With what he has showed, you could easily replace some of the images with your own textures if you wanted. If you knew much about C++ could could probably figure out how you could go about modding by taking these files.

Your PC build is the same as mine and I don't know why you'd expect any better performance. The CPU does bottleneck everything and I have never been able to play popular modpacks with Phenom II x4 970 and in a lot of other games that are CPU intensive I find run equally bad. The i5 4690k is the best processor that I'll never have money to afford, good thing DirectX12 reduces the CPU usage in games though right?

Very unoptimized. Looking at a very "treeish" area with that seed with the 32 render distance brings me down to 50 fps, if I ended up using something like optifine back in 1.7.2 I'd have a consistent 500~ fps.

    Sauce please.
I would like to know for sure but since Optifines multi-core rendering never worked the best its hard for people to tell if the whole world is rendered 100%.
It would be really great to get 500fps with that render distance but with unreliable chunk loading its almost useless if you move about a lot in the world. You also have to take into account the new stuff the snapshot adds, try running Optifine extreme render distances with mods installed which change chunk generation and add new stone generation and allow you to customize every aspect of terrain generation yourself.

Back in vanilla 1.7.X I was getting high fps >60 on normal and far render distances however I found playing very irritating due to huge lag spikes randomly ticking me off along with the fps feeling stuttery. I installed Optifine and it smoothed out the fps but not the lag spikes. It is really strange that you're using so much GPU and less CPU, I have seen max usage of 50% GPU while 80~100% CPU usage. I know its time for a new CPU and think with it I would see benefits in all games. My friend has an i5 3330 I found out, I think he saw a large improvement after overclocking his GPU which would stay in line with you and your i5 only being used 45% but using your GPU nearly 100%. He reported at first an fps about 30 but then found out he had v-sync on and removed it to get 50-60 fps. It really is tricky to say since both your systems are so very similar, I am not sure if its something slowing your system down or if my friend just failed at benchmarking maybe by using a superflat world. I wish I had access to more hardware than my 5 year old system.

What are your specs? I've heard people say Optifine uses the GPU to help out slow CPUs but I've always gotten negative performance effects from using Optifine despite my newer GPU. I would expect Optifines larger chunk rendering distances to be better since they have had them in their mod for years now but Mojang made chunks load in 32 by 32 sections instead of 16 by 16 (which will require more CPU) get this render distance working for the first time ever in their own rendering engine.

As of the newest snapshots along with performance improvements there has been a change to the maximum render distance. I feel like when the game developer makes performance attainable in their game they have to add an option to make the performance unattainable too. So in the interest of seeing how newer hardware than mine performs with double the render distance I would like to collect frame rates with everyone's PC specifications as well.

Before you even launch Minecraft, in the launcher you must click the edit profile button and at the bottom of the window you must check the checkbox for JVM Arguments and beside it past in: -Xmx3G this will allow Minecraft to use 3gb of RAM, only about 2gb of which is necessary however I don't want any discrepancies in our results due to lack of RAM, however you can try both -Xmx2G and - Xmx3G and post best results. The attached image displays the in game settings you should have while measuring your frame rates. While measuring frame rates be sure to look the full view distance not at anything that would obstruct your view.

The most important specs I want to review are the CPU and GPU. Something else I think could be important is RAM speed but I feel it unnecessary for those who don't want to but for those who do you can get it from CPU-z under memory. One thing I did was open GPU-Z and task manager while running 32 render distance and saw my GPU was only being used around 30% then my CPU was being used at 80%-90% so I know my bottleneck is the CPU.

    Specifications:

    CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 925 OC @ 3.2Ghz

GPU: NVIDIA GTX 650 Ti 1gb OC GPU clock 1000GMHz Mem clock 5500MHz

RAM was running at 400~500MHz so data rate of 800~1000MHZ.

    FPS: 15-20

EDIT: For further accuracy everyone use the seed: debug
just looking around I was getting 8-14 frames per second after the whole distance had generated. I also noticed way far off in the distance a forest fire was blazing and it was pretty amazing. I am surprised to see so many people having problems with the latest snapshot considering my old slow CPU and I have been rocking the highest fps I've ever had since Minecraft Beta 1.4 when I started. My friend has a lower end i5 and a boosted version of my GPU and he gets 60 fps with the 32 render distance.

I get these in 1.5 but not 13w04a or before. I has a Phenom II x4 2.8Ghz, GTX 650 Ti Overclocked, 8GB Ram and a 64 bit system. Everything is updated but I want to see what software and settings everyone who doesn't get the "Lags" in 1.5 has.

Cubic Chunks! I don't know how I missed that this mod existed. I need to work this into my thread telling people how to get Higher Worlds, but I could use more info.

Is it possible to "import" or convert an existing ymod 256, 512 or 1024 high map into a 'Cubic Chunks' map? For instance; Could the Little Big World ymod downloadable map be converted into a Cubic Chunks map which could then be played in 1.7.3? It would also be good if one of your maps could be converted into a ymod map, at least the parts that fall within ymod's height limits.

If so then it would be great if you and nadine could get together! nadine's map would be a fantastic test case for your mod. You would be able to use the LittleBigWorld map to stress test your mod and improve it. :smile.gif:

btw: If you see a lot more people coming to this thread soon it will have all been because Nocte brought it to my and other peoples attention. :smile.gif: And, of course, I'll be adding links to here and mentioning it in several places now. :wink.gif:

MINE KEEPS CRASHING im using forge 1.1.2 give me link for 1.1.1 if so

Could you explain further? Do you mean it doesn't blow up bedrock blocks (bedrock is supposed to be invulnerable)? Or that the explosion stops before it hits bedrock (this would be a glitch)? Or that it won't blow up if it is below bedrock (this would also be a glitch)?

    Thanks.

is there a server one and also does it have to be forge 1.1.1 or can it be forge 1.1.2
