posted a message on [Launcher] Magic Launcher 1.3.4 (mods, options, profiles, news)
So I've read the last 3 pages of posting looking for any 'fixes' or info on the 1.7.2 server login failures. I've tried about 6 different servers with the launcher and received the 'Failed to login: Invalid session (Try restarting your game)'.

For the past couple days I just assumed that maybe cause of the multiplier changes that that may have messed with the magic launcher and that I just had to wait till its updated accordingly, but in one of your posts you stated it was working fine for you, so now i'm unsure if maybe I'm not doing something right or if i missed something. Or even perhaps the launcher does just need updated, which is fine, worth the wait.

I've read the Help Sections you posted but I didn't find anything that I can see that pertains specifically to the issue I'm having, though i could have missed it or maybe did not understand some lingo. If I did, I apologize.

So here are some screenshots as well as a list of some random servers I tried (as you have been asking for):

    Sample of Servers:

192.99.8.49:25613 <- Only one I've actually been on and played the past few days. Others are tests.

    6GB RAM
    Intel® HD Graphics 3000

    Maximum Graphics Memory 1696MB
    *I normally have minecraft set to 500MB - 1024MB

Why do you want to join our server: Looking for a pleasant and mature server environment to play on, though I do enjoy a bit of goofing off. As well as your rules are normally what I look for when playing a server.
What do you look forward to the most in our server: just playing minecraft and playing with relatively mature people from time to time
Do you have Skype or TeamSpeak 3: I have skype but I only use it with close friends atm.
Tell us about yourself: I'm an Admin of a server that is currently on a temp hiatus since everyone is too busy atm to really put the time we would like to on the server. I like to build ranches and care for my minecraft livestock :3 and besides ranches I usually build nice kinda suburban/modern houses or sometimes just laydown most of the groundwork for towns (plots, roads, community farms and such).

I haven't tried this mod out yet but i'm going to in a bit since it looks pretty fun. Also kudos to all the work you put in for it.

I was curious though (sorry if this was asked already) with the recent 1.6 announcement for horses. Will you retailer your mod to work with the MC horses or continue workin with you own ideas?

edit: nevermind found the post you made about 1.6 on page 161(LOL).

yeah i'm not sure what is going on. I don't understand how my old 1.4.7 bukkit server can run but the Minecraft client just does not work for me. I've scanned my server.properties files and can't see anything different between the 2 that would cause this effect.

posted a message on 1.5.1 Vanilla Server not reachable?
So, Hi again...this time I was just trying to setup a 13w17a server client. Same thing as I stated above. I even just used canuseeme.org when I had the 1.4.7 and then the mc client server running (each at a different time). The 1.4.7 bukkit can I guess access the 25565 port and is visible; but the MC client servers are unable to connect or something ;/

    Anyone?

posted a message on 1.5.1 Vanilla Server not reachable?
I was trying to set up a server for my room mate and I to play on (I forgot about just using LAN ;p) but I couldn't get it to work. I've port forwarded and made a few servers before, as well still have the port forward setup for my old server still intact.

So I tried to run my personal 1.4.7 bukkit server map which I use if want to play with plugins. It was not working showing the red x over the connection. I had forgotten to check my email and renew my no-ip host. Renewed that and still it wasn't working...figured out the whole squawking of the change your email for no-ip was blocking it. So changed to dummy email then back (As long as you check your email/remember your password/renew your host dns thing you shouldn't experience this) and my 1.4.7 bukkit server worked and was connectable again.

But here is the weird problem. The regular Mojang provided server client for vanilla minecraft is not working. It works for the 1.4.7 bukkit server, not for the 1.5.1 mojang client. I am not running them both at the same time either.

Is there something else I am missing for 1.5.1?

    Info:

    Linksy Router
    port: 25565
    ipv4: 192.xxx.x.xxx
    Protocol: BOTH
    Windows 7
Firewall is Ported for both TCP & UDP
    No-IP.com - xx.xxx.xx.xxx and [serverName].servegame.com

Again my 1.4.7 bukkit server is working and I can connect to it. Now I'm just completely stumped on why the 1.5.1 vanilla Mojang Client is not working for me.

    Ty for any help.

posted a message on McBans - Discussion
I personally like MCBans a lot. Idk about the whole email thing from the long 2nd/3rd post; i got bored and stopped reading honestly. Though I do understand where players who have been banned via the MCBans plugin have issue with unjust **** bans as well as immediate bans for bans they have already have.

But like any plugin its really just comes down to the maturity of the Server Staff that is using it. We have used MCBans on our servers for about 2 years now I think. There are probably many disputable bans from our early servers, but now we do make effort to do proper bans. When players grief we take pics of the damages and post them with their bans normally. Also we have our server set up so only Admins have the Global Ban ability, while mods are able to use the local ban and kick. We have within the so many months have set up jails to help/hope of cutting down on the need to ban players.

