecraft the great game that it is: the sandbox aspect. And then when they see the great creations that us redstoning people make, they become snobby and whine about not doing things not being "legit", when in truth, the most popular and most raved about things in the Minecraft community require redstone and automation. Look at Docm77, look at Etho, look at the Zipkrowd crew, look at HermitCraft, and look at the countless other popular youtubers and youtube groups. Redstone is the new age of Minecraft now. Automation in general is the new age of Minecraft.

    So all of you hipster old alpha players need to understand that Minecraft has changed for the better. Go play beta 1.7.3 if you want to play legit or whatever. And Mojang, stop listening to these people who have no room for change. Redstone and Automation are the best things that ever happened to Minecraft, and breaking this amazing part ofm the game down to shambles slowly is terrible for not only 1.8, but the future of Minecraft.

    I'm out.

    I played since Indev, and I agree completely.

    Then how will people get cobblestone?

    By going to a biome that has normal stone... You read my post wrong. Though IMO you should be able to make stone tools from these types of stone as well...

    that is a good idea, i too was surprised to see it just randomly all over the place. pretty damn messy. But whatever. I am glad for some new building blocks.

    one more thing.... i dont ever, EVER use default textures because theyre ugly as hell, but the new stone bricks add a whole new dimension of ugly, they seem really rushed and honestly im quite surprised by just how badly done they look, im no artist but im almost positive i could do better!

    Heh, despite being The Aesthetics Guy normally, I don't mind the default textures... but the Diorite textures do look really bad... Waaay too much contrast and too much randomness in the noisemaps apparently used to make the bases for the textures. Non-smooth granite and andesite look terrible as well, though I don't mind the smooth versions.

    Oh, also. "Secret features?" This is a testing snapshot, for Notch's sake. Not a "seecret update." Hidden features kind of ruin the point. Complete changelogs please.

    Okay, new stone, nice... but why does it have to be in ugly splotches? Why can't the terrain generator randomly select a base material from the types of stone (per biome) and generate all of its stone in a biome as that material?

    posted a message on Saturday with Sach: Whats In a Name
    Tanu was the name of a LEGO Bionicle fan character I made up a long time ago. Toa was his title, and "species," in a way. (But not quite... BIONICLE lore is complicated.) I don't necessarily love the name, especially when people keep calling me "toat" or mistyping it as "toatuna," (for the record, the proper abbreviation is "Tanu.") but it's better than most things I could think of at the time. My "other" internet name, Ithirahad, was just a name I made up for fantasy games, but it ended up spilling over to pretty much every single primary MMO character, RP alias, or other similar thing.
