Well, before I begin, I'd like to give you diamonds for originality! I was scanning the forums and was burnt out by the traditional MCreator ruby tool mods, but then came upon this one, which was, :o! ORIGINAL!!!!!So, Diamonds to you, sir! :Diamond::Diamond::Diamond:
I really like the idea of instead having to go to the Nether, you can just craft the items with what you would make a portal out of. The idea of the Nether in your pocket really got my wheels turning!
If I'm reviewing a mod, I'm going to review EVERY ASPECT of the mod. So that's what I'm going to do now!
First off, textures! You didn't have to do much with textures, because you only added two new items to the mod, but I think you did a good job with the two textures you had to make! They aren't Rival Rebels textures, but they aren't put-together-in-2-seconds-with-paint-and-pretended-I-spent-a-lot-of-time-on-it textures either, not even close to the latter, actually. The hand-sized portal looks like, well, a hand-sized portal. As for the ore, I'm glad you didn't just take iron ore and change the color of it a bit, and actually changed the shape of the ore speckles. Looks kind of like a cat scratched it!
Next up, practicability in a let's play situation! I would just like to say, a durability bar (found out the Pocket Nether Link lasts for 8 stacks of blocks and then breaks) was extremely smart of you, because otherwise it would be REALLY overpowered. I'm going to go through the recipes 1 by 1, and say what I think of them. Recipe 1 will be whatever recipe is first, Recipe 2 will be whatever recipe is second in a left to right order in your screenshot and so on. Recipe 1: Seems fair. You aren't going to the Nether and getting the mobs plus the items, just getting items in return for other items, so it makes sense the recipe would be a bit cheaper than an actual Nether portal would be. Recipe 2: This one doesn't make a whole lot of sense. You can just smelt the Quartz Ore and get Quartz, why would you combine the Quartz Ore with another item to get the Nether Quartz Ore and then have to break the Nether Quartz Ore to get the Quartz? Experience, maybe? Still doesn't make much sense to me. Recipe 3/5: These are basically the same recipe so i'll answer with one thing, and they seem fair. Its just a Nether block being made from it's Overworld counterpart, right? Yeah. Makes sense. Recipe 4: I'm not too sure what I think of this one. I mean, obviously sand is the main ingredient. A bone and rotten flesh... it could work. Personally, I would have gone with a slimeball. Recipe 6: This just feels too OP for me. The Soul Sand isn't hard to get, seeds and mushrooms are easy to get. If the Soul Sand used a slimeball I think this recipe would be fair. Recipe 7: This one also seems too OP. If you have obsidian, you're gonna have a crapton of coal and iron. And with the Nether Wart easy to get... just too OP. Recipe 8: I think this one is fair, because, even though the blaze rods aren't that hard to get, you'll still need glistening melon and water bottle and gunpowder. Recipe 9: This one seems a bit too difficult to get. Gunpowder can be hard to get, unless you have a mob farm. Perhaps you should a glowstone BLOCK instead of just the dust? Recipe 10: This one... this one doesn't make any sense to me. So, you added the 3% chance of skeletons dropping their skulls, which is 0.5% more of a chance than Wither Skeletons have of dropping their skulls. So if you get the skeleton skull, you have to put it through the Portal Link, but you ALSO have to add a ghast tear, which, using this mod, uses a recipe that while isn't too hard to make it isn't easy to make. And THEN you have to get a DIAMOND! I think that you should change the recipe to the Portal Link, a skeleton skull, and coal.
So, all in all, I think you have a fantastic mod idea going here, and with some recipe changes, I would definitely consider adding it into my personal modpack! You should also probably add some other things, perhaps "Overworld Fortresses" similar to Nether Fortresses but in the Overworld with new items and things like that, just so you can add more things!
