Man, your changelogs are always a blast to read :)

em>Whats the significance of the Of?

Because the hardcore(ness?) of the darkness just got buffed.

Because when Flowerchild buffs things, he adds the +1 hardcore buff.

Well, I find BTW to be very noob-friendly as long as the said noob does not mind having to re-start over and over again.
As long as you have the mind to play BTW and keep on playing it, and have a flexible mind, it's actually pretty fun and easy to learn.

Yea but most people come here and see just the windmills. Mentally letting go of your vMC expectations and playing BTW as if it's the only minecraft you've ever known can be a big hurdle to new players, and is definitely the first major one they have to take.

. I just joined one that is about 6 months old. I literally have to walk 3 day/night cycles just to find animals to eat. I wish there was some method by which 'unsettled' biomes could respawn animals. I may ultimately have to leave the server because I literally starve to death trying to find animals to hunt. The OP of the server offered to give me food but why not just offer me diamond tools, too?

I don't entirely see the problem. 3 day/night cycles isn't that bad. At worst, you can kill yourself and get HC spawn to bring you to virgin territory.

The OP giving your some food is quite different from giving you diamond tools. Well not in vanilla maybe. But here, the difference is a few dozen hours of gameplay

If you read my post I said the main way you die is by starvation which the only way you can have a steady supply of food is by either building a cauldron or by traveling thousands of blocks to find a village and both of which are extremely difficult in game considering building a cauldron takes a lot of iron ore to be mined and it's practically impossible to make it thousands of blocks early game. And really dude the fact you're going to make fun of someone for misusing the word literal is a little sad.

cmon i can't have a bit of fun?

Plenty of reactions to this, but i think there are two important points to make:

    *Iron is not scarce
*there are more sustainable foods than just wheat.

well when it comes to playing it like this once you die you're basically starting over. In my opinion the only way you can actually make it mid to late game is if you dont die within the first few nights and survive to make a shelter

Well you have survival figured out. Now implement your solution and jump up the tech tree!

Really though, not-dying is pretty easy once you know what kills you. Besides, every death makes the next one less painful as the world gets more populated by your creations.

P.S. I know what literal means it basically means in you aren't exaggerating :D

I literally cried from that statement. Which means actual tears are coming down my face. If it was literally impossible to do (as you said) then it's easy to check: other people succeeded where you failed therefore it's not literally impossible.

Hey FlowerChild, I had an idea that you might want to consider. What if you made it so that all SFS beacons in all dimensions connected to each other, and allowed players to teleport between them? I know this sounds OP, but there is a catch...the beacon kills you in order to do so. Let's say you wanted to go to a base in the Nether. You would go up to your SFS beacon, right click it and select the aforementioned beacon. After a few seconds of portal animations, the beacon would fry your ass and you would respawn at the destination SFS beacon...in the Nether! This would make it easier to traverse long distances between bases, but still be balanced as an end game toy.

That's what the nether's for: quick transits.

I'd just like to report that whenever I go through a portal to the nether a bunch of mobs spawn right beside me and a creeper blows up the portal. This is really cheap and I am assuming it's a bug.

must've been one hell of an experience

That makes sense, I saw a lot of ocelots around the area where I threw it, so they must have trampled on the seeds. I tried trampling on some of my own plants, but it didn't work very well, must be a low chance or something special about jungles...

Hint: cats descend from ocelots and have a pure soul

Oh well, I tried. anyways, I have an idea that would make hoes a bit more hardcore. Instead of a hoe instantly turning dirt into farmland, it should take multiple tries, like lighting a fire with flint and steel.

why make it hardcore for the sake of being hardcore?

I think scraping by to collect the necessary 18 iron ore is hardcore enough. It's the act of getting stuff that's fun, not fighting some RNG in the hopes that your precious iron lasts a little longer.

but some certain hardcore features could turn people off from the mod. Being able to toggle hardcore modes would solve this issue.

People will be turned off by it, yes. Does it matter? no. The technology experience requires the early game in it's current state. I too have occasionally cursed it. But rob people of the Hardcore and you rob them of the most important part of the BTW experience.

Flowerchild, i recently saw an Extra Credits episode on horror and realized BTW is kind of like a horror. A clever horror combining an abstract horror with the player being the horror himself.

Most of the time i just walk around but occasionally, i realize "there used to be a forest here" or "damn that mine is huge" or "well i just murdered another couple of hundred intelligent beings". It's quite interesting to see the environment represent the player's evil.

Yes, that's one of the things I disliked the most when I was playing BTW a few months ago. Dying is, on too many occasions (especially in the early game), a desirable outcome. For example, when you are badly injured or starving to death, with no chance of recovering health or getting food whatsoever, then killing yourself, drowning in the nearest body of water or jumping off a cliff is the only way to spare further suffering. Such dead ends give the game a kind of a depressing vibe, something dark and gloomy (I assume to an extent intended by FC) where suicide is part of the game progression in the early stages. However, for me this mechanic is really sad. I know very few video games in the industry where a low health bar is followed by impaired movement and you can get stuck in a hole; they always give you a chance to save your character in extremis. I know that FC added Hardcore Movement in his "Hardcore Crusade" against Mojang's negligence and laxity, but FC is only one developer, with his flaws and excesses, like every other human being, and had he worked with a team of developers, someone else with a more light-hearted personality would have come up saying: "Come on, let's tone down a bit this hardcore movement thing, killing oneself is too sad".

The best way to survive movement impairing effects, low health and no food is to avoid getting stuck in it.

Check your door for creepers, avoid skeletons to the plague, engage zombies when you absolutely know you can win and if it looks dangerous, it probably is.

Better than Wolves isn't hard. It is hard compared to minecraft. Minecraft is had compared to.....breathing? i don't know. I played Dark Souls II and found it not hard. I found it was a teacher that hit me on the finger every time i made a mistake. I blamed myself, analyzed my mistake, concocted a plan to prevent a further mistake and then went on to beat what it threw at me.

BTW is similar, although i find it more forgiving. If you play, expecting sensible things (e.g.don't punch a zombie to death, don't fight a zombie with an iron sword unless you have a nice bit of armor and try and kill something with a 20-foot pole rather than hugging).
In a word, play it more sensible. You'll love it. unless you don't like that playstyle, then you won't.

-EDIT 2- Aaaaaaand I just finished the first mobtrap I'm proud of. It works flawlessly, and it'll look nice after it got 40 blocks tall (for now, it's just a weird box with funny faces):

I like the creeper face on it :D

Every time you people say nothing to worry about, I worry, and start avoiding those things like the very plague.
Sooner or later, I'll just end up not doing anything, or just end up snapping and doing everything with no concerns for safety whatsever

Don't worry, you can safely do the latter.

uhm? of course this is enforceable in court. It says you can't make money off of other people's property. whatever way you spin this, payservers violate this.
