One does not simply walk into Moredoors.
...Anyway, these doors are great, particularly the birch and spruce ones.

Recalibrated the quantum flux regulator.
Yeah, they needed to do that. The flux capacitor was going to overload... Then we might've ended up with a temporal rupture. Not fun. -

You can now make hovering cylinders, spheres, etc. Too bad they can't collide. However, I can think of some neat uses for just the carts with levitating blocks...Posted in: News

By going to a biome that has normal stone... You read my post wrong. Though IMO you should be able to make stone tools from these types of stone as well... -

that is a good idea, i too was surprised to see it just randomly all over the place. pretty damn messy. But whatever. I am glad for some new building blocks.
one more thing.... i dont ever, EVER use default textures because theyre ugly as hell, but the new stone bricks add a whole new dimension of ugly, they seem really rushed and honestly im quite surprised by just how badly done they look, im no artist but im almost positive i could do better!
Heh, despite being The Aesthetics Guy normally, I don't mind the default textures... but the Diorite textures do look really bad... Waaay too much contrast and too much randomness in the noisemaps apparently used to make the bases for the textures. Non-smooth granite and andesite look terrible as well, though I don't mind the smooth versions.
Oh, also. "Secret features?" This is a testing snapshot, for Notch's sake. Not a "seecret update." Hidden features kind of ruin the point. Complete changelogs please. -
Jan 10, 2014toatanu posted a message on Snapshot 14w02a Ready For Testing! YAY!Okay, new stone, nice... but why does it have to be in ugly splotches? Why can't the terrain generator randomly select a base material from the types of stone (per biome) and generate all of its stone in a biome as that material?Posted in: News

Dec 16, 2013toatanu posted a message on Saturday with Sach: Whats In a NameTanu was the name of a LEGO Bionicle fan character I made up a long time ago. Toa was his title, and "species," in a way. (But not quite... BIONICLE lore is complicated.) I don't necessarily love the name, especially when people keep calling me "toat" or mistyping it as "toatuna," (for the record, the proper abbreviation is "Tanu.") but it's better than most things I could think of at the time. My "other" internet name, Ithirahad, was just a name I made up for fantasy games, but it ended up spilling over to pretty much every single primary MMO character, RP alias, or other similar thing.Posted in: News

Sep 6, 2013toatanu posted a message on 13w36a Snapshot Ready for Testing! This whole thing is just... awesome. They finally dealt with the ridiculous patch oceans, reintroduced gravel to the overworld surface, and added more good biomes. But I still feel that a few things are wrong...Posted in: News
-A unique Mob or two, at least for the Savanna, seems almost obligatory for an update like this.
-These maps need real continents, real islands, and real oceans. And no, they don't all need to be titanic continents or oceans, the shapes just need to be more realistic.
-Many, MANY less unusual-colored sheep... They're supposed to be more of an Easter egg, not a common mob, and the commonness of pink, dark gray, and black sheep kind of ruins their point.
-Less ugliness in terrain gen. Most of the screenshots I've seen were pretty, but pretty much ruined by some odd cave entrance, patch of stone or snow, or lavafall. All of those things need to become less common - discovering a cave entrance should be cool, not something that happens constantly, and cliffs should be unique and cool-looking, not weird ugly patches of gray mixed in with everything. And I'm still waiting for "real" Mountains...
-Remove the Junk and Treasure system. The new fish are a great idea, but Junk and Treasure are just silly... in a way that's detrimental to the game. -

They are not interesting.
Their improving mapmaking, but not survival! Weird!
1 guy made a giant mod in 48 hours. Yes, it added tons of content.
What these do in 2 months?
Nothing useful.
Dragons and pandas ARE confirmed future updates, but we will not get them
BIGGEST UPDATE AFTER ADVENTURE UPDATE?
Yeah, new particles and sunflowers!
Let's applause!
*FACEPALM* TERRAIN UPDATE. Extreme Hills updates, snow at mountain heights in cold Biomes, Redwood Forests and a rocky Biome, along with possibly randomized Biome characteristics and other things we know nothing about... New flowers are just a cute little touch... and I'm not opposed to them at all. It's not like they're going to be a full update. The Flower Update? lol. Also, The F3 HUD is there for debugging, and not part of the real game experience at all. -

i dont like the new lapus block, the old one was so nice! But the coloured clay is a good change from the overused wool blocks in pixel art
Yeah, the old one was a far better building material visually. I guess it's been demoted to the position of "sandstone building accent"/"blue tile floor material". -

First people say horses are too OP, so Mojang makes armor and saddle rare so that horses can't be easily obtained and now people say the nerf is pointless. Just can't win.
It's not the concept of nerfing that's bad, the nerf is simply in the wrong direction. We didn't want to make accessibility technically finite, we just wanted to make horses less cheap. Perhaps having to feed a horse lest it run away from you forever would be better than nerfing SADDLES. They should be craftable, though the merge was a good idea. -

1) Makes the game way too easy to get resources
2) Makes mining a pointless task
3) I like to build underground without having to fill in massive areas.
4) They lose their magic as a "nice find" when you're tripping over them every 20 blocks.
5) It's just my own preference.
Agreed. Nobody here (I hope) has a thing against caves, but most people with some sense have problems with the infinite spaghetti cave system (note the singular form) found in all Minecraft worlds, and the frequency of gigantic systems. - To post a comment, please login.

EDIT: After looking through some recent posts, I'm actually starting to become impressed by some of the changes being made behind the scenes... I just shifted from negative to neutral/positive-ish. However, I kinda would've liked to see these sorts of changes just after the game was released, then truckloads of awesome new content afterwards... (We apparently got the complete opposite)