The best way to combat unjust bans and what you feel is improper handling of the Plugin is to create an account on MCBans find the server that banned you and submit an Appeal. Good servers will Utilize the ability to upload 'Proof' like in-game shots or Server logs; as well as the use of Logblock or Hawkeye (or other Block Logging plugins).

    My Unjust Ban

I know awhile ago I logged onto a server and it stated I had a ban on MCBans, which was a WTF? because at that time I had not played Minecraft for about a month or two. I had a global ban from a server I had never been on. At the time I only ever played on one server, maybe looked at some others but never stayed. Later found out it was a player from one of our old servers, who I had not banned, but was y or something. A friend eventually located him on the server he did the ban on and talked to him. He apologized and removed it. We all still play the same server's from time to time.
So I do understand how people feel with unjust bans such as that, especially when you get them for Servers you have never even been on -_-
That was over a Year ago though, so I doubt at that time if I hadn't known the player who had done it, I do not think that would of been resolved. But again now when something like that happens, you are able to Dispute and make an Appeal as I said above.

Early to Current MCBans Right/Wrong/Alternative Admining

Also on our early servers, as Staff, it is a Red Flag to see people with previous bans. Especially when they are for griefing. So early servers (about a year ago) we would definitely hold bias towards those players who had bans already. I think it was possible some local bans were issued on those that had too many bans. I'm not sure honestly. Though I did ask a couple players to leave the server when they had Matching 'clan' IGNs as well as about 3-4 bans each. I just simply watched them at spawn and asked them to please leave, and after about 10 minutes they left and never came back. That was when the staff was starting to become seasoned and mature I guess, trying to make alternatives to banning people outright.

[Current Methods] Though most if not all of our admins, even myself, usually use the /lookup [player] command for MCBans to read the bans. We also normally just watch them for a certain amount of time when they first join the server as well as check them from time to time. Normally, at least I find, that people will grief with in the first 30 minutes to an hour of joining a server if they intend to grief.

    Recent Global Ban/Dispute:
I had a Ban Dispute a few months ago from a Player who did in fact grief our server. He had dug up some road and removed coal ore that was part of a building. One of our admins followed him around and took snapshots of the damages as well as snapshots with Logblock details in them. He later made a dispute on the MCBans site, which I saw the notification on the server. I had already cataloged the ban proof with the bans. So I just resubbmitted them on my reply. His ban was found to be Valid.

    Summary and New Idea
Really it all just comes down to Human Interaction as well as Staff Maturity with All Administrative Plugins. Good Admins are Made. whether it is from their own trial and error; or Owners and Senior Server Staff taking time to train or lead by example for new Mods/Admins. Though there are some who are great/mature admins without needing time or training. Though I've been Admin for a friend's (He was the first owner of my first server I ever played on about 2 years ago) servers (countless maps and many servers later); I still can make mistakes and can make overzealous bans. Can't be a great to perfect Admin 24/7 (everyone has other stuff goin on); but we can work to at least fix those mistakes we have made.

Maybe instead of everyone always complaining about the MCBans system as well as any other Banning Plugin, etc. We should change the discussion and move it towards Teaching one another how to be a Better Mod or Admin. Even a better Owner. Start a discussion on how to utilize different tools on the internet and plugins to have proper evidence to make Just bans.

So I'll leave with this to hopefully start off a New Discussion and maybe even make a new post.

    Better MCBans use:

    1. Use /lookup [player] to view previous player offenses (if any)
    2. Watch or Check on player from time to time if you feel said player is a risk.
    - Plugins like Vanishnopacket (Vanish) can allow your staff to become invisible which allows for easier surveillance
    - Also I suggest you make it a Rule for your Staff not to Troll to heavily with it or disable interactions when vanished.
    3. If Player is found rule breaking:
    - Stress that your Staff needs to take snapshots with F2 for ban Proof first.
    - Have the chat up when you use LogBlock (other Logging Plugin) when using F2 for chat log Proof
    - Then perform Ban (local or global depending on MCBans proper ban system)
    4. Upload Pictures/snapshots for Ban Proof to said player to MCBans.

Now, MCBans has a area in the control panel/database thing, where you can add your staff to the Server MCBan profile as well as give them permissions. Such as the ability to upload pics to bans or change bans around from local to global. If Owners of servers set this up so their Admins, maybe not all but their Seasoned ones, can upload pics to the bans they issue as well as others. This will help greatly to reduce weak/unjust bans.

