If anyone were to search "Modcraft" on google, you'll notice this nifty little program to install a ton of mods updated to a server, with auto download and updates ect. However, the tool has become outdated and abandoned, but was the only mod installer that was easy, fast and safe to use! I would love it if you had a look to see if you could continue the man's work, Since the Ui and the facilities it provided worked extremely well for players, and it was compatible for all mods, not like this "MAKE TFC COMPATUBULL PLOX" bull-crap.
Thanks for doing this though, I hope people find it useful!
i've read through your post and here's why i wont continue modcraft or make something similar to modcraft:
modcraft is "illegal" because the author of modcraft uploaded the mods onto his own server without asking for the mod authors' permissions, which btw the forum does not allow
modcraft is "hard coded", that means the codes are customised for each separate mod, this is both inefficient and a waste of time
my program is compatible with all mods, the smart mod adder is the thing you are referring to, the users could always use the manual mod adder
also, modcraft is really a very easy program to make, its just that it is illegal and not allowed, hence i am not going to make anything similar to it
besides, you havent try my program, why dont you try it first? maybe you will like it
sorry guys for my absence recently, it is chinese new year! quite a big thing in my place
anyway, i've abandoned the minemod mini concept and i am looking into a new way to install/uninstall mods by documenting events, this will take quite some time because i am literally creating a new language for documenting the events, more ideas will be welcomed
also, i am looking for someone experienced in vb.net wpf coding, please contact me if any of you are an experienced vb.net wpf programmer
Good job on the new update! I stopped using the tool because it deleted my servers and there was a mod I couldn't get to work with this tool, now it has made vast improvements and it works like a charm. :smile.gif:
thank you
on a side note, i will be releasing MineMod Mini soon, this will be a simplified version of the omni tool, so people that gets dizzy when seeing all the buttons could use the simplified version
Sorry to say, but I think you just made the mod even more busted.
Heres the problems..
Freezes if you enter modname wrong
Smart adder is nice, but it freezes also if you put a mod as the same name as the actual mod, so example, you put Modloader, it freezes as its the name of the actual mod, so you have to initial it.
When you apply changes and try to play minecraft it asks to update and cleans your minecraft so the mods don't apply
The mod..is just..completely destroyed..nothing works..
i am sorry to say, but it must be your own isolated problem, because the rest of the 3 thousand users find this program to have no problems what-so-ever
Edit: you are not supposed to place the program in a location requiring administrator access, i recommend that you place the program somewhere on the desktop and try again. on a side note, do not run the program with administrator rights (dont right click and run as admin)
Thanks for working on this great manager. It (and the original Omni-Tool) remind me of a less finicky version of Oblivion Mod Manager (which is a GREAT thing, trust me).
Sorry to hear about your cat, please, take your time on adding new features.
the minemod omni tool (originally named minemod manager) is inspired by fallout mod manager (almost the same thing as the oblivion mod manager and now the nexus mod manager) so yeah, glad that someone did recognise the similarity
LoL, i cant believe people actually thought cheat engine is a virus, but whatever, the point is there is an easier way to "hack" items/blocks than using cheat engine, things such as tmi, creative, invedit are just easier and much more convenient
not really in the mood for programming, so heres the new features for MineMod Omni Tool Reborn 1.1
release notes:
31/12/2011 - version 1.5 (Reborn 1.1) released
-added compatibility checker
-added option to leave the config folder untouched
-menu strip abandoned
-fixed bugs with deleting server data
-fixed bugs with removing last login id
-Easier to use
-Have sample mods
-Newbie friendly
-Shows incompatible mods
-AutoUpdates
and more... ;( sorry
i suppose i will have to explain...
-Easier to use: my tool requires 3 clicks to add a new mod without the user needing to choose what to add and what not to add
-Have sample mods: my tool does not, but does it really matter that badly?
-Newbie friendly: mine as well
-Shows incompatible mods: yeah this is for R1.1 release, i've done a 4 layer deep recursive algorithm just for this
-AutoUpdates: my tool does have an update checker... if you really want it that badly i could add it in matter of seconds...
yea, its safe, its basicly saying not many people have the program yet so we dont know if its good or not..
a few posts up I explained it
I hope this helped!!
thank you again, you are more than awesome! :laugh.gif:
If this mod works like you say it does then it is the dream manager I have been searching so long for and it is about time someone stepped up to the plate with one such as this. I hate MCPatcher...it clears out my mods and resets the .jar file to "virgin" every time I need to patch.
Anyway...you really need to get this mod to be compatable with "Zomb's fly mod"...I and many others cannot use it until it does which is a sad day for me at the moment and rather burst my "happy bubble".
Please consider...:smile.gif:
actually, zombe's modpack works with the omni tool, you just need to use the "add manually" option instead of the "smart mod adder" option
PS: this tool has been around since 8/8/11 and the version with the smart mod adder has been around since 9/10/11
This is so good. It's so simple to use, better than McPatcher, in my opinion. And zombe's modpack doesn't seem to be incompatible, I got it to install with Smart adder.
thank you

i remember making something similar when i first started making tools
Edit: just wondering, but what did you use for compression and decompression of the minecraft.jar?

does it extract the zip to minecraft.jar or does this work with advanced mods? will this automatically sort out the class files and recourses files?

hmmm weird...
would you mind copying and pasting the whole error code for me so that i could look into it??
