So me and by buddy were about to play the new inferno mines on multiplayer (it's more fun for us to play together). However, at the start point we try to push the buttons to teleport, and nothing happens. We tried it on single player and it worked, so it appears to be a multiplayer issue. Has anyone else had this sort of problem? Is there anyway to fix this? We have played many super hostile maps before in multiplayer just fine.

    Thanks!

Me and my friends also had this issue a few days ago and cound not figure out. Crossing our fingers it will start working when we try to play later.

Sadly, Waking Up is the first super hostile map that I do not like. What I love about super hostiles so much is that each area is like a different themed world. Waking up seems to lack that, and it just gets too boring too quickly. That, and the time it takes before you get to the first intersection is far too long.

I miss maps like Ledgendary and Spellbound Caves. The latter of which is my favorite.

Nevertheless, Vechs is still awesome and I have high hopes for future maps!

    Quote from Locklear308

Perhaps it can make a more unique tool, not just a "better" one

    This.

I think the emerald should be able to be used for currency and for tools. It's seems silly to only use it as money when it's so similar to diamond in look and concept.

Personally I think emerald should be used for one (maybe two) of these possibllities:

-They should have applications to redstone materials (such as being used as "batteries" or the like).
-They should be able to be used to create a new set of tools. Those that are slightly weaker then iron, but are highly enchantable.
    -Decorations.
-Use in new items not yet conceived.

Oh wow this is a WONDERFUL idea!!! This could add a whole new facet to the game, AND it's actually something that exists in reality! :D

Cave spiders... Rarely encounter them, but damn those little buggers are FAST. There's always more then one as well so they'll be jump attacking you from all sides. I've died at the hand of those things quite a few times.

Creepers are a close second for me. I'm just not good at killing them.

    Skeletons to me are cake.

You could always just use bonemeal on it. If it simply consumes a bonemeal and does not grow, then it means there are blocks in the way, likely due to the roof. Might want to try removing the torches before you try to use the bonemean, then place them down again.

posted a message on What do we want if we get new ores?
    Quote from WildCreeper

These are the ores I would like to see:

    1) Quartz ore. Found at upper layers of the map, such as in mountains. It would have 2 uses:
       a) Making colored windows alongside the use of a dye.
:cool.gif: Making a redstone clock with a adjustable pulse lenght and duty cycle.

    2) Salt. Found at sea floor. Would have 2 uses:
       a) Brewing potions of Jump Boost.
       :cool.gif: Taming a horse.

    3) Emerald. Found at Redstone layer. Would have 3 uses:
       a) A new toolset to fill the gap between iron and diamond.
:cool.gif: Each emerald could be crafted for 2 green dust. Each green dust could be brewed into potions of Night Vision.
       c) Making emerald blocks with 9 emeralds.

4)Silver. Found at Redstone Layer. would have 1 use:
       a) Silver coins for NPC trading

    5) Limestone. Found at special caves where 25% of the stone there is limestone. Would have 1 use:
       a) Could be smelted into marble.

Sir, I like the way you think! :biggrin.gif:

I am of the opinion that there should be a new ore added to the nether, and I think it should be a gem similar to that of diamond, but with different properties.

    Behold! My idea:

    Emerald Ore:

It would occur just as rarely as diamond does, except in the nether, and in the top 16ish layers of the nether (with the new heights of the nether this would be... 234-250. So it would be very risky to get, but worth while.

It would be more durable then iron tools, but less durable then diamond tools. The benefit? It is very easily enchanted and has stronger effects then diamond tools.

Of course, this is all up for debate. Just trying to put ideas out there :biggrin.gif:

(someone with more artistic skill and artistic patients please make this look pretty :biggrin.gif:).

posted a message on Removing Nether Portals Fails to break "Link".
    Quote from The_Battousai »
This has always been how portals work. If you make a portal in the normal world, then all further portals made in the normal world will only take you to the Nether, and then to the first portal you made.

The only way to counteract this is by making a portal in the Nether. It sounds like it would be rather difficult to make the portal where you would want it to appear, but that's not the case.

Each block in the Nether is equivalent to a flat 8x8 space in the normal world. To figure out where you want to make the portal in the Nether, make the portal in the normal world about 8 blocks away from the desired spot (it's hard to make it act exactly the way you want due to the leeway in an 8x8 space). Then go through it with your supplies, and make the new portal one block in front of the other one. Remove the other portal, and activate the new one. Go through this portal, and you should appear in the desired location.

Thank you for this! I find this to be a very bizzare way to wire portals in the nether (it seems unnecessarily complicated). Either way I hit F3, did a little math, and a few mistakes later, I made a portal in the nether and it linked exactly to the new one I had in the main world! Woo!

    Again, thanks for this :smile.gif:

posted a message on Removing Nether Portals Fails to break "Link".
    Hi everyone,

I just registered, and perhaps I will participate here more in the future depending on how much I get into minecraft, and how much time I have. Either way, I am wondering if this I have encountered a major bug associated with minecraft, and possibly associated with the new 1.5 update.

A few days ago, I decided to create a new (and much larger) house away from where I started in the game. It's a good 5 minute walk + a 5 minute boat ride to get from location to location. I had well established myself at this new home, and went about moving all my stuff. I then decided it was time to make a nether portal room at my new house. I also had an old nether portal at my old home that was still up and running. I figured though since I was so far from my old home that I could just leave it. I created my new portal at my new room, and entered it. When I got to the nether, it took me to the portal that was created in the nether before when I first entered (there was a house around it that I built). I though that was strange. Then I went back to the main world, only to find that I was back in the portal in my old house, all that distance away. I entered/exited a few times, and it only swapped between those two portals. Assuming that if I remove the portal in my old house, would break this, I dismantle the obsidian, empty the room, and treck all the distance across the map back to my new home.

I then reenter the nether portal in my new home, to find that I was back in the little house in the nether that I had built before. I then go back into the portal, to return to the main world. Only to discover, I reentered the real world, in a newly generated nether portal, which was about 50 meters away from where I dismantled the old one.

To me, this seems unreasonable that there would remain such a strong link between the original portals, despite the very far distance between the two portals in the main world. Further, that even after removing the old one, so that there is only one portal, does not break this location link, and that a new portal is generated. This is also a problem because this in theory could give users an unlimited supply and very easy access to obsidian blocks.

I am wondering if this is a glitch, if anyone has experienced something similar. Or, am I still new to the game and is this simply something normal (I hope not, as I find this to be quite frusterating. I don't want to have to waste an entire day cycle every time I decide to go into the nether, just to get back to my home).

Let me know what your thoughts are!
