I was just remembering this moments of my noobiest days. What was your noobiest moment in survival?
Mine was when I just spawned in a new world and just got Minecraft: Pocket Edition, and I killed a creeper. I thought I killed the 'King of the Zombies' , little did I know that I just killed a regular mob! xD
Slimes spawn in open areas, like swamps, and, of course, superflat. This has been removed in 1.8 because Slimes now only spawn in the chunk you are near/in.
I would add more building items and blocks, such as an item that automagically (#newwordseveryday) creates structures, or things like side slabs, floating blocks that you can place in the air, or even mobs that build random things.
I think Minecraft takes place in it's own time, since you have things like blacksmiths and swords, but advanced things like command blocks, wiring, and electric (redstone) appliances. Just my opinion
If you use barriers /give (you) minecraft:barrier <amount> you can block the places you don't want anything(or anyone) to get into, then just make a secret entrance into the place you barricaded. Hope this helps
You all have came to this post for a good reason: To effect yourself without potions. This can be an easy task, or a hard one. First you must start by getting yourself a command block.
The code: /give (your name here) minecraft:command_block
With you command block in hand, place it down on the ground. Right-click it to bring up the GUI. In the top box, type in the code in the spoiler,
/effect @p (or your name, either works!) <name of the effect, list will be in the post> <time you want it to last for, in seconds, 1 to 100000> <how great the effect, 0 to 255> <if you want to see the particles, yes=true, no=false>
You will now have the correct coding, except for the actual effect! Here is a list!
speed
slowness
haste
mining fatigue
strength
instant health
instant damage
jump boost
nausea
regeneration
resistance
fire resistance
water breathing
invisibility
blindness
night vision
hunger
weakness
poison
wither
health boost
absorption
saturation
Say you wanted to apply poison 1 to a player, you would do:
/effect @p poison 60 0 true
The player in question would besubjected to poison for 1 minute
I hoped this tutorial helped. If it did, I will gladly be making more tutorials. Happy Crafting!

Maybe a bug, or maybe a preset? I don't have the slightest clue

You could just make a regular mine at Y:12
Or just go deep into a cave, as this saves durability on your pickaxe, but can be dangerous due to mobs.