Also for lower Admins or Mods that are not allowed access to MCBans or whatever the issue appears to be. There is a tool called Dropbox. You can sign up for free as well as get 2GB of storage space free when you join. All you need is an email as well as everyone on your staff you plan to have use it. You can Download it to your desktop, it will appear as a folder saying dropbox, or just access it from your My computer. Dropbox is an Online Storage Space program/tool. Once you have set it up you can log in to your online account and create a new folder. Name it and use it to share files with your staff such as screenshots of rule breaking. Also you get more space the more people you share folder/folders with.
There is more info and a proper tutorial on the Dropbox site. Again it is free and quite easy to use. Though this is just one tool you can use. If you find another that suits you then use it.

posted a message on Should Mojang add horse saddles or should horses use old saddles?
yeah i think it would be a bit more resource efficient to use the old saddles still and do away with the crafting recipe.

Also with the villagers, you don't have to rely on dungeons for saddles. If your trade with a butcher enough they will eventually offer up Saddles for like 6-8 emerald or so.

Though i suppose having a recipe for the horse saddle makes sense because humans eventually created saddles for horses.

I guess you can look at riding pigs as a rare treat.

idk really. I am loving the horses though. I never played the mo'creatures, so this is fun for me. I like all the textures they have. <3

EDIT: Oh and i just found out that when you kill your horse it drops the piggy saddle lol.

posted a message on minecraft.jar trouble
Instead of modding your jar file like that. It is easier to download Minecraft Launcher and use it to run you Minecraft, as well as easily install various mods.

Just download it and run it. Before hitting login though, hit the Setup button. It will take you to another screen to easily add whatever mods you would like to use just by hitting the ADD button.

Goodluck with your modding and whichever method you use.

posted a message on Errors between Modloader/Optifine when using Magic Launcher
So I've been using Magic Launcher for awhile now, though I've only ever used it with the Optifine Mod. In 1.4.7 I decided to try using some other mods, like SinglePlayerCommands, FPS++, Rei's MiniMap, and Modloader.

I had no issue with Modloader and Optifine then. Had them listed so no errors showed up and could run everything fine. Optifine was towards the bottom as well, Modloader on top.

Now for 1.5 I'm using the same configuration. As last time with all the mods and Optifine says it has 7 errors. Anyone know why this is occuring for 1.5?

posted a message on Texture problems while using Modloader and MC Patcher
Idk if this is what it is. It looks like you are using the default minecraft texture pack. The textures are setup differently now then what they were. They used to be a single sheet with all the block textures on it. Now they are all split up into their own personal textures and what not.

Anyway I think it may be because minecraft default does not normally have the whole complete covered grass block. So maybe its pulling the grey-scale one over in its place cause it is confused...Its just a thought. Though I imagine the mod usually pulls the top of the grass block texture to copy around its sides. ;/

Hope you are able to find a fix though. gl.

posted a message on Need Help Please
Don't think this is the proper place for that, but if your still having issues still when your read this. Try closing minecraft while you have your .minecraft folder open. I had a similar issue when i went to rename a texture pack in the folder (java plateform se binary error). At the time I had the .minecraft/texturepacks folder open simultaneously with the Minecraft launcher running. I closed the minecraft launcher and it worked.

Also its been a long time since I used mcpatcher, so possibly you missed a step during install. Also, I don't think you did or would don't unzip the texturepack zip file.

You may want to actually try downloading Magic Launcher instead of using the mcpatcher since it has the HD texture already implemented. Also with Magic Launcher, since you are planning to use the 128x128 texture pack, you can use the launcher to easily install Optifine Mod.

posted a message on INTERNAL EXCEPTION: JAVA.NET.SOCKETTIMEOUTEXCEPTION: READ TIMED OUT
Yeah actually once the server updated to 1.5; I was able to log in fine. I'm still having pretty bad fps though. Everyone else seems to be running fine. I have on average 10-14 fps and I'm using Optifine ;/

Though I found that SK (developer of world edit and world guard) has been working on a Minecraft Launcher. I normally use Magic Launcher personally and they both pretty much have similar feature. Though for the 1.5 vanilla server I play with my one friend on I'm using Sk's launcher since you can allocate more ram through it. Though it does not seem to do much of anything for me cause either way Minecraft is still only using 256-350MB. Though when I'm in the chicken pits and near the animal farms I get 20 fps easy as well as 30 fps at times.

But back to the internal error thing. Idk what the hell was goin on still. At least for me it was fixed for that server upon the 1.5 update. ;/

If you guys are having the issues on servers. I was thinking that maybe there is a weird rats nest or something in the Player data file for whichever server you are having that issue on. Your not goin to like this, but I think if this is the issue, you may have to find a way to contact the owner and see if they will be able to go into the world folder and Delete your player data profile for the server. So maybe whatever you tripped may be erased and when you log on you are kinda like a new entity.

I never really got to try this solution personally cause by the time one of the owners was on when I was to ask, they had already updated and the problem resolved. Though I had him delete my profile anyway just incase. I only think of this because the other 2 of 3 server's I play on; I had no issues or internal errors like this when I would log on.

I hope this idea helps a few of you.
