I've got that e-mail / username, and a password. Not a 7 digit phone number, as we use 8 digit phone numbers..
But as I said. When I try login with the username and password, the password field fills with some extra *'s and it resets.

The extra *s are a mechanism to hide the number of letters in your password from prying eyes. You can ignore that. That's normal. The un and pw you use to login to your router are different than the un and pw that your internet provider gives you. Try the default I gave you above. See if that works. If not, you'll have to reset your router to get in. After you reset it, it will revert to the default I provided you.

    Zyxel P2602HWT.

I got two homes (don't ask)
do I have to do this on both routers?

The default username and password for your router is:
    User: admin
    Pass: 1234

I assume you've already tried this, so you'll probably have to reset.

You will have to configure only the router that your server is physically connected two. If you are planning to move the server between the two homes, then yes, you will have to configure both routers.

One other thing. You will need to assign a static ip address to your server in order for port forwarding to work continuously. In normal home networks, IP addresses can change. You can find tutorials online for how to do this. Just search for "Setup static local IP address on (your os here)"

ADSL is not exactly the same as DSL, but it's close enough for us to not care about the difference here. You'll need to get the PPPoE credentials from your internet provider. I don't know about your area, but the DSL providers around here use your email address as the username, and your 7 digit phone number as the password. It may be different there, though, so take with a grain of salt.

Is all routers set to default that port 25565 is closed?
Is it possible that it's open by default?

No. All ports are closed on a router by default. You have to pick which ones to open. That's the point of a router.

When you open a port, don't think of it as opening a gate, think of it as posting a sign telling someone where to go.
When you open the port, you are telling the router to send anything bound for a particular port to a particular computer, so open by default would have no meaning, as the Zyxel corporation knows absolutely nothing about your computers when they manufacture your router.

The address you should log in on is the address listed as the gateway address.

For windows-based machines: Click start (then click run if you have it listed), type cmd and press enter. Then type ipconfig and press enter. The gateway address is the one you should be trying to log into.

If you're on linux or some other similar system, access a terminal (which I assume you know how to do on linux if you're running linux) then run ifconfig (notice it's an f, not a p) Look for gateway.

If you're on Mac.... Godspeed. I don't have a clue.

What is the specific model of your router? I'll try to find it.

Well, I've discovered that people, in general, are twats. There are a few good ones, who make everything worthwhile, but the rest are flaming, snot-nosed, grubby twats.

    It's that. I can't log into it. It's a Zyxel...
If I could log into it, it wouldn't be any problem. And for changing the name. Is it possible to do it with a bukkit server. And is it possible to start the server when on other routers aswell?
I didn't quite understand the tutorial you sent me.

If the password hasn't been changed, check this list http://www.default-password.info/zyxel/
It contains all the default password for Zyxel routers.

If it has been changed, look for a reset button on the back and (don't do it yet...) hold it for 30 seconds.
Before you do that, contact your internet provider and get any connection information you need. If you're on DSL, you'll probably need the PPPoE login info (username and password) If you're on cable, you'll need to find out of you're using DHCP or static configuration. If you're on DHCP, you're golden. Reset it. If you're static, get all the information before you reset, or you'll lose your internet connection.

Probably it's safe to reset, but be sure before you do.

Your router (apart from the port forwarding) shouldn't have anything to do with your server. Use a zyxel, linksys, cisco, dlink, whatever. It's all the same to your server so long as your ports are forwarded properly.

    I didn't send the tutorial, so I don't know what's in it.

Ever thought of making something, and bringing it to life? I have and thought it would be awesome if a creature existed! A Golem! You make them with your own blocks (wood, stone, cobblestone, ect.) and make it as big as you want! But the bigger it is, the harder it is to control! To control it, you use a command rod made out of diamond and a iron or gold bar similar to the torch way with the diamond as the coal/charcoal and the bar for the stick. And to create your golem you could use like any block such as stone, diamond blocks, mossy cobblestone, gold, iron, dirt, or obsidian! It will be harder to control it the stronger, bigger, or harder material it is!To make the golem alive you should like make a heart out of wool to determine what strength the golem might have or mood or weeknesses and you use the rod on its heart to make it come alive! Maybe even build your house out of something else different from material the golem is and then you have a traveling house! :Spider: So feel free to leave the comments below to see if you agree with this, think it should changed, any thoughts of what to make it better, or just a bad idea to do! I hope this can happen and I will have my own army of tree golems, or Iron golems!!! or perhaps my own house on a glowstone golem! :Spider: :Spider: :Spider: :Spider: :Spider: :Spider: :Spider: :Spider: :Spider: :Spider: :Spider: :Spider:

Sounds neat, but it also sounds like a CRAPTON of overhead on the game. I'm sure some modder out there can pull it off, but I shudder to think about the performance hit something like that would have on a game that already give craptastic framerates to some people.

That's the problem. I can't forward the port. My router wont let me.
So I HAVE to port forward to get a name instead of ip?

Yes, in order for people to connect to your server via the name, you MUST have port forwarding enabled.

