posted a message on Problems with open Lan.

To OP, my wife and I are having the exact same issue as you are. It appears to be the backpacks mod that is causing the issue for us as we can run Mo Creatures, Voxel map, Archimedes's Ships, Shipwreck and several other mods via LAN with no issue. Once we load the backpacks mod, get stuck at logging into LAN. Try and remove the backpacks mod on both accounts and see you can connect. Hope this helps although it is hell playing without backpacks, especially once you get used to having it. :)

posted a message on Atum: Journey into the Sands

Just throwing this out there for player consideration. I use MoC as my primary mod. If you are familiar with MoC, you know that it adds several creatures to the game, including many that can be mounted and ridden, carried in amulets for transport and incase of the horses and a few others, bred to create new ones. Well, I have gone to the Atum several times with a tamed pet in my amulet. I have ridden my horses across the sands for days searching for baddies..no joy. The real fun came when I took a tame and saddled scorpion with me. Riding that scorpion over the dunes was one of the funniest events I have ever witnessed in Minecraft. Funny as hell but effective. The scorpion make short work of the hills, mountains and valleys as it can climb vertically even with a rider. But, if you want maximum efficiency while exploring, I suggest a tamed and saddled Wyvern from Moc. If only I could find a camel somewhere in the desert...hint hint

Until I get my config settings worked out, I will continue to explore and loot the Atum but once those mobs begin to appear, I will no longer be in exploration mode but rather survival...

posted a message on Shipwrecks! Make Oceans and Beaches more Interesting!

Archimedes is really cool. I usually make a simple four block base with the nav block in front with a seat. I little, quick and maneuverable air bike type set up. I hit the maximum blocks on an airship and flew it as a base for the longest. Now I have several pre=made ships I can choose from. :)

I am still hoping to find a massive ship grave yard somewhere but not very optimistic.

Btw, I am curious, how many different Captain's log books did you add. I have found only two variations, The Mary Celeste(3X) ,a real life ship lost at sea, I believe in one of the Great Lakes. Interesting entry on that one. The other ship name I cannot recall but I love the log entries (entry?). I use Bibliiocraft as well and have a very nice library set up for all kinds of books obtained in game.

I have also had a couple of ideas whilst playing your mod. One is from another mods I use called Aquaculture and it is the message in the bottle. If there was a way to add randomly floating messages in bottles with coordinates of wrecks or where the ship was first attacked, etc...Not sure how it would be implemented or if possible but it would be a cool feature IMHO. Another thought I had concerning your mod is the diving suit. I love the retro diving suit but if you could add some scuba type appearance, goggles, flippers, wet-suit along with other items that reek of undersea exploration and salvage. A depth gauge/ radar would be ideal for those ship that I have raised and choose to sail. Some sandbars can be treacherous and totally shop you dead in the water due to the deep draft on the larger vessels Most times I can tell when I am getting near a shallow area but there is that odd one that hides two blocks below sea level. It could be interesting if you were able to incorporate a salvage type system into your mod where one could raise ships from the depths in a manner similar to how I use the Navigation block from Archimedes.

I am a huge Clive Cussler fan and feel like Dirk Pitt every time I find a wreck.lol

IDK, I have reloaded all of my mods and lowered config settings but I have yet to see anything spawn in the ATUM other than the pharaohs/ mummies in the pyramid and a very random wolf. I am curious if stuff like aquaculture, pam's harvest mod and/or moc are messing up the spawn rate for the Atum. This is getting to be a lot like work....:)

I absolutely love this mod. I run v1.7.10 along with several other mods including Archimedes Ships. I only mention that particular mod because I was able to raise several ship using the nav block from that mod. I have not been able to raise a wave runner yet (over 2048 blocks I imagine) but the other ships are no problem. My salvaged sloop is fun to sail around and using the wooden crate, I am able to lock my MOC wyvern atop the crow's nest while in transit. I wasn't sure I would enjoy this mod but so far, it is one of my favorites.

That is the issue. sometimes these blocks are actually destructible. Like I said, I have gone in the Atum twice and busted my way into a cuople of pyramids and then once I get to a third pyramid, they are indestructible. I think this is also causing my item frames to glitch and become indestructible as well as bonded to whatever block they are placed on, making the base block indestructible also. I was using nether brick with an item frame containing a heraldic scroll from Craft Heraldry. Could not retrieve item from frame, could not knock the frame off of the wall or destroy the nether brick. Reloaded the game and it was corrected but on a hunch, I went to the Atum, busted into two pyramids with no problems, got to the third, voila, indestructible again...I returned to the over world and had the same issue occur with the item frame.

And I have yet to see any mobs spawn in Atum other than a random wolf in the desert and the pyramid bosses upon opening the chest.I have been adjusting config settings but to no avail. I am sure these are minor issues that can be easily corrected.

