posted a message on 11 year old programmer.
Jar programs are the output of java, which minecraft is coded in, there are countless tutorials on the internet, and it is a very beginner-friendly language. However, most people like to use lwjgl(used by minecraft) for graphics, audio, and textures, along with slick util. however, as lwjgl uses opengl, which is NOT very beginner friendly, it may not be the best place to start out, and many good ones are either fixed-pipeline, and/or outdated, however, I did find these: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRIWtICgwaX0u7Rf9zkZhLoLuZVfUksDP, which are made programmable, and very recent, however, make sure you use lwjgl 2.9 with those, lwjgl 3 just came out, so, no tuts. However, if you are interested in python, blender uses python as its scripting language, so you could use blender's game engine to make a game(it's also the top free program for modeling and animation), that would be great, because python is also fairly beginner friendly, however, blender, isn't. If anything, javascript is probably the simplest, however, with a lot of dedication, and an open mind, you could learn anything you want in no time! And by no time, I mean like, well, months, IT'LL FEEL LIKE NO TIME! :P All of the above are capable and made for 3d graphics, however, if you just want to use 2d, then use slick2d (yes, slick2d and slick-util ARE different) I hope you your passion, good luck!

PS: be warned, java 8 is NOT compatible with minecraft

Oh wow thanks. Touched me really, lately things have been exceedingly difficult for me to work on my ever complicated life and both my mods have suffered greatly. You would be such a breath of fresh air to motivate me thank you, in fact, you came in at the perfect time. And I love Tesla too. And DIY projects, Wow. :)

What has this world come to?

Haha, 50% of my daily ranting is about the stupidity of humanity, which you could clearly see in my skype conversations, I may not make sense with it all the time, but I do criticize. A small skype (transcript):
Luke: oh and btw the girls that stole my friend's phone are even stupider than I thought.
Luke: they actualy took a photo of themselves with the stolen phone (which we got back)
Luke: how stupid can someone be
    thedoctor3141: (rofl)
    thedoctor3141: humans.....
The Creepy Guy | Minecraft Modeler: cows.....
thedoctor3141: humans are dumber than cows
thedoctor3141: humans are stupid for what we do, cows are stupid for what they dont do, which must mean they are more intelligent :P
And before anyone goes ranting about how I don't find any solutions.. that's the easy part! The hard part is convincing people to accept them! That's what we need to find solutions too...

But how would I start making very simple mobs?

Start with simpler things, and Vic_ is right, I would suggest learning a little java first though, specifically methods, you can also look at repos on github, however most of those are large mods that are hard to navigate.

Okay I want to say that this mod may be well known but I only heard about it recently. I think getting a lot of youtubers for it would help boost publicity, because some people don't check planetminecraft or minecraftforums often or ever. I do agree though, that if you let just anyone make videos it'd be bad, but maybe during open alpha you should consider at least 10 or 20 youtubers that you can trust or that are famous. I think if you got even more people excited about this mod and supporting it or even helping it would make it even better. You could reach lots of Whovians that way. Anyway just a suggestion, cause I literally found this mod like a week or two ago.

I hope YOU don't mind. but i would like to sugest 5 popular youtubers

    TheDiamondMinecart.

    OperationDX

YOGSCAST Lewis & Simon <(i think there top of the list)

    MarkIplier

    Scot Manley

TheiKing hates Yogscast, but he stated they would definitely give it to direwolf in open alpha was it?

I never said it was made for kids, and maybe minecraft isn't great for all kids but is good for many. Honestly it's just an all around game for many ages, I don't think it's worth arguing who should and should not play it. (that's what I interpreted from your arguments, so correct me if I'm wrong)

Okay, fine, I get it, but I'll just point out that there are 3 types of rules: rules, rules-that-nobody-follows-because-they-are-so-stupid, and unwritten rules, take your pick. And who's going to arrest a kid's mom for buying her 7 year old minecraft? Really... nobody's getting shipped off to prison for that. Point is: It doesn't matter.

(website != game), that has mainly to do with child internet safety laws. and minecraft is great for kids, compared to all the other hd blood and gore games, and it's like a lego world, so yeah, perfect for kids

My 60-something year old grandma plays Rift ALL DAY LONG ON A GIANT FLAT SCREEN TV she calls her desktop monitor, she's awesome! I may get her into modding, cause she also happens to have a background in visual Basic, pottery, and painting,,, go figure..... :D

Some more content or even a proper documentation would help dramatically.
    :D
He literally shows all the current content in that screenshot, and Luke is modeling a modern windmill for it, and there is a battery, but yes, he has a hard time laying down an exact theme, he told me he wanted to make this giant mod because he was getting tired of buildcraft and IC2 getting old, I have a theme idea of navy blue with neon green trim whatevers as the theme, but maybe some public help would, well, help! *durduh* So lay down theme ideas, it would help development, or at least in my opinion.

Elbow Witches (Ojibwa), The list goes on, and on, and on.

OK, I think I'm finished with my list, there are several good creatures in there, as well as many more, I've left the majority up to you to find out about, enjoy :)
Lol, this thread is practically dead! Well, I guess I revived it. :/ But uh, Dogking, I and like 10 others are currently working on it, so the mod is not dead, but this thread is, sort of... Anyways, http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/2584415-mod-team-mythical-mobs-and-fantasies-mod-apply-inside/ this gives a few details.