As chuckaknuckle said, dyndns is a good free option that you can use instead of godaddy as long as you don't mind having a name like claryn.dyndns.org or something similar. I use dyndns for two webservers I run, and it works great for a free dns. If you want something more profound like claryn.com or something, you'll have to buy that domain from godaddy or another registrar.

What type of router do you have?

Also, sometimes the port forwarding isn't called port forwarding. Look in the configuration for something called NAT or applications and gaming. They are the same thing.

Would be awesome if someone told me how to make the ip I log in to my bukkit server with to a name... I use hamachi to run the server. Would also be awesome to get to know how I can run it without hamachi (without port forwarding)!

Go to godaddy.com and purchase a domain name. Then, go into your domain control panel and set the @ record to the IP address of your server. Ignore all the other settings. Save. Wait 2 hours.

    Done!

Also, regarding hamachi vs port forwarding: Just forward the port. It takes 3 mins, and it's worth the effort. Hamachi is slow and retarded.

Also, unless I'm missing some magic somewhere, you can't use a dns address (the name instead of ip) with hamachi. If you want a name, you have to forward the port.

    Agreed (:

Also, i became admin during the time when not many people were logging on. Which was great. Helped me gradually get use to it as more people got on. But now, its back to about max ppl (20) and for an admin who is on ALL the damn time, it can get pretty hectic and annoying. So you don't go taunting n pushing ur luck like that...

So with being stuck in the middle of all this, playing almost 24/7, begin admin when there's so many people on and new ppl every day, and old players giving me hell for whos knows what reasons, also trying to get some building done of my own for once... Of course imma make a few lil mistakes here n there when trying to figure out ban, or kick, or ignore... lol. Just trying my best to be an admin in this situation. Not god damn power hungry.

Have you ever considered getting an alt? Create a new account and connect with that when you don't want to be bothered. Being an admin, you can even grant yourself VIP if you want, or you could pretend to be a noob.

    Just a thought.

After perusing this thread, and hearing both angles, I have to say that I believe both sides are right in their own way. It's clearly visible to me that everyone's heart is in the right place, but some seem to be flailing rather than properly putting voice to their opinion, and I believe that Cast has caught more grief in this than she deserves.

Firstly, while not technically a 'noob', I'm afraid I'm still too new to remember the "good ol' days" when Immortal Realms first crawled out of the primordial Minecraft slime to make its mark on the world. That being said, in my short tenure on the server, I have noticed some changes; most for the better. It seems to me like there's a quiet battle raging between the new and old guard, and poor Cast has found herself pinned in the middle. In my personal opinion, Cast is a damn fine admin. I may disagree with some of the things she's said/done, but everything she's done, she's done for the betterment of the server. Every time I've seen something that needed done, Cast has been right on top of it. She may be a bit short at times, but she loves this server, and defends it with her last. Much like a good parent, she tells you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear, and sometimes what you need to hear is "No!".

Cast, I realize we've had our differences, but I fully support you as an admin, and believe you're doing a damn fine job. My only complaint (and it's less a complaint than constructive criticism), is that you sometimes come off as a little confrontational. I've seen a few cases where you've called someone out on asshattery, and warned them that further discussion of the matter would result in a tempban. I've then seen people apologize and get tempbanned for the apology. In my opinion (take it as you will), that's a bit excessive. You sometimes seem to react emotionally to situations that don't really call for it.

All this being said, this is Dade's server. In the few outside-immortal-realms interactions I've had with Dade, he's managed to garner immense respect from me. I, personally, would not have the patience to run a server like he does. You probably wouldn't like a server I ran. It would make Cast's worst day look like a hippie utopia with peace, love, and cookies for all. Running a server takes talent, dedication, patience, and perhaps a bit of masochism.

    Anyway, I'm rambling.

Here's the final word: It was Dade's choice to promote Cast to admin. It's Dade's choice to keep her as admin. No amount of grousing will change that.

Don't like it? Start your own server and STFU.

Hey, foh_da_win? You have f'ed up.

You just ddos'd the favorite server of an IT forensic specialist.

I make my living eating pansy-assed little punks like you.

    1. You will be receiving a cease-and-desist letter from your internet service provider.
    2. If you continue to f*ck with my server, you will be receiving a visit from your local police department.
    3. If you absolutely insist on continuing this nonsense, you will go to jail. DDOS is a federal offence in the US. If you're not from the US, there are applicable laws in your nation that will take effect instead.

Do not f*ck with me. I do not fear you in any way.

Also, if you're proxying while initiating a DDOS, that also adds wire fraud to your list of charges. I WILL find you.
Hide while you can, ass. If not, you're going to quickly learn that there are consequences to your actions.

Myself as well. I purchased a gift code today (around 3:00PM EST (GMT-5)), and have still not received it. This is supposed to be a gift for my little brother tomorrow morning, and I have nothing for him. I made a little paper minecraft chest and a paper creeper complete with built-in firecracker but now I have nothing to put into the chest.

If one of the devs could please get back to me on this, I'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks,