Concerning the Palaces. I was unaware that these are supposed to be indestructible as well. I have leveled several of them, looted all the books, wood and stone from them. No mobs within, not hidden loot, just a lot of book cases. hmmm, interesting.

update: just threw a bunch of jewelry items into my swimming pool and they all came out nice and shiny..thank you for the info.

update on block issue: I was able to break into the first two pyramids I happened across but once I got to the third, the large limestone bricks were indestructible. I am curious, does this have to do with a pyramid being totally excavated vs. partially buried? The first two I broke into were totally exposed while the next few were in different stages of burial.

I know that you have probably been flooded with request for a 1.7.10 update to this mod so I will refrain from repeating the request but I will say that this has been one of my favorite mods since I found it and my 1.7.10 world is sadly naked without all those rows of high end chronic growing in my underwater hydroponics garden and my rasta-colored smoke shop is severely lacking product...just sayin :)

Thank you for the prompt reply. I read about the water in an earlier post but for some reason, I thought it was a gag. I will try it out in a few. I actually went into my config files and turned the vanilla spawn rates way down on many mobs. hopefully that will fix it..i would hate to have to change configs on each mod I have...jeeze, that would make it almost like work instead of gaming.

Another issue that caught my attention is the block issue. Some blocks break apart like netherack mined with diamond pick axe but the large limestone brick blocks are indestructible...sometimes. I was in the Atum..A -TEE- U- M ( sorry for my frequent misspelling..guess I had Alum Creek on my mind while reading it) and I was able to break apart the limestone large bricks on a pyramid at 8 levels from the top and enter the pharaoh's chamber without havingto dodge fire. I beat the pharaoh and his mummies quite easily using an enchanted neptunium sword( +15 attack, knockback II, sharpnessIV and unbreaking III ). Did I mention I love the neptunium items from Aquaculture :) Anyway, I digress... After I defeated the first boss, I went to another pyramid close by and repeated the same process and with same results ( both bosses dropped some nice loot items). I told my wife about it and she joined my on our LAN server and could not break any limestone large bricks. What was crazier, I could no longer break them apart either. So I had to guide her through the maze..I found an easy way to do that as well, and helped her defeat the boss and minions. I have not logged into our world yet today to see if this issues persists, but is is something I wanted to pass along. Sorry for my rambling, I am only on my first cup of coffee and have not hit the pipe yet today...all will be right in a matter of minutes....

Greetings, I would like to commend you on a great mod. I also use aquaculture along with quite a few other mods. I notice a poster mentioned having issues with twilight forest mobs spawning in Alum (MC v 1.7.10). I have not noticed this issue myself. I have a couple of issues that I have been experiencing since installing this mod. The only mobs that I have found in this dimension are a few randomly spawned wolves and the pharaohs in the pyramids. No bandits, nomads, stone soldiers, nada....I am hoping this is an easy fix as I look forward to engaging these mobs. The other issue has to with textures on the jewelry items. They state silver, ruby, diamond etc.. but the appearance is that of wood, or dirty as I have been reading. I did cheat myself a few of the items for display purposes and all of the textures are as they should be but the ones from loot in survival mode are all plain / wood-like.

I am wondering if the above issue have something to do with the amount of mods I have running. 23 at last count with a couple on standby. Pam's harvest mods add a ton of ids to the game as well as MoC. Could one or both of these cause the low spawn rate from Alum? I also use Archimedes' airship mod, which is awesome in Alum for traversing large patches of desert in no time . oceancraft is another and it seems to play nicely with aquaculture the others. I am a total noob when it comes to config settings and I really do not want to mess up my game, our world that has taken countless hours of playtime to create, thus I avoid making any text changes. Any advice on optimizing my game play with these mods is appreciated.

Again, kudos and diamonds for this and aquaculture..I am trying to talk my wife into trying out metallurgy next...all mods must pass her seal of approval..lol how do you think I stayed married for 22 years.

Anyways, keep up the fantastic work, I look forward to new updates and more great work from your team.

That error doesn't really lay blame anywhere. Perhaps the zip file was corrupt?
That may be possible. When I dl'd the v 1.77, there were two options for that file and I chose the one on top..I will try the other and see if that solves the issue. Thank you for your timely reply.

FOLLOW UP- My sincerest apologies, after going back to your dl page I noticed that the top version I mentioned earlier is for 1.5+ and the bottom one is for 1.6+.. brain fart on my part. I guess I was in too much of a rush to dl this awesome mod that I overlooked the MC version tags....

FOLLOW UP TO MY FOLLOW UP- DL'd v.177 MC1.6+, replaced v.1.7 and no crash on start up. Lesson to self and others..pay closer attention, lol
