Well, some mods have to be put in the mods folder. Also, some mods (like Equivalent Exchange) are jar files and have to be open via WinRAR or 7-zip. It also helps makes mods a bit easier to manage. From previous knowledge, I believe that the launcher contains the .minecraft folder from the first opening of the program. The problem with this is, any mods that are supposed to go into the mods folder get erased when your folder deletes the previous build. I'd like it to dynamically check whether there are any mods that should be added to the jar or if there are any folder mods. Because all the config files get erased in the process, people play temporarily on one build and then switch will lose all their custom settings in a mod like Optifine. The thing about mods folder mods and jar mods is that, while mods that can be loaded into the mods folder can be loaded into the jar, there are various class incompatibilities that do not exist in the mods folder. Additionally some mods can be very particular if they are supposed to be installed in the mods folder.

Hopefully that wasn't too cluttered. I realize that this a lot to ask of you, but we are supposed to criticize/suggest right? :)
A lot of the things were my own personal additions that I had been making to a different launcher. So constructive criticism do your thing.

i see what you mean there, modders do tend to put settings and other saved data into the config folder and switching between different mod sets does rebuild the config folder from scratch leading to lost of settings (like optifine), for the mean time you could go to (omni tool>settings>ignore the config folder) and check it to prevent the config folder from being deleted

i will work on the mods folder feature right now and hopefully release it some time today, regardless, there's auto update so you dont have to redownload the tool from this thread

i plan on changing the way this tool loads mods in the future so that there wont be all that issue with the config folder

EDIT: i've updated the omni tool so that it actually uses the mods folder, also the auto updater was bugged, i've updated a new one, please delete the previous auto updater as well as deleting the following two folders:

    appdata/omnitool
    appdata/omnitoollauncher

I use to use this quite a bit, before I discovered other launchers. One thing that really bugged me was that when I want to put something into the mods folder via mods button, it would place it in the jar. Please fix?

i did this on purpose, because stuff that goes into the mods folder are supposed to go into the jar

what's the problem with putting them in the jar?

Hi, although I don't use this tool much I think i might be able to help you out a bit.
I own minemod.org, it's currently a server but if you are interesting in setting up a small website at dev.minemod.org?

    Contact me at [email protected]

thanks for your offer, but i dont actually need any more domains at the moment, besides minecraft offical mod support will come sooner or later, no point investing so much in something that will inevitably end

    how about a lemonade stand?

assuming that its true that you are 14 years old, there's really not much you can do, you should probably just study hard for now

if you know how to program, then make a mod or tool or software and link it to adf.ly for profitzz

    alienware all the way

alienware probably has a higher resell value than a mac and alienware could actually handle games, quite obvious choice

posted a message on Is compressing files safe?
dont zip them, it only saves around 20% disk space

i'd recommend using format factory and converting all your avi into wmv

avi is raw and uncompressed stuff that takes up tons of space, turning a 2gb avi intn a wmv could literally turn it into 200mb

    yeah...

norton sucks, but i dont know why you cant run it...

first off sorry for my absence, exam and other factors kept me away from you guys
updates should arrive at the end of February (check to do list for new features  )

    Quote from Sophus

uhh thanks..im glad to hear u wanna make this portable!
i have other little requests about re\named things :biggrin.gif:
1)when u add mod with smart mod adder can the tool advise u to use the zip file name (without .zip of course)instead of a white space?.
2)when u remane a mod previously added can the tool advise u to use the name of the mod instead of a white space?.
3)I noticed that when I rename a mod, the modname in the modname.txt dont change, this could be confused

sorry for the 1 and 2... im very lazy! :tongue.gif:
Thank you for your work and listen to my requests!!
and, of course, sorry for my english :biggrin.gif:

    1) sorry, i dont really understand what you mean by "advise you to use the zip file name" :unsure.gif:
    2) this i could do
    3) may be a bug, i will look into it

    Quote from makermod1

Also... It seems that all functions for creating a mod pack doesnt work besides the jar...
gives a kind of error, just an error or bug report!!
    Thanks!
    Falke

oh! sorry, will fix it for next release (i changed the mod formats but didnt update the create mod pack function)

PS: skyrim kept me away for months as well

    Quote from Sniper M

    Bug found:

When renaming a mod in a mod set, it don't change in the other sets nor in
    "C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\omnitool\mods\{MODNAME}\modname.txt"

    will look into it

    Quote from Splodger1

Wow. This is absolutely amazing! Thanks for making this, it works with all of my mods! Diamonds to you! :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond:

    thanks

    Quote from Sophus

I had a little idea, it would be nice if when adding mods you could add (optional) a link to the mod that should be in the sidebar of the browser
I hope you understand the concept

i actually did that, but removed that function, will add that sometime in the future for a SUPER HUGE REBUILD

this tool is great! ok, is not perfect but i think is more easy than magic launcher or mcpatcher for some reasons.. if u want i can explain.
i wanna suggest some features that could be added
1)the check compatibility is good, but should check only the active mod and not all or is useless!
2)there is some bug (i think) on the "change minecraft source" button give me this error
"Conversion from string "C:\Users\USERNAME\Desktop" to type 'Integer' is not valid. ---> System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format."

and i can only use the default .minecraft folder
3)what i ask now maybe is too much :biggrin.gif: but i try.. i think (my opinion) the mod sets is not fully functional, i think mod sets need merging whit core sets.. for example add new coreset (stored somewhere like is now the main core folder)and whit this method u can take all the old version of mods and minecraft fully working without confusion..i know maybe is just a stupid idea and unnecessary but..I think someone might like it
4)if u dont want add all this useless thing on the point 3) just make the program portable== u can run multiple instances whit their own omnitool folder, in this way u can manage different sets of mods and cores :smile.gif:

i have other suggestion but for the moment its all :biggrin.gif:.
thank you for your work on this program I really like
sorry for my (really) poor english!

thanks for liking this tool
1). my fault, i intended for the compatibility checker to check active mods only, will fix soon
2). yeah you are right, it seems to be buggish, i will probably allow portability (usb sticks and also other locations on the computer) for my next release
3). i think i know what you mean, easily doable really, will add for next version

    Quote from sbandicoot

probably doesn't work on mac, right?

sorry, i do not intend to port this to mac any time soon

    Quote from GrapefruiteCake

how do you install mre complicated mods like smart moving and mo creachers uding this

    please read the instructions

you simply use the smart mod adder option or install manually option to install the "complicated mods"
